31 minutes on a lantern comparo... Love you Nutn 🤣. This is a timely and useful review, thanks! I have a bunch of olanterns in my pop up camper and house
I love how far we have come in lighting products. I do wish that they would make these "Rechargable" laterns with removable batteries. Most are probably using 18650 batteries which are so common now days. For the same reason you stated, "forgot to check charge", is why I would prefer a removable battery but in a more modern battery than D-size. So much more capabilities with the Lithium batteries, especially 18650 and the newer 21700 series. With removable batteries I can be charging a spare set while using the lantern.
The tough light is a perfect compliment to my real deal fuel lantern. Ordered the 400 mud. Hurricane season in Florida, always gotta be ready. Thanks Nutn.
BLF LT1. For emergencies, though, I honestly prefer to use my M12 "service light" as I have many batteries and the runtime, efficiency and light quality are fantastic.
Col.RH NutnFancy, you knocked one outta the park with this uniformly superlative YT LED lantern review. I have followed u for many years since the start. My 3rd time watching this video. It was a huge help in choosing a couple of lanterns. Hurricane Helene just tore up the south pretty bad. My area wasn't affected. THIS TIME. Gonna up my preparedness game.
Nice breakdown of these lanterns .... U know there's someone out there looking at that cabin from a distance saying "see I told u it's haunted , I keep seeing lights going on and off in that creepy cabin"
I have 2 Ust 30 day lanterns, they are very similar to the tough light, except theyuse 4 d batteries. I have them in my hurricane kit . They last 30 days on low power . I highly recommend them and never failed after years and years of use . Thanks Nutn
At more than $2 each, I am trying to get away from "D-Cell" batteries. I do have a couple rechargeable lights but I don't like paying the price and having to maintain them isn't always on my mind. AA & AAA batteries are much more affordable and last long enough for me to feel like I get my money's worth. The smaller batteries take less storage space while storing more. I do like the handheld LED worklight types that are available now. That's where I am in the lantern and after hours lighting game.
An excellent lantern is the LT1S non pro model Sofirm, stepless adjustment, red light, color temp changes, easily replacable 21700 flat top non protected battery. Low cost and plentiful batteries. Hook on top, usb c charge port built in, can work as power bank, top light battery indicators, 4 of them.
Interesting video. I have a lantern that is solar rechargeable if the AA batteries die (tested it, place it in a window in the sun all day and it will run all night without batteries). No idea of manufacturer or specs though, I work at a park and it sat in our lost and found for over a year. I took it when we were throwing out unclaimed items (once every 1-2 years depending on how much we have and how long it has sat unclaimed).
I have both the LE lanterns and really like them. Especially the rechargeable one - use it for DIY stuff all the time. The battery one is a bit of a pain to screw the base on and I have to leave it a little undone, but its nice to have the versatility of normal batteries or rechargable. D cell rechargables cost a fair amount though. I have those D cell adapters which can take x3 AA batteries each - work quite well. Just in case can't get hold of D cells
For camping I use Ryobi 18 volt for lighting. Lamps, Lanterns w/usb , Flash lights, Spotlight. Ryobi has a small power inverter w/usb and light. It powers my air bed pump. And 12 volt charger. They work just as well for home emergencies. Plus all the other tools they make using the same battery it just makes sense. Stuff has worked great for years.
Great video, Nutn. I'll check these out with your links. The most use I'll get from these is when power goes out and for car camping. I like the warmer lights for those uses.
they all look great. goalzero are always pricy but they make an awesome product never been disappointed, olight affordable for a small package. for a kid friendly lantern / emergency light though, we like their obulbs very small, very light, waterproof, magnetic base so you can stick anywhere metal, on low will run for 56 hours.
I'm all setup for power outages with generators, power storages, PV modules, batteries, and so on. But I've been shot on emergency lanterns, so this was perfect timing.
I don’t usually comment but this is an awesome review. Love your time estimates. Keep doing reviews on useful items like this love it. Will definitely pick one or two up.
Have two of the original Olight Olanterns...also have the Christmas tree globe. They both drain the battery in a few months unused sitting on the shelf. Wish they would be off when I turn them off....other than that they're good. Just wish they wouldn't die so fast. Impressed with the Toughlight and Goal Zero.
Don't forget the D cell adapters you can get on Ebay that hold 3 AA batteries. I have the exact same light x8 for that exact reason. I can use D batteries or AA batteries with the adapters I bought. Add in my portable solar charger, eneloop batteries and xtar chargers and I am golden.
The green button light on the OLight doesn't actually stay on all the time. It's motion activated. If you press and hold the power button it will completely shut off.
Thanks Nutnfancy. Purchased the 2pk LE rechargeable with your link; I'm on the border with the Goal Zero. Fighting the urge. Oh by the way, to clear ghost release Tactical Doodle on the cabin and have him fart. Natural ghostbuster there. 😅🤣 Patreon Member.
I have two lanterns from Harbor Freight for $25 each. The lanterns are not high tech or may not be build tuff ??. But it has 4 setting , takes 4 D battery and 1200 lumens.
If this has 6k mAh that is only 2k per battery if there are three, you could swap those out with 3500 mAh batteries for a total capacity of 10,500mAh, a 40% capacity increase
I've got a small led lantern that I use on rare occassions. The trouble with one lantern is t hi ere as re to many shadows you can't see into. Two lanterns almost makes it safe to walk around such an area without addition lighting. 3 lanterns would make that place feel like home. Love the goal zero! Bring on the UFOs!
I just got a couple 20,000 mah power banks They have 16 LED'S on one side and can burn 144hrs on 300 lumen low mode. 1200 lumens 4.5hrs on High mode. It's got an aluminum hanger and comes in just under 15 oz. It's perfect, seemingly apart from it isn't waterproof sadly. $35.99 on Amazon
Durapower Rechargeable Camping Lantern,7500 Lumen Super Bright LED Camping Lantern, 7200 Mah Power Bank, IP44 Waterproof, 30 Hours, Portable Lantern for Hurricane, Power Outages...on Amazon. This lantern is so bright I can't look at it on high.
Unlike the tier 1 operators I don't hate Olight (apparently all their products explode, don't you know), but I wouldn't use their lantern for anything besides some short camping in ROL times like now. If it doesn't have a way to charge or be powered without requiring electricity I wouldn't consider it for serious use. That crank lantern looks decent though.
I'd love to see some, if you do a second batch, that have more robust battery lives since weight here isn't a top priority. Just sayin, love this sorta content
Call me a psycho, but I don't get the point of a lantern. I just use a flashlight with the lantern attachment, and when I was a kid I loved my rechargeable lantern, which had a fluorescent bulb and a lead-acid battery. It had a sticker on it warning that failure to recharge every 3 months would result in battery damage. It was an absolute beast of a lantern. It lit up the place the same as my current 2x AA flashlight, but it did it with GRAVITAS. You knew that light came from an absolute tank and it was reassuring. Like a bear could attack that lantern and it would still be putting out light long after the bear has given up. You could leave it out during a hurricane and it would not tip over thanks to it's lead-based badonkadonk.
Nice comparison. I recently got the Olight Olantern Classic 2 in the Pro version. I think you'd like that one, too. The Lite might be better for power outages, though, because it runs on AA batteries.
18650 x a dozen. Prefer a couple standard lights. On 125 to 250 lumen they will run a long time . And simple is my deal . 3 or 4 bright settings. No strobe. No red.. no sos. No crazy stuff.
Sofrin has a cool lantern. Can’t remember what it’s called but it does have a tint shift option. I have a flashlight that will do that. It’s pretty cool but a little gimmicky. Definitely not something you need.
@@floyd2386 I’ve heard they’re pretty nice. I have a d4sv2 that does the tint shifting but mainly use mine for both a flooder and a thrower. Definitely interested in the Sofrin.
@@floyd2386 oh nice. Definitely will. That’s a lot better than what it’s going for on Amazon last time I looked at it. Thanks for the heads up my friend 👍
Would not recommend. Worked once. A month later this thing will not hold a charge and the company is impossible to get in touch with for a warranty claim. Junk.

What a great idea to film this review in the abandoned cabin.
I still like my Streamlight. Have used it in real power outages, these are very handy to have.
I've had the Goal Zero Lantern for years and Love it!
Always have love for the lighting vids. Thanks!

The LT1 really is on another level, I can't wait for the LT1 Mini to finish up testing so they can finally release it.
Streamlight Siege series. My go to.
The Streamlight Latern is worth a look!

I love your videos beyond knives, guns and watches!
Reviewing lanterns in a creepy run down cabin. Excellent.
_Who ya gonna call?! Nutbusters!_

Great review! Also digging the piano play at the end!!
I like bright and yellowish lights for different applications.
Great review! Something everyone needs to have around the house and camp! Awesome idea to use the haunted cabin.

Great video!
The tough light looks like a copy of the streamlight siege lantern series.
Cool review location. Great lantern comparison & review!
Nutn spoiling us with this one!!
Great stuff.
Great job on the video mate greetings from Cornwall UK👍
Definitely prefer the warmer lights.

Out of these ones I like the Goal Zero one the most because it can be recharged with the crank.

Awesome review! Was in the market for a better quality camping lantern. Love the Tough Light, grabbed the Mud version. Great price! Ty Nutn
I ordered the goal zero off your link nutn. I really think I’m going to like it
I bought one but mine cuts off after around 10 seconds, no matter which setting I turn it to. Any ideas why that happens?
It would be creepier if you couldn't see cars driving by in the background.

I don't use D batteries. I'm looking for a lantern that runs off of 18650's that are removable.
NGL, I thought he'd turn the cabin into a haunted shoot house with lanterns based on the title.
I'm guessing the yellow light was to mimic a flame lantern . Nesting 2nd cool inside 1st cool. I can't blame them for that.
awesome product lineup :)
gj on the selection NutNfancy (and community?) :)

UST 30 day/60 day lanterns are excellent. Harbor Freight Tools has good lanterns for the price
The warm white should attract less bugs than the cold white.
You can just tape a balled up piece of bubble wrap to the front of a flashlight and boom, you've got a lantern.
The green button light on the OLight doesn't actually stay on all the time. It's motion activated. If you press and hold the power button it will completely shut off.
