I just watched the Love Witch and I just loved the way they filmed it. Horror movies from that time period are my favorites. I love how they do the effects, camera work, acting all of it. So from the driving scene, I was instantly sold and so ready. I'm a big big fan of 60s/70s media and art styles, so this was a perfect modern movie for me. Great review on it!
I love this movie. I did have to check the time it was made. I thought I was watching a remastered movie from the 60s or 70s. It felt like I was watching another amazing movie from the past. I love Barbarella and Suspiria. This movie is great.
Love this movie. I've watched it twice already (once on Prime, once on Shudder). I was amazed by how much this movie looked and felt like a '60's movie. Glad you liked it, too!
I used to live across the street from her Love House :) a great movie! The effort put into the settings, like finding everything at vintage shops or making them is commendable!
have you seen Viva? Anna Biller's first film, it's not horror but is very much in the same 60s style as The Love Witch. It's not quite up to the same standard but is an interesting watch.
Love this video and your amazing channel please stay safe and strong love from your number one Australia fan John ❤️❤️❤️ been praying for you and your family
I haven't seen Love Witch but it sounds like it would really be up my alley. 😻👩🦰🕷🕸 I can totally concur with your comment on Baz Lurhman's films as I really wasn't a fan of Moulin Rouge.
@@MarieMcWilliams I hear Ya. I love the technicolor look. And the leading lady is very pretty. She actually plays Abigail Foldger in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
I thought the movie was terrible. I shut it off after 20 minutes. Bad acting, strong feminism, overbearing narcissistic attitudes. If the lead actress showed nudity in the first sex scene, it would have drawn you more into believing her character .. that no man could withstand or survive her sexuality. Initially the movie reminded me of "Under the Skin", where in both movies a beautiful, detached, other worldly woman seeks out males as objects to solely suit their purpose with tragic results.
Im sorry but after watching and reading many reviews i still dont get how this is supposed to be a feminist movie? 1. Elaine entire existence is focused on finding a husband. 2. I get the idea of the power of women but is the only thing we have our bodies? This movie perpetuates the idea that women can only be loved by men for their bodies.
The movie definitely isn't showing any of that as a good thing. It's showing how bad it is to make a point towards feminism. In this case, the story is all about how Elaine's point of view is destructive to herself and the world around her, plus how even her feminist friend can fall prey to that toxic mindset by simply wanting to be beautiful and desired. It also shows how the image of witchcraft can appeal to feminist values but also be misused and sexualized by creepy men. So it's kind of a cautionary tale if anything

I had to Google it to confirm it was indeed a modern movie!!

I can't believe I haven't watched this yet. The look of it is dead-on.
You would love it! Honestly I had to Google it because I refused to believe it was a modern movie
great review :)

No!!! I'll have to see if I can find it because I loved the style of this one
So, did the Elaine character commit suicide after murdering Griff? The ending is ambiguous but there are subtle clues.
I don't think so personally but maybe that's because I don't want her to lol
How they edit as 60’s cinematic film

You should try again, watch whole movie and see where it goes.

And it doesnt feel satire, like a male fantisy? Because elaine talks down on men
