    I never heard the Ray parents speak before, they are so eloquent and brave. So sorry about Randy's death yesterday at age 43.

      Not bitter on camera. People are very careful about what they say and do on camera, in these situations.

      Candy & I were in the same class together at Gocio Elementary. I remember our teacher Mrs. Corona would try to keep us away from the office whenever all the news reporters showed up, I really didn’t understand what was going on. Candy was great at teaching all of us in the class about what her brothers were going through and how we shouldn’t be afraid of them. I moved to Bradenton during 2nd grade, so I’ve lost touch with them since then…

      Some people were treated just as bad for less. Sad

    Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Ray, for sharing your story. I remember the news reports well from that time. I remember wondering how in the "heck" were you going to get through it all. I remember how frightened my husband was after the reports of your house fire. I remember him making decisions to keep his status private. How he feared for the safety of his 2 daughters & myself. He feared losing his job, and because of this, his medical coverage & possibly our house. He feared his kids losing their friends, of me losing my job, of people & relatives being scared to be around us. To be afraid to come to our home, to share meals with us. It was just so much for him to have to deal with, for us to deal with. He was the bravest person I have ever met. The kindest, funniest & most wonderful caring person. I am a better person because of him being in my life. He died in 1993 & my journey with the Hemophilia community started shortly after his death. I'm so grateful that I've had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people. Without you all, I don't know what I would have done. Thank You again from the bottom of my heart. Yours from Rhode Island, Marian

    Well it's not a fluke. If the mother is a recessive carrier the chances of her son being born with Hemophilia is the same no matter how many children she has had or whether they had been diagnosed with the disease.

      smokey kool-aid The medication they used called Factor VIII was made with blood products from various donors. Blood wasn't tested for HIV back then.

    • @sabrinazakrowski1399

      smokey kool-aid Clotting factor concentrates used to treat bleeding disorders like hemophilia are made from the blood plasma of hundreds if not thousands of people. Blood donors weren't screened for HIV until after 1985. So one HIV or blood borne hepatitis infected donor contaminated the entire lot of medicine.

    • @Amarie730
      @Amarie730 5 років тому

      Luna And Lunar Playz Not even after having the screening ability the blood donor companies failed to do so as they thought it would make them loose money. So sad how corrupted the world is

    So sad & unfair. So many people just born during the wrong 15-year period after HIV hit & before treatment came about. I hope whoever torched their house died a painful death or is paying in some other way today. I'm sure that idiot town considered themselves "Good Christian salt-of-the-Earth" people too. I'm sure some of them WERE fine, but the majority were not. Willful ignorance isn't just offensive; it's dangerous.

      Well I don’t wish death upon ANYBODY.. even if they did burn their property. They were afraid and evil all the same, yet who am I to wish death upon someone?

    Total respect for this couple.
    They went through so much and suffered awful situations for so long, yet they still feel the responsibility to talk about it and inform the world of what really happened in those years.
    I wish them they can find some comfort in knowing there are a lot of people out there who consider them heroes. ❤️
