You can teach children about respect and disrespect without giving them a smack over the head. My parents never smacked me and I learned about it.

Children learn from their parents. If they're physically punished - which creates fear and shame in them - they later use physical punishment to others when being offended. When treated with respect they treat others with respect...

    The Nordic flags:
All are based on the Christian cross.
Denmark has a white cross and Denmark is partly bound in red so it is a red background. It is also the world's oldest flag in use (from 1219)
The Swedish flag is a golden cross against a blue sky.
Norway's is similar to Denmark's but also has a blue cross in the innermost part since Norway before was subordinate to Sweden.
Finland's flag has a blue cross symbolizing all the lakes in Finland on a white blanket of snow.

If we stop the sillyness for a moment there is only one legitimate situation to be patriotic in Sweden and that is when there is a national icehockey or football game going on. Other than that it's seen as something ugly and most likely racist. As an example you are more than happily allowed to be proud of the multicutural foundation that the established politicians has been forcing upon the whole country for decades. But if you are proud of and want the real Sweden, the swedish Sweden, then you are nothing more than a filthy racist in the eyes of these people.

Swedish meatballs are a swedish twist of a dish brought back from Turkey with the soldiers. The flavours and size is no where near the original but it is based on the Turkish one. It has blended in with our own culture and become a swedish dish. It is basically just grinded beef with spices and if done with love could include some specials like cream, milk or even carbonated water to give them more flavour or more air... Most dishes in the world have an origin in something else. That is the nature of food and culture. I bet many people think that swedish Tacos is from mexico. Well it is more like Texas, but we bring in fruits and other flavours so it is not even close to either the Mexican OR the Texan originals. Try comparing a swedish pizza to another country. We have gone WAY overboard and most italians would get the shivers when they see what we have done with their national food... Kebab-Pizza ;)

De gamla recepten malde inte köttet alls utan rullade hela köttbitar i brödsmulor.

Nils Bejerot invented(read made up) Norrmalmstorgsyndromen which didn't sound as catchy as Stockholm syndrome to the foreign press. Look, my friends, the tax structure in America is just a few percent lower than that in Sweden. Why? Sweden has but one national tax. The U.S. has multiple federal, state, and local taxes and even taxes on taxes. You heard that right. In general, your statement is correct, a huge shoutout for Sweden.

    • @chrismarnoch8540

That statement is not really True. We do have several tax brackets in sweden. We pay between 30 and 33% income tax up to ca60 000 US dollars. Then everything above that is an additional 20% (ie 50-53%) In 2024 the highest income tax is 55.6% We also pay 25% vat on services and between 6 and 12% for certain goods and services.

  • @michaelmay5453

In Sweden you tell the kid why he is wrong and if that doesn't work you tell the parents, you do NOT hit a kid and if you hit my kid, I will send you to the hospital and at the end of the day, you'll be the one in court.
You use your words, that is what we tell kids and apparently we have to teach Americans that too.
I have never hit my children and the amount of respect they have always had for me is far greater than anyone who ever did. If you look at statistics on the matter, hitting a child will always result in them behaving far worse. We knew that in the 1970's because we like to do shit the sciency way instead of the "'murican common sense" way and we implemented it, it resulted in an overall increase of pretty every measure you can think of over the next decades.

ABBA will blow your mind. Dancing Queen would definitely be a good song to start with. What an incredible rabbit hole to go down. People didn't treat them very well in the 80s. They started out as two couples. Unfortunately, both broke up. One of their kids even had his name changed because the disrespect for ABBA was so bad. But they had a major resurgence in popularity in the 90s and have been going from strength to strength. That's when people started begging them to get together again. Other people tried singing their songs and discovered what musical geniuses they were. They had the music industry in a state of shock that a band that hadn't performed in decades were that popular. One of their biggest fan bases outside of Sweden was in Australia during their heyday. We still love them. In fact, one of our movies started off their newfound popularity in the 90s.

They made a cost comparison between the US and Denmark (that has a very similar system to Sweden). They started with the average salary and deducted from that: taxes, healthcare, school fees and so on according to their experiance and their conclusion was that in the US you pay more for the same services.

Great video reaction! Never seen any of your videos before but Im here to stay for sure. If you ask me I would say alot of the things on this list are either so niched down that just some swedish peoples can say it have happen which makes the video wrong when it sounds like it is typical all of sweden for example I have never ever ever heard even a discussion about Santa being swedish. Sure I havnt had Santa as a part of christmas as I celebrate that holiday as a christian in a christan way but still, closest I have ever heard is that we got peoples working as Santa as their main job in gallerys, visiting hospitals, events, homes etc to bring that christmas feeling to peoples that maybe doesnt get it as much as others. But never have I heard a swed say "Oh Santa must be living in sweden" but I have heard very many swedish peoples saying he either comes from the north pole, finland, turkey, US/coca cola depending on what culture you have been a part of and what legend you read. So sure all things in this are things that is to some degree are true but also things that are completely wrong or atleast maximally excessive.

The parental leave you reacted to is also paid by the taxes. The highest percentage you get is 80% of something called SGI. The SGI is based on your work income so if you usually earn $40000 a year they base the SGI to about $32000 a year and you can use it on parental leave.
The same SGI goes for sick leave from day 15 if you get sick or injured. The first 13 days of sick leave, day one is not paid leave, your work pays 80% of your salary.
Also the first 10 days, these days are extra and do not get deducted from your leagal parental days, after a new baby has come/been adopted you get paid to be at home and your partner gets paid too. Along side that you have, - if I remember correctly, - 30 days more, 60 days alltogether as they take 30 days from each parent, you both get paid at the same time though.
The parental leave days can be used until the kid turns 12 but only if you've saved a maximum of 96 days the rest must be used by the time the kid turns 8.
We also have something called Vård av barn - VAB short, this is something the SGI also covers but is for when you have a sick kid or if the other parent of the kid is sick, and you have to stay home from work to take care of the kid or take care of the kid while the other parent is sick. VAB is not connected to the parental leave days. Temporary parental leave is something you get paid for until the kid is 12 and even at a common cold you can stay home and get paid for taking care of the kid if it's sick or if the other parent is sick in a common cold.
Downside of SGI and the benefits - taxes. But the taxes on - parental leave, temporary parental leave and sick leave - are lower than the regular taxes. So you pay taxes with taxes 😅😂.

They will act or and make mistakes. Hittibg someobe so much smaller than you is just cowardly imo. If you think it's wrong to hit women for example then you shouldn't do that to kids either.

The parental leave is fantastic. Both parents get a two week joined time off after the baby is born. It really helps when adjusting to a new life. We then have over a year to split between us, with three months for each parent that the other can take.

So... i'll run along the video with some commonets.
    1. Yes, swedish texes are high. All dont like it. Like most are willing to pay high taxes for the benefits it gives, but the situation is also turning a bit unstable since well, there are taxes, and then there are Taxes. I'll explain what i mean, but first of all: Skatt does mean Treasure. But it ALSO means Taxes. We dont call it Skatt and Mean Treasure. Thats just a thing in the swedish language, we got quite a few words with many meanings. Var = Where, but Var also = Pus. Val means Whale AND Election, or Choise. etc.
So taxes. The problem with sweden is that we are a Tax Onion. And thats Me saying that, someone who likes the benefits taxes bring.
But today here is how it goes.
I Earn money. I pay about 30% taxes (And thats a Low Income tax btw). So lets make this simple, and say i earn 20.000sek, 6k are then taxes. ok. I buy food for about 4000 a month. Of those 4k, 25% goes to Moms (Moms was a Wartime tax from WW2, that they just didnt remove afterwards, as they said they would), so thats another 1000 to taxes.
Now i pay tax for owning a car, a house, if i have pets, extra high tax on gas and tobacco (Punktskatt), tv-licens etc.
But it gets better. A påart of what i pay in taxes are placed in my Pensions account, so im paying for my older years. ok. Tax money goes to this. Thats the system.
But when i get the money back, guess what, i need to tax it again. Thats where the shoe realy iches for me. I earn money, i pay taxes, i get benefits for paying taxes, and then i need to pay taxes on those benefits.
Again, i dont mind a high tax, if it is as you said: Used Correctly.
But our politicians are not Using it correctly. they are pis*ing it away in the political game of power and biggest hat.

    • @lo-andbehold

    • @KamiRecca
      @KamiRecca 2 місяці тому

@@lo-andbehold i hate this kind of argument. No, i pay high tax Even as a low income earner.
Skatt + Moms (30%+25%)= 55% of my earnings. And thats the Minimum tax i pay.
But here is why i hate the argument, after Tax and Moms on 30k, a decent low-range salary, you get 13500 sek of purchase power. Or 16200 sek per year, and then without taxes of roughly 300k.
So the tax bracket sits at about 600k. So for those 600k you get roughly 390k a year after taxes, and a purchase power of 32260 sek.
Or a monthly salary of around 50k sek before taxes.
Any money earned after that gets an additional 20%, so it lands on a whopping 75%. And that Sounds like alot. And it Is alot.
But 2 points, its a heck of a difference living on 13500 sek purchase power than 32260+ sek.
In dollars thats roughly 1300 dollars compaired to 3200+ dollars of pure, pre-taxed purchase power for reference.
      That matters.
And if you have a high income there is a realy high chanse you have a company to avoid paying Moms on many of the Expensive purchase options (land, vehicles, stocks, etc).
So on the large expenses you Actually pay 30% and not 55%. So Less tax.
So those 20% extra high income tax are on any money you generally use on Small purchases (lets call that purchases up to a low-tier high end gaming pc, in comparison to Large purchases, or about 20k Sek (inc. Moms), of which you can purchase 1 and still have 12k, or almost the whole purchase power of a low salary (30k>) left Before you get that extra High income tax.
And no, someone with a low income does not have the same opportunity to do that.
Oh, and do you know what you can do if you have money? Hire an economist to find out how best you can further get back from your taxes. Especially if you have a company as stated before.
Something you, again, Cant do if you are in the position of needing to choose who of your kids gets new clothes this month.
I do not say this as a argument out of sympathy, but rather one out of economic realism.
The more money you make, the more tax you pay, but as well does your ability to Deduct taxes increase.
As well as your ability to Earn More.
Sorry for wall of text, and im of course Specificly talking about the swedish system in this, but the conclussion remains as a universal one.
      From Sweden with Love
      - Kami

51% taxes - that REALLY depends on how you count (like including sales tax?). I pay a little bit more than 30% on my income and it's more than worth it.
"Skatt" (treasure) is from a german word (back several hundred of year) that means "cattle" - often use to pay your taxes. Thus the dual meaning.
Borne in Stockholm, living in Göteborg I would say that Göteborg is the greenest - Stockholm is the bluest (oh, they didn't talk about green in that way). 😀
7 The Noble prize - that video is a few years old.
Ikea - I guess someone else has told you, but... IK is from Ingvar Kamprad (the founder) as EA I don't remember.
If someone hits you, do you start to respect that person?
Financial security makes people more moveable, trying new carriers and businesses endeavours.
Finally. I feel this is (in 2024) a bit of a idealistic view of Sweden. We now have a government that cut back on taxes fro those with the highest income, they also cut back on social security, health care etc etc etc.

I dont remember all of them but the Blue and Yellow swedish flag is supposedly to represent the the ocean as Swede were very much sea faring explorers, the yellow is for the many vast fields of various grains.
Im not sure this is officially recogniced or just folkly traditional interpretaions.
From the official coat of arms th blue is something Loyalty, Vigilance, Truth and Justice, the Yellow represents Generousity I believe,
The Finnish Blue and White, as far as I know, represents their thousands of Lakes and filds of Snow.
The Danish Red and White, someone told me represents the Blood spilled by King Kristian the Second, also known as Kristian Tyrann (Tyrant), who was actually a Swedish king but in mediaval times terretories of Denmark and Sweden kept shifting back and forth.
The "bloodbath" took place in Copnhagen, the capital of Denmark.
I have no Idea how true this is, it _sounds_ rather suspect.
Its a rather grim meaning to put behind your flag, but then again, since Kristian was Swedish it might be as both a "never again - remember the past" memorial and also as to honor all the Danes who were executed, so I wouldnt rule it out as impossible.
Any Dane reading this, I very much implore you to confirm or deny these claims.
Norway and Iceland I really dont know.
The crosses are symbols from when the entire Norse left the Asir faith and became Christian nations.
This happened in around 1000-1100 A.D I believe, at the tail end of the Vking age,
This is why they all have the same design, just different colors.

It’s not about giving your kid a timeout it’s about actually sitting down with your kid and talking to them and explaining why we can’t behave certain ways etc. If we hit the kids they will start to take that behavior and hit other people around them

Think about what you will about the rule against corporal punishment for children, but the worst I've heard and I'm glad it probably never happens anymore is that one of my now dead relatives got hit a lot in school because he was left-handed ( by teachers that is ) and it actually gave him a stutter as a result. And since I'm a lefty I'm glad we at least don't treat children like That anymore :)

If you work part time you don’t pay that high taxes. The less you earn the less taxes you pay. But just like in the US there’s taxes on products etc, but they are already included in the price, i e if it says 10$ on a pricetag it is 10$, no xtra. And also the taxes are already deducted when we get our salary. The employer deducts it and then report both our income and our taxes to our IRS. About parental leave, parents can both stay at home the first 10 workingdays after the child is born. During the parental leave we get 80% of our salary if we have an employment.

I like having the Tax in the price because here in USA different state has their own % on the tax. some place has no tax
