    hello. First time writer here. In you last video you mention that your parents are coming to visit. May i suggest visiting open air museum of Lithuania. Its a museum of old Lithuanian houses and how they lived in that time. Just that the museum is in Rumšiškės, near Kaunas. Also great videos :)

    As somebody studying science, lined paper is the bane of my existence and I regret buying a few big A4 ones on accident instead of graph ones :') Honestly, there are no reason to have big lined ones when you're studying here. You either won't write down that much (a foreign language class) or the teacher doesn't like big ones as she likes to collect them and mark your homework. And with carrying a few other A4 ones, you definitely don't want to add to that weight. Carrying a 7kg backpack is no joke. Oh yeah, adults here prefer using small, diary type notebooks :) Never seen others used.

      So different! But for science class in the US, we also use graph paper :) I've noticed that the lines on lined paper is much larger here - our lined paper at home is much more narrow for older students/adults.

    • @S3l3ct1ve
      @S3l3ct1ve 3 роки тому

      @@LifeinLithuania The lines might be wider due to the metric system used in manufacturing and pretty much everywhere else. For example the graph paper - two collums is exactly 1 centimeter wide. So a student can use it as a basic ruler if he needs it :) I guess they use the same machines for the line paper as well, they just remove vertical lines, so the gaps are wider probably at 1 centimeter wide.

    In school's students use lined notebooks, but mostly just for language classes. Most of them prefer graph notebooks. I prefer graph notebooks too. It's good for writing too, and it's better if you want to draw something up - some graph, etc. It's more universal. I can't remember seeing a student in university that used lined notebook. Adult's usually use graph notebooks too. If there would be no language classes in schools, i think it would be even harder to find lined notebooks.

    • @LifeinLithuania

      oh wow, that explains it! i would honestly never choose to write on graph paper - we only use that for math/science class in the US. that is such a random cultural difference 😅

    That demonstration was probably on Sakartvelo's (Georgian) independence day. As for why such gestures exist so far away, in 2008 Russia started a war in Georgia and occupies parts of the country to this day, similar to Ukraine. Lithuania is a very vocal supporter of the non NATO countries in the East that have become victims of Russian Imperialism (Belarus, Ukraine, Sakartvelo)

    Yes we all write on grid thats what we do. No one uses plain paper note books. Plain note books are viewed more for drawing and sketching not writing. I have graduated from uni in uk and in at least my class in england we all had note books with grid. Maybe this is a european thing?

    Line notebooks are useless - you can easilly write on graph and you write more compactly. It's more convenient to draw a quick table of something. Never in my adult life have I ever reached for line paper, even when i was studying foreign languages. Kids do use line paper in language lessons, but theirs are smaller, a only use a B sized ones. A4 is not popular in lines.

      we have 'college ruled' paper in the US which is narrow, for writing smaller. i would never use graph paper as a diary lol different strokes for different folks 🤷‍♀️
