- South-African tenor Kobie Van Rensburg singing Orfeo's aria Vi Ricorda, O Boschi Ombrosi from Claudio Monteverdi's favola in musica L'Orfeo (SV 318). First performed before the Accademia degl'Invaghiti on 24 February 1607 in Mantua, Italy, it is considered one of the earliest works recognized as an opera. This particular clip is taken from the video filmed in October 2004 at the Théâtre municipal de Tourcoing, France with La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy conduced by Jean-Claude Malgoire... Kobie Van Rensburg is, of course, my absolutely favourite tenor ever. :)

This tenor is brilliant in Handel. I have one of the most wunderfull Messiah perfomances with this man. Bravo!
Bravissimo Kobie van Rensburg!!!
Absolutely fabulous performance. They all seem to be having so much fun.I'm planning to upload some of his tracks from the Messiah soon.
Wow, again one of your spectacular uploads, llggg, love it! These are btw my favourite 2 minutes of the whole opera. Thanks!
@Gudrun74 Well, we definitely seem to agree on the best 2 minutes of the whole opera. :) And K. Van Ransburg is as great as ever. A truely maginificent voice.
@FromTheSouthernTip Please do. The recording of Messiah with him singing the tenor part is absolutely glorious. Van Rensburg is definitely my favourite tenor, especially in baroque repertoire. :)
Bravooo!!!!!
Very nice voice.
How did they record his voice ? Everything sounds so clear and the volume of the voice is constant, as if it was a studio recording. I suspect he had a mic but it’s not something I’ve seen for this kind of stuff.
