  • Some people are thinking about living in Chapala Mexico. Other people are thinking about living in Ajijic Mexico. Or, some people are just thinking about living in Lake Chapala Mexico. Of course, Lake Chapala Mexico is a lake, the biggest lake in the country of Mexico. Ajiji is a very popular place. There are many Americans and Canadians that live there and many speak zero Spanish. Chapala Mexico is only ten miles from Ajijic but it is very expensive and the prices are going up very high and very rapidly. Some people call Ajijic the San Francisco of the Lake Chapala Area.
    If you are thinking about living in Lake Chapala Mexico, you may really want to take a look a Jocotepec Jalisco. Like living in Chapala Mexico or living in Ajijic Mexico, Jocotepec has the best climate in Mexico and is only about thirty miles from Ajijic and Chapala.
    Jocotepec is the name of the town and Jalisco is the state. Jalisco is a very big state. Puerto Vallarta is in the state of Jalisco as well as Guadalajara, Ajijic and Chapala.
    The thing about Jocotepec is it is much cheaper than Ajijic and Chapala. It is the sleeper town like maybe Ajijic was sixty years. Ago. In this video, I talk about living in Lake Chapala Mexico, but more specifically about living in Jocotepec Jalisco. I will show you on a map where Jocotepec is located. We will visit Jocotepec for a beg festival, and I will tell you what some Americans that live there said about living in Lake Chapala Mexico in Jocotepec. These are four Americans that have lived there for about seventeen years each. We will take you on a very small tour and you will see a sunny day in a town with the best climate in Mexico.

    My wifes father looked at buying an Inn in Jacotopec. At that time,the 1950/s it was the oldest continuously operating inn in the Americas. They didnot buy it as he felt the city was too Mexican and his daughter would lose all contact with her native country there. Instead, they settled in Guadalajara. Evidently there was an EX pat US community there. They often went to AJIJIC and Chapala. Both of those had a considerable number of EX pats. My wife loved Mexico and wants to return there soon.

      Hi Kenn, I lived in Guadalajara for 3 or 4 years, I really enjoyed it and yest they do have actually a big expat community there and that was great. I also lived in Chapala and Ajijic. Both have strong expat communities and what was very helpful because expats helped me get many things done and told me where many thing were at. I have visited Jocotapec many a time. It is a cute little place and they do have quite a few Expats living there, and from what I hear, that group is getting bigger and bigger.

    • @BillDallasLewis
      @BillDallasLewis  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Phish,
      That is a very interesting learning curve. If you go to Chapala, all over the city, people are selling fresh fish right out of the lake everyday. You can see fisherman fishing and catching fish, each and everyday. But for the whole time I lived on the lake, I never ate the fish. Many locals eat the fish, I don´t know any Canadians or Americans that eat the fish. The lake is very poluted. What you can do is go to any Gringo group on Facebook, there are many in Chapala and Ajijic, and ask the Gringos, ¨Do you eat the fish out of the lake?¨ I will say that 99.9% will say no. Never, ever ever. Most of the resturants don´t serve fish from the lake, they serve ocean fish brought in from the coast. I think you can go there and catch lots of fish. But then, what will you do with it. People don´t swim in the lake either. So go to some Facebook groups and ask around. Lots of fish to be caught, but then, what do you do with them.
      Best,
      Bill

      Many times I have seen a large group of small sail boats on the lake. Once in a while I have seen somewhat large boats on the lake. But usually, the only boats on the lake are the people that are fishing. I know 2 guys that fish on the lake every weekend, early Saturday morning, but they do it for sport and throw the fish back in. They say the would never eat the fish. The lake is totally safe to look at, but to eat the fish or to swim in it, do that at your own risk.
