Welcome back to NC Wallie. There’s a lot of great abandoned places to explore here. You just gotta know where to look. I enjoy doing the same thing. People like you are a big part of my inspiration for making videos. Hello from Urban Explorer to Urban Explorer 🖐✌️
I swear Wallie, ever since I subscribed to your channel, any time I'm having a crappy day and I'm really in the mood to watch an Urban Exploring video and do so while relaxing on my couch, you upload a new video. Thank you for this!! I know it will be cool!
I'm sorry to hear that you have a crappy day whenever you do. Im glad we're able to help cheer ya up a bit with a video. I just haven't been uploading lately. I've had so much going on with our Texas trip, getting back home, back to work, etc. But anyway, I hope you enjoy and have a great day!
For anyone who's curious about the building's history: the building was built sometime between 2002 and 2005, and as early as 2007 was known as Backyard Burgers. Then as early as 2015 it became Hardee's and closed sometime in 2017/2018.
Hey, Wallie...that area is just South of the Greensboro airport, better known as Piedmont Triad International Airport (which is the major airport serving Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem), down along NC Highway 68. That Hardee's was actually the SECOND tenant for the building, some years back, Backyard Burgers had actually been there, while the Biscuit King next door was a KFC/A&W combo. My guess is Sheetz across the way was responsible for both restaurants finally giving up the ghost over time. And Hardee's actually had another restaurant further up onto "Old NC 86," or Old Airport Road, it's now a local spot called Caroline's Diner (and the food there was actually good, last time I dined there). But what makes that area unique is up along Old Airport Road, up the road from Bojangle's, and near McDonald's and Exxon, was that Shoney's had been located up there in that area (I THINK it's since been demolished, although the highway sign may be up), and if you head further down NC 68 South into High Point (aka "Furniture City USA," known for its furniture manufacturing and showrooms), there's the old Oak Hollow Mall, a nice little mall that once housed Sears, Belk's, Goody's, and Dillard's department stores. That mall is now in the process of being converted into a multi-use project for nearby High Point University. Hardee's HAS been making a comeback here of sorts after years of too much expansion, but I guess that location didn't pan out as well as they hoped.
A great video, Wallie and Kayla! As for Hardee's, I only ate there when Hardee's had their chicken. When they had stopped serving the chicken, I stopped eating at Hardee's . Have a KMartlicious Day!
Good to see you. You were in my area. I'm in asheboro nc 40 minutes from Greensboro. Yea alot of empty restaurants. They just torn down a Hardee's near me.it caught fire a few months ago. Don't know if they will rebuild. And they are tearing down a first horizon bank to put in a cook out restaurant which will be good close to the house
Hi guys I have pretty bad nausea since Monday evening and last night I felt like throwing up but I keep avoiding throwing up but I’m happy watching abounded places
There used to be an abandoned mall in Greensboro at the corner of Cone Blvd and US 29. It was called Carolina Circle Mall and they tore it down about 15 years ago. Shame you can't get to see it; would've been perfect for your channel.
Hello.I live in Raleigh.I lived in Greensboro 1998-99 off Lawndale Dr.I used to go to Carolina Circle Mall back then it didn't have many stores.Walmart over there now.
@@gregorycyr9272 wow. I the neighborhood I grew up in was actually off Lawndale Drive. I was born in 1995 so I only really remember it being abandoned, but I do vaguely remember going to Montgomery Ward with my parents to get an oven for their going out of business sales. However, from my understanding, the mall was pretty successful in the late 70s through the mid 80s. But when the neighborhoods around it started turning bad and housing projects started popping up nearby, that was when the mall really began to decline. And yep, there's a Walmart there now along with some other stores.
@@devonmoody615 WOW.You just ruined my day,you made me feel old(lol)Just kidding.I was born in 1963.I was in Greensboro 2 weeks ago.Nice town but sadly I see a lot of poverty.I stayed at a hotel across from 4 seasons mall and seen a lot of homeless. We have homeless in Raleigh to.Sad.
Hardee's and carl's jr are both my favorite southern restaurants, the last, most recent time I went to a carl's jr was during a family trip to phoenix a few years back during the summer during dinner time late one night during a gas stop, my older sister complained and yelled at me asking why I liked fast food so much, but I didn't answer, lol!:).
I pass by 4 or 5 abandoned hardee's a week. They closed down so many locations over the past 2-3 years here that theres only a few left. There was one in every town around here back in the 90's.
I believe there are still 2 Hardee's left in Greensboro - one on Randleman Rd & one on Westridge off of Battleground Ave (just in case you ever have a craving & are in town)
@@gregorycyr9272 Yes - may have been before COVID or since it started. They closed super early- I think it was basically there to cater to the people who work downtown 9-5 during the week.
Thanks for sharing this one wallie I am eatting McDonald’s watching ya and thinking of ya buddy but ya it would not take long for someone to take over that building looks new still
Looks like a newer (2000s+) build. Usually when I see closed Hardee's they're the older locations built in the 70s/80s. Hardee's is very common in rural North Carolina towns.
Just looked at the Street View history and this was originally a Backyard Burgers... I knew this didn't look like a typical Hardee's, especially with the shape of the sign.
I just found old video of mine from 2006 of me driving through and getting video of a closed Hardees along Market Street in York. It became a Mexican restraunt for years. Then it moved down the road to the closed Perkins. So now it sits empty again. I'll have a comparison video up soon in a week or two.
That building at front area to me kinda looks like castle just by little bit not to much but little bit 8:22 and I could be wrong on this but I wonder if it was something else by looking it kinda makes me wonder on that judging by how looks on that I don't know but again I could be wrong on that.
I feel that a strong majority of Greensboro is abandoned……. But welcome back to NC. GSO is close to where I live but NC has a lot of Sheetz and Bojangles.

Dang ive never seen one of those newer style Hardee’s abandoned but im now curious about that Biscuit King lol
This is the most modern Hardee’s building I have ever seen. Our Hardee’s buildings are still the old 80’s style.
There's another abandoned Hardee's in the downtown area with an older building design from the 70's/80's
Yes there is, I see it every time I come up from Asheboro, on my way to my appointment on Battleground Avenue... It's just past the YMCA...
Now a Starbucks

That hardees was poorly run and never capitalized on its busy location.

Funny Kayla jokingly mentioned it "Purplesboro", as purple and green are my two top favorite colors! Greensboro, Purplesboro!
Going out 279 north then taking ivory ave to the hardees in millvale this morning
