I'm an English teacher. Here's how it works: if you've confused your characters, it hardly makes any difference to your mark. Assuming you've analysed the text and language well, used appropriate references and fulfilled the rest of the assessment objectives, it doesn't actually matter that much if you've written about a different character. I examine for GCSE Lit and you wouldn't believe the number of kids who wrote about Macbeth even though the question was about Lady Macbeth. They still are able to perform surprisingly well against the mark scheme because it does not specify any deductions for writing about the wrong character. Well done on your amazing results. I hope this comment reassures any students who are fretting about their English results. Xx

Aiman Nawaz Bless you, that's a lot of homework for the holidays, you poor thing!! I recommend looking up "AQA power and conflict poems PDF" via Google. You'll find the top few results offer useful booklets to save and go through for revision and homework. If you have any specific questions, feel free to pop them below and I'll do my best, but I'm enjoying my holidays too - as you should be! Xx

fantastischfish I wrote about the wrong character in my english GCSE this year on english lit paper 2. I wrote about Mr Birling instead of Mrs Birling and I am literally freaking out for next thursday because I thought I did soooooo good for that exam and then after finding out it was Mrs Birling I was freaking out and am still worrying I just wanna pass. Do you think I can still get a 4 for english
Nabila Akhtar Providing your response on Mr Birling covered all of the Asessment Objective on language and social context, you'll only lose a little bit on the one bullet point (out of 5) that mentions "response to task". You should still be able to score very decent marks for your quotations/references, analysis of language and context. So yes, a 4 is still possible. I marked that paper and believe me LOTS of students wrote about the wrong Birling - we can't possibly fail them all can we?!!

I came out of my C1 exam thinking I had failed and had a panic attack, I got a B. Came out of my C2 and thought I had smashed it, got a D! I can't predict my grades either 😂😂

Good job! :) I absolutely get your relief. In the US we take SATs to get into college and I stressed out about it for so long before finally getting my results and thankfully my hard work paid off.

Ellie Slater that’s amazing! How did you revise for biology and chemistry if you don’t mind me asking. :)
From the beginning of the year, I always made rough notes in the lessons and then wrote them up a day or so later, making sure to go over bits I felt unsure of and adding in information from my revision guide. I also made revision cards or mind maps up front that I'd review every now and again. When it got close to the exams, I would read through my notes and revision cards and make note of anything I was unsure of separately. I'd then read through them all again with those things I was unsure of and continue doing this until I was confident with it. I ended up reading about clonal selection and expansion nine times in one sitting, but it definitely stuck! For me, past exams didn't help with biology because it is so content heavy, but it definitely helped with chemistry, especially with inorganic. Sorry if this doesn't help, I tend to stick to traditional revision methods :)

Hey It's Cerian it's changed now so AS results a basically irrelevant because we have to start again in year 13 and then our A Level results depend purely on that one exam at the end of the year

If you found a given exam to be easy, chances are high that a lot of other people also found it easy. So you might get a lower UMS on an easy exam than expected. On the other hand, if you found an exam to be difficult, you might be better than a lot of other people at handling difficult exams. In that situation, you might get a higher UMS than predicted.

Just want to say a massive thank you eve because although I am a year older than you I got my A2 results yesterday and genuinely don't think I would've got the grades I needed so badly to get into my dream uni (uni of Birmingham) without you, especially English Lit I have struggled a lot with the essay writing for it at A level and without your videos I for sure wouldn't have got the grade I got whatsoever. I find it amazing how you appear to stay so calm and relaxed when grades are involved! I know this is irrelevant but at GCSE I got 1A 3B's and 4C's despite struggling through really bad anxiety and depression! Now after 2 years out of college I'm ready to go back and take my a levels! Watching your study videos really motivates me to try my very best at everything I do so hopefully this year will be a lot easier!!

i'm confused, do u get A-level results at the end of year 12 or year 13?
and what are AS levels?
You do AS Levels at the end of year 12, which (in most colleges) ensure your place in second year (year 13) and at the end of year 13 you sit your A Levels which are the grades you get into uni with!
iimendesii x AS are like one step down from A Level they used to count towards your A Level but not anymore. If you do AS' then you get your results at the end of year 12 and A Levels at the end of year 13

Congratulations Eve, you have worked so hard and deserve to celebrate your results! Two things I will say though (as a recent graduate): 1. the wait for results never gets easier. I would never get more than 2 hours sleep at a time in the week running up to my uni exam results. 2. You definitely can never predict the final outcome. There were plenty of times at uni that I thought I had messed an exam up and then came out with an A, so if you can find little ways to prevent yourself from trying to predict how you've done, then your mental health will thank you! I wasted so much time and energy crying over results I didn't even have yet because I thought I wouldn't reach my goals, only to find out I had reached them on results day. Good luck for your future and I hope you continue to value your education as much as you currenty do :).
