Several things make this video a top tier tutorial. So many professional players guides show a game where everything went well and say here, this is how you do it...But Hera: 1. You fail early. Getting housed, scouts find no damage. - This happens more often than not, because our builds arent as crisp or fast and opponents often want to wall earlier than normall. 2. you lose the archers after finding no damage. - For many of us, if we failed here again, we would call it gg. no way could we recover after 2 huge mistakes with no damage. 3. Hera shows how to take little damage even as the enemy pushes in really far. - We would feel like we have to fight earlier in order to not take damage, but we can see here that saving army and fighting only after opponent over extends can single handedly win the game. Thanks for a great Tutorial Hera.
The fact that Hera is so good he also is aware of mistakes lower skill players make & can reproduce them is wild. Haven’t been keeping up with this series but after watching this vid I definitely will be
Thanks a lot for this video Hera. As mentioned in the chat, showing how to handle the situation after loosing a bunch of xbow was pretty awesome and probably that makes this one of the best tutorial videos ever. I am at 1200 elo and I always loose my entire foot archer/skirm army this way .....so for the past few months I have been civ picking knight civs or cav archer civs to avoid the situation as much as possible. Maybe now I will try archers again.
@@jordivermeulen2519 Theoretically. But the reality is Hera actually trying his best is not losing to a 1400 under fair circumstances no matter how many games they play.
One of the best ones so far! Really showed the power of eco into production. Getting out of low elo is all about fundamentals and basics (as Hera preaches), and in mid elo you just have to spend all that res on more stuff. Don't get fancy and don't panic - just produce! More stuff typically beats less stuff. 11
Really nice ty Hera! This is around my elo and the way i always died when play archer civs, is exactly like this game. Extremly agressive kt + siege push. I always think about add some pikeman but never did properly, now i know when is time to make them. I hope my archers civ win rate improve now.
Bro I'm 1400 and I learned a ridiculous amount from this. When u lost ur army I just thought to myself.. yeah this is where I'd be dead. And you showed how to defend and boom... masha Allah just amazing. Ps sorry about some of the negative comments you're getting. Tbh I would be honored to get wrecked by you. And it's literally one game it's not likely these players can never recover.
This series is great, your knowledge of how players play differently based on their elo is very good. Also, great strategy and analysis of the game. Well done!
The number of barracks is what I’ll keep from this game. Sometimes I’m scare of doing to many buildings on Castle age thinking that a lot of buildings is just for Imperial. But this show how to defend against 1 tc aggression
Can confirm 1300-1400 elo players float 2.5k wood and 1.4k gold, speaking from my own experience. It is really crazy how well you reproduce the playstyle of players that elo range and make similar mistakes on purpose yet still win the game no problem. Thanks for the guides!
Incredibly useful series. Keep it up! Maybe you could say a bit more about the macro of things. Like, when should I get both horse collar and bit ax, good timing for wheelbarrow, etc. I'm sure it's become intuition for you but for boobs like me it's a struggle 11
Really nice Video. Iam playing on 17xx atm. In the last time I struggled a little bit with the Pikeman transition. Thanks for this great showcase. One Question: When would you click Thumbring instead of transition into pikes?
Well done awesome video! The idea of making mistakes on purpose in order to then showcase how to recover from them is huge. Hope to see more of that coming out! What was red's mistake then? :)
Love the content Hera, learning so much, I gave up after some guy wrecked me with horses, now thinking it was too early, I should have kept trying. Don’t suppose you’ve tried/ got videos of you playing AoE on Xbox? Would love your opinion, and see how your play style might change
I love how by sharing this the entire community average can be improved, upcomingpros forget what can be polished. Being focused improving something else. So they can get a quick and easy idea of like. Oh yeah I totally forgot that stuff. Low-high average Elo players learn things they were missing the entire time. It discover that they got everything But see what needs work or polish
I know this guy is creator of mods such as in game tech tree progress preview and eco upgrades progress preview. He also created Tatoh Aoe Main menu mod too.
I'm a noob, and watching ur vids to learn.. but one thing I did realise, when Ur base is in a corner, U can comfortable set animals to scout the corner sides of your base with next to no threat of being stolen, and getting your scout horsey doing deeper map scouting, gaining vision and extra animals quicker ;). But you were talking.. so probs not thinking too deep on the scouting at the time :) cheers for vids
whats the big difference between maa-->archers vs scouts -->archers. Is it just speed as u can make militia in feudal (along with the lower spd of maa)? Along with using the archers more for castle age rather than archers in feudal?
A question: when you buy in platforms (steam for example) AOE II: Definitive edition, it is ok to play all civs? or you need to buy some expansions or something?. THANKS!!!
I died exactly like this a thousand times. My question is. Normally they don't siege push in this Situation but castle drop and go to imp. And it always feels like my own imo is too delayed by the pike switch. And once I am imp the opponent already switched to skirm knights and I am dead in the water so what do I do against a forward castle?
10 years since hera road to 2k guide. i walk through the empty streets trying to think of something else but my path always leads to the channel. i stare at the screen for hours and try to summon the master. i watch other ladder guides videos but it is no good, they ban arabia and fav arena. the end is near. i then usually watch some old hera vods and cry myself to sleep.
man im so mad! finally i found you on the lobbies in roadto2k and it kicked me out in feudal hahaha it's a bug i have 2 out of 7 games or so idk why it happens D:
Bengali doesn't have camel so that would be why. 2 pikes cost 1 camel also, and a camel straight up will still lose to a knight. They are more cost effective, but not the stronger unit
Hi hera this one is epic! A lot to learn and I loved it! Would be awesome if you can comment at the end what the opponent could do ar what time to win you?
Just one or two years ago watching people play I thought to myself "I could easily get to 1400-1500" because they made a lot of mistakes, like not attacking, panicking, idleing tcs and vills etc Now that everyone got better, I'll probably be 1000-1100 11 Played my first of 10 test matches almost 2 years ago and it was against a 1000+ player, which I won, but next match will be against 1600+ and I'm just too anxious to get steamrolled on purpose, so I stopped playing

Hera is the best pro by miles when it comes to guides.
opponent played a really good game. the siege push was massive. im pretty sure 99% of us wouldve lost there
agianst another ~1400 thats definitly GG, too bad hera is like twice the elo 11
A 1400 player would win 0.3% of games against 2800. They’ll have to play 334 games before Hera loses one game .

Damn this guy played pretty well. Probably would have crushed anyone that ELO range with that attack.
Negodrama is a well known player on brazilian community. Great guy! He is always present and moderator of brazilian pros twitch and youtube channels.
This series is great, your knowledge of how players play differently based on their elo is very good. Also, great strategy and analysis of the game. Well done!
This video shows exactly how we players at that elo play and make mistakes. You made me see what things we do wrong. Great job dude!
Appreciate you showing Scouts into Archers opening. Thank you vm, Hera.
Finally got the series updated, your fan is here!!!
Love these episodes & how you explain everything🔥🔥🔥
I always throw and lose mid - late game. Thank you for showing how to recover after losing your advantage! So helpful.
fantastic content for me a random 1350 player, hope i can improve as your episodes of this series go 11
Very nice video, and some important lessons there. The most important one for me - patience.

Id go thumbring if im getting a faster imp, otherwise pikes holds a big castle age😊

Bengali doesn't have camel so that would be why. 2 pikes cost 1 camel also, and a camel straight up will still lose to a knight. They are more cost effective, but not the stronger unit
