Loved this! Made me smile! I stayed for one month in 2009 in Ajijic, but have heard Jocotepec is more quaint and laid back. I'll be nearing retirement in 6 yrs and think it will be a snowbird destination for me. Can't wait!!
We have a list of possible places to move to permanently, and Jocotopec is now on our list of definitely must go and explore. THANK YOU for the information and the warm invitations.
What an amazing video , interviewing both Native people and those who left their native land to go. So many wonderful places in Mexico it’s great to hear all the views possible for each one . I’ve heard nothing but good things about Jocotepec , if God wills I’d love to visit , even consider a move

Outstanding video! The best of all the videos done on lakeside communities. A great mix of people, history and culture. Curious if you can recommend any videos done on Guadalajara.
I loved this video! Did not know much @ all about Jocotepec until now, after watching this video. Hey, the people in this video have welcomed me so now, I don't want to disappoint them... I'll be visiting soon. Once this Covid-19 ("Corona") virus pandemic is over. I believe many stores and eateries are closed right now. Thereafter, I am looking forwards to this opportunity. Gracias!
Good job. We did a travel vlog series called Show and Tell on my channel about a family living in Jocotepec Jalisco before they moved to Akumal. They talked about the pros and cons but loved Jocotepec WAY MORE than Ajiji.
Loved your video & Jocotepec looks wonderful. I’m waiting for the borders to open once COVID is under control in the US & cannot wait to tour Lake Chapala towns & possibly never go back! Thank you for this video 😊☮️💖
Thanks for tour feedback 😀 I don’t know where you live but there is no problem traveling to Mexico from US and back by air, I do it every few weeks. Hope to see you in Joco sometime. Miguel
My return trip to relocate in Chapala has been delayed due to the Corona 19 virus. This brings tears to my eyes, what I experienced in Ajijic and Chapala lines up with all that was spoken of in this wonderful video. Now, I must spend time in Joco, before settling down in Chapala. My future roommate has walking challenges, are the side walks better in Joco than Ajijic or Chapala? Did they ever set hours limiting the times for loud explosions in Joco? There were weeks in Ajijic that cannon like BOOMS would go off late in the night and early in the morning beginning in November but going into January. In Chapala the second floor apartment was a block away from the church bells that rang at 7am, 7:15am and 7:30am, plus any other hour that celebrated one of the almost weekly celebrations. For me, I said they were celebrating life long before I arrived, it is Their Country, and the Mexicans have been gracious to allow me to be there. So, I won't complain. I loved it and look forward to returning.
Thank you Joy for your comment. Since Covid-19 I have heard pactically no exploding rockets, and I understand a federal law now limits the qualtity and sound levels , with luck they will never return.
i just came back (1st time) from Vallarta. I wanted to go to Guad this time but it was too hot. Next trip. Is there a bus that goes from Guad to Jocotepec and Aijjic? Thanks for this video
+Sandy Lee Yes Sandy, there is a bus about every hour from Guadalajara to Jocotepec, costs two to three dollars. It departs feom the “old” bus terminal then passes by Plaza del Sol. From Joco there are buses to Ajijic. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I'm on my way. Now, I think I must drive a u-haul for about $750 because I have two dogs. I cant find any place that will allow me to travel with two dogs. The airlines are all freaked out about dogs now, after a few poor pups have died. And Amtrak only goes to Tijuana. The Greyhound only allows one dog. So it looks like I must drive. I dont own a car and I would pay just as much to rent a car as to drive a uhaul. Huh? Any insight out there? Can I drive straight to Jocotepec?

Just found your video, we were looking at ajijic but looks like Joco is more laid back. Being isolated as you are, what is the percentage of COVID cases in your area? We are so anxious to take the trip but we are hesitant because of the virus.
Ajijic is more “American” style living, but Joco is definitely more laid back. As for the Covid pandemic, Joco had no cases many months into the crisis, but the most recent unofficial count is less than 100 cases and 8 deaths, all were diabetics. Thanks for your comment and hope to see you in Jocotepec.
Most of the times people listen what the other people said about bad things!!, no, just come to visit Jocotepec and will see the type of life in this area, from Jocotepec thru Chapala there are thousands of US and Canada citizens living a life in peace and happy.
The Instituto Loyola (among a few others) in the neighboring town of Ajijic (about 10 miles from Jocotepec) provides elementary level classes in english. My sister and I were about that age when we moved there, we attended school in spanish, and in a mere six months we were fighting in that language :-). We never forgot english as we continued speaking it with our mother. I hope this information helps and good day.@@Calilovenanicastro

Hello Pat. For some it may be simple lack of effort but in general it is just the common pronunciation. I have a friend that speaks english and spanish at native level without an accent in either, yet when he speaks english he pronounces many or most spanish words gringo style. Thanks for the comment.
Exactly. I think it’s disrespectful to live somewhere for so long and not learn the language. Worst yet to tote that as a benefit of living there. Very thoughtless and entitled.
