So true i thought when Lester said that he was no good in love, and that LE's mom and is stepdad, that taught LE how to love it was just Lester hadn't found his soulmate until he found Jamie. Those two belong together in so many reasons and so many purposes that they'll never know❤ Lester taught LE more than he knows.
As bad as things have been there's always saving grace somewhere in Romans life along the way. I lived among the people group you speak of, and I've always done niceties for the horses. Often times these horses pull huge logs out of the woods, they love what they do.... it's kinda like our dogs need to do what the breed was created to do. I'm from Pa and maybe our people here do better because we know better....just saying ❤
It breaks my heart to know how unloved and abused Roman has been. The fact that he is only afraid and not mean shows what a large heart he has. I am thankful he now has a safe home to live out his golden years.
Amish also get Standardbreds, usually when they are retired off the racetrack, and my heart truly breaks for them. An average racehorses life is not great. Then they 'retire' as still young horses, only to be literally worked to death.
I have a standy retired of the track his name is Rocky and he came to me in horrible condition but his loved and given the best life with his best friend Jayda of the track thoroughbred. They get the best care possible. It’s breaks my heart how many horses are abused and how broken they are.
I don't see what the Amish have to do with any of this... They take as good of care of their animals as people do their cars.. the collar mark came later from someone using to small of a collar without a proper pad.. you wouldn't pull a tire off your car and attempt to drive it down the road.. using a collar that doesn't fit properly would be the same concept.. as far as him being afraid of men he isn't he is afraid of Lester. I have sat among many Amish men all rattling to each other in Pennsylvania Dutch they aren't half as loud as Lester is.. He does it cause he is scared to death of anything bigger than a goat.. as far as floating teeth goes the Amish do it themselves I was in my late 20's before I saw anyone but the farrier float teeth.. Don't judge them just because they don't do things the way you do..
@chrislink4576 You are living with blinder on, if that's the only way to cope keep them on. I'm around Amish daily not all are mean to there work animals but most are. They have to get the most out of them as they can in a days work, and if that means that they beat them so be it. Sad but true, time is money. As a rule retirement for there animals is death. Go fine your happy place, and leave ours alone.

Roman is home and with the right people that will give him all the love and care he needs and allow him to live out the rest of his life in peace and to know how much he is loved. Can't change the past, but you can make his present and future the best it can be. There will be good days and bad days, but please know that he has so many people around the world that have already fallen in love with him and are sending prayers his way. @dianehammack2189 did you watch the video where Jamie said Roman has pneumonia. No, he's breathing hasn't slowed down at all. He's having trouble breathing because his lungs are full of fluid. He feels like he's drowning that's why he's breathing hard and fast

I cannot tell you how many tears I've shed at just the thought of what that amazing animal has been through. I almost waited to watch this because I just knew already. I imagine it takes quite a while for Roman -or any horse that went through things-to truly let go and relax. If they are like people I can tell you living in constant fight or flight mode but being unable to truly do either is very stressful. Your love and care and the safe, wonderful environment you give him will allow him to live his best life. I have no doubt we will see this amazing horse happy and building a great relationship with you.

As you started speaking , my chin began to quiver and eyes brimmed with tears. This was not easy to hear, but Roman has found his soft place to land. Lester needs to keep his voice softer when around Roman seeing fearful of men but will accept him if gentle touch and peaceful talk. Roman was sent to you both for many reasons. I cried through this video. Jami, who has the biggest heart and love for all of her horses but Roman is something special. You’ll never know what he’s been through but his new history begins now. With the love and care both you and Lester show him will calm him and he will love you both immensely. Most Amish work their horses to death with no proper care. Yes they are abused & sent to auction for slaughter when they no longer can be productive for the Amish. So glad Roman has found a caring & loving home. Praying he has a full recovery. God bless Roman!
As 💔 as it is any animal rescused from the Amish is totally grateful. The amish treat their animals badly which is reason why they are rushed to be rescued... Roman is with you all because he's meant to... your ❤️ is bigger than you could imagine you are his Angel & he needed you ... there are many rescues that try to get to those darn auction houses or literally stand on the road trying to get to them before they are "dumped"... i feel your heart and yes these beautiful gentle horses are severally treated & dumped like nothing... thank you so much for taking him and giving him the life, love, comfort, companionship he so much always deserved.... he knows he's safe he feels your love...
We take older dogs from rescues. They all have backstories. Some of them we know, most, we don’t. Read their signs, accept, and love. Love and kindness for the last of their lives. Sometimes we have to be strong and allow them to find the door to love. Never, had one that didn’t find their way to love. You and Lester, are so full of love for these animals. When I watch channels that are rescuing Belgian draft horse from Bowie Texas auction I cry so hard there are so many that get rescued and you see the uncertainty in their body language but when they get to new home it's beautiful ❤

How do the Armish get away with the mistreatment of their horses. This is so unjust, my heart is in such pain for Roman. But now he has you and Lester and he is finally going to have the love he deserves.
I question this a lot. The town I grew up in had Amish and seeing the way they treated the poor horses broke my heart. I would see them tied up with very short lead ropes at stores in the middle of a HOT HOT summer with NO water. They would leave them tied up there all day. Then my Grandpa and I would go for drives down by where the Amish lived and they worked them horses so hard. It is just heart breaking. I am so glad that Roman is with Jami and Lester even though he was with another man before his passing. I know that the love that Roman is getting now is nothing like the love that he has had in the years before.
There’s a very popular Amish commercial area near where I live, and I refuse to support them for this reason. But there’s a whole industry built around them and people just eat it up.

I've never interacted with horses, but I'm emotional watching this. It's hard with any kind of rescue not really knowing what they've experienced. You're blessed to have Courtney in your life to help read what's going on with the horses.

Jami, you are right, there is something about this horse. I’m not a big horse person. I like them, but the other animals, like the goats and donkeys, have my heart. Well Roman stole my heart at the get go! I was there watching each video of Dixie’s illness and Voodoo’s injury, but I can’t get enough of Roman. It’s not because he is sick. There is just something about his spirit.
An absolutely beautiful video, Jami. I can't barely see through my tears. Sometimes, we all get in the wrong lines in life. They take us down paths that we would never have gone down if we had known. Fortunately, we can regroup and head in the right direction. Sometimes on our own and sometimes with help and guidance. Unfortunately, animals aren't given that choice. They are taken down paths that can be filled with neglect, abuse, and indifference. They are at our mercy. They don't have the ability to make a choice, but fortunately, there are angels waiting down some of these ugly paths. They will rescue and rehab these precious babies, catch them, if you will, and give them a soft place to land and call home. Jami, you and Lester are just two of those angels. Roman is a lucky man. He will gradually replace those ugly memories with happy ones. Memories that will let him feel safe, loved, and cared for. I pray for his speedy recovery from his pneumonia. It's amazing when you meet an animal. Not in person but on a UA-cam Facebook there's a connection. An instant love. I feel that way with a few of the animals. I've loved journey. I cried like a baby when she passed away and I love Roman. There's something about him. He touches my heart from afar. Gary was one of them. They just come into our lives for some certain reason and we are grateful for getting to know them through social media Loving them and thank you! I’m so happy that Roman is home with you and Lester. He will have a wonderful life with the two of you. We have several Amish families that live around us. There are many days that my heart breaks watching how they work their animals. Yes you have a few who give great respect to them, but several that treat them as machines to work hard, day in and out. I’m great full that the local agencies and veterinarians ( daughter and her clinic) have stepped in to help educate and protect the lively hood of the animals in our community. They can now fine them if they believe that animals might be harmed or abused. They are also documenting all the medical care and treatment for the Amish community. I can say here locally things have improved and changing for the better. There are some older members who did resist at first but are coming around. Some of the hardest obstacles was the men accepting women veterinarians. I applaud my daughter and colleagues for holding their ground and advocating for these beautiful animals. I also admire and applaud you, Lester, Courtney and your veterinarians for being there and caring for all your babies. It will take some time to heal Romans past life fears, abuse and neglect but I have full confidence and faith that you will do it.
He is most definitely in the right place. The good thing about animals is that they live in the moment for dear sweet Roman the rest of his days he will have all his needs met and even more importantly he will be treated with gentleness, kindness, and love. I love him !

We have Amish here in northern Missouri and I have seen how they treat there horses and it's not pretty at times the horses are worked hard and abused I have seen them tied up in the heat with no shade or out in the bitter cold the same way it's just sad so I can see why Roman having some issues right now but you and Lester have got this he is in the very best place possible he needs time ,lots of love sending prayers ❤

@dianehammack2189 did you watch the video where Jamie said Roman has pneumonia. No, he's breathing hasn't slowed down at all. He's having trouble breathing because his lungs are full of fluid. He feels like he's drowning that's why he's breathing hard and fast

I cannot tell you how many tears I've shed at just the thought of what that amazing animal has been through. I almost waited to watch this because I just knew already. I imagine it takes quite a while for Roman -or any horse that went through things-to truly let go and relax. If they are like people I can tell you living in constant fight or flight mode but being unable to truly do either is very stressful. Your love and care and the safe, wonderful environment you give him will allow him to live his best life. I have no doubt we will see this amazing horse happy and building a great relationship with you.

As you started speaking , my chin began to quiver and eyes brimmed with tears. This was not easy to hear, but Roman has found his soft place to land. Lester needs to keep his voice softer when around Roman seeing fearful of men but will accept him if gentle touch and peaceful talk.

Most Amish work their horses to death with no proper care. Yes they are abused & sent to auction for slaughter when they no longer can be productive for the Amish. So glad Roman has found a caring & loving home. Praying he has a full recovery. God bless Roman!

As 💔 as it is any animal rescused from the Amish is totally grateful. The amish treat their animals badly which is reason why they are rushed to be rescued... Roman is with you all because he's meant to... your ❤️ is bigger than you could imagine you are his Angel & he needed you ... there are many rescues that try to get to those darn auction houses or literally stand on the road trying to get to them before they are "dumped"... i feel your heart and yes these beautiful gentle horses are severally treated & dumped like nothing... thank you so much for taking him and giving him the life, love, comfort, companionship he so much always deserved.... he knows he's safe he feels your love...

When I watch channels that are rescuing Belgian draft horse from Bowie Texas auction I cry so hard there are so many that get rescued and you see the uncertainty in their body language but when they get to new home it's beautiful ❤

How do the Armish get away with the mistreatment of their horses. This is so unjust, my heart is in such pain for Roman. But now he has you and Lester and he is finally going to have the love he deserves.
I question this a lot. The town I grew up in had Amish and seeing the way they treated the poor horses broke my heart. I would see them tied up with very short lead ropes at stores in the middle of a HOT HOT summer with NO water. They would leave them tied up there all day. Then my Grandpa and I would go for drives down by where the Amish lived and they worked them horses so hard. It is just heart breaking. I am so glad that Roman is with Jami and Lester even though he was with another man before his passing. I know that the love that Roman is getting now is nothing like the love that he has had in the years before.
There’s a very popular Amish commercial area near where I live, and I refuse to support them for this reason. But there’s a whole industry built around them and people just eat it up.

I've never interacted with horses, but I'm emotional watching this. It's hard with any kind of rescue not really knowing what they've experienced. You're blessed to have Courtney in your life to help read what's going on with the horses.

Jami, you are right, there is something about this horse. I’m not a big horse person. I like them, but the other animals, like the goats and donkeys, have my heart. Well Roman stole my heart at the get go! I was there watching each video of Dixie’s illness and Voodoo’s injury, but I can’t get enough of Roman. It’s not because he is sick. There is just something about his spirit.
An absolutely beautiful video, Jami. I can't barely see through my tears. Sometimes, we all get in the wrong lines in life. They take us down paths that we would never have gone down if we had known. Fortunately, we can regroup and head in the right direction. Sometimes on our own and sometimes with help and guidance. Unfortunately, animals aren't given that choice. They are taken down paths that can be filled with neglect, abuse, and indifference. They are at our mercy. They don't have the ability to make a choice, but fortunately, there are angels waiting down some of these ugly paths. They will rescue and rehab these precious babies, catch them, if you will, and give them a soft place to land and call home. Jami, you and Lester are just two of those angels. Roman is a lucky man. He will gradually replace those ugly memories with happy ones. Memories that will let him feel safe, loved, and cared for. I pray for his speedy recovery from his pneumonia. May he continue to feel the love and kindness from your hearts. We all can see his soul, and it is a beautiful sight. Through all that he has been through, he has remained a gentleman. It's amazing when you meet an animal. Not in person but on a UA-cam Facebook there's a connection. An instant love. I feel that way with a few of the animals. I've loved journey. I cried like a baby when she passed away and I love Roman. There's something about him. He touches my heart from afar. Gary was one of them. They just come into our lives for some certain reason and we are grateful for getting to know them through social media Loving them and thank you! Jamie and Lester for all your rescuing of these animals❤

I’m so happy that Roman is home with you and Lester. He will have a wonderful life with the two of you.
We have several Amish families that live around us. There are many days that my heart breaks watching how they work their animals. Yes you have a few who give great respect to them, but several that treat them as machines to work hard, day in and out. I’m great full that the local agencies and veterinarians ( daughter and her clinic) have stepped in to help educate and protect the lively hood of the animals in our community. They can now fine them if they believe that animals might be harmed or abused. They are also documenting all the medical care and treatment for the Amish community. I can say here locally things have improved and changing for the better. There are some older members who did resist at first but are coming around. Some of the hardest obstacles was the men accepting women veterinarians. I applaud my daughter and colleagues for holding their ground and advocating for these beautiful animals.
I also admire and applaud you, Lester, Courtney and your veterinarians for being there and caring for all your babies.
It will take some time to heal Romans past life fears, abuse and neglect but I have full confidence and faith that you will do it.
You both will make sure Roman will have all the love, care , & more love, no matter how long you're blessed to have him.💕💕

We have Amish here in northern Missouri and I have seen how they treat there horses and it's not pretty at times the horses are worked hard and abused I have seen them tied up in the heat with no shade or out in the bitter cold the same way it's just sad so I can see why Roman having some issues right now but you and Lester have got this he is in the very best place possible he needs time ,lots of love sending prayers ❤
