I have one and absolutely love it. Great family car. So bored of having SUVs. Extremely comfortable, drive assist is perfect. Plenty of power for overtaking. Range is ample enough for my families needs. I rarely drive more than 200 miles without a break so we all stretch our legs while its charging for 20 mins. A charge at home where 90% of our charging is done costs about £7. Very happy with it. I had the 20inch wheel option but switched to the standard 19s. The 20s affected the ride comfort too much and made it harsh.
Wouldn't waste my time or money looking at or buying a vw . I have a 1st edition vw id4 and when it had 92000 kilometres on it i rang my vw dealer to book it in for warranty work . When they gave me a date months out and when i brought it in they said it was no longer under warranty because it was over 100000 kilometres. Terrible way to treat customers. So ill never buy vw again . And 3 year warranty is way to shorts by todays standard. Great channel Derek.
Surely that's a dealer fault rather than the manufacturer? That dealer should be named, even if you mentioned the location so people would know to avoid it in the future.
I own an i3S and a Vivaro-e. The 1250kg i3 is averaging 4.5 miles per kWh and we have driven over 150 miles in it before charging it up when on longer journeys. The van weighs 2600kgs with me driving it (I have cleaning equipment fixed within the van) and its 50kwh battery is good for 40 useable kwhs of energy. In the winter this means 95 realistic miles and I’ve yet to drive it in warmer weather, but I saw an average of 2.5 miles per kWh in October over 1000 miles. Both vehicles are super cheap to run as long as I’m doing so from home. Trips cost more but they’re rare and we don’t mind paying the extra for the convenience of the public network. I keep reviewing cars for when I sell the business and am comparing all EV reviews with an iX40 and the latest Tesla M3, both of which have proven real world ranges of hundreds of miles. I don’t see the point in replacing the i3 with a car four times the price for an extra (and very likely) 50 miles. Geoff
Most interesting location with better charging than many such places in the UK. I like most VWs from the outside but just do not like the inside. There is the residual half life decay of the Cariad software, then the now dated look of an iPad on the dashboard, plus all the glossy black and capacitive buttons. For €66k as driven or €76k if you need 4WD (I do) then there are alternatives. This review comes shortly after the preview for the DS No 8, a car which shows real originality. Somehow I just can not see VW in the premium touring/sedan category with its present offerings.
Derek I have a 77kwh Born , and after a long term of ownership you begin to understand the limitations of a 77kwh battery especially in relation to the size of the car. Anyone who buys a car this size with a 77kwh battery is essentially burning their money. These cars need to be minimum 90kwh plus like in the Mercedes. As with evs no one takes into consideration an estate car will be weighed down with passengers and luggage.
Yes an electric Passat. At its price it has plenty of competitors with more teck. Overall an improvement internally but haptic buttons and the window controls let it down. Des
@@NevoEVReviewIreland some people like it as the old one, some people want modern and we do have this choice now with EV's because electric allows more non standard designs
5 🌟 Ashford castle 🏰 and VW Id something most people will never afford. Then again I wouldn't dream of purchasing a VW, with the shenanigans going on there at the moment.
How should Tesla have the better package? Nearly everything important is better in the ID.7. Ride quality, assist systems, seats, charging curve, light, steering,... . Software gimmcks don't matter in everyday use.
Had a model y for 3 years... can't wait to get rid of it. The most uncomfortable car I have ever driven. Hard seats, ludicrously hard ride. I've ordered a Tourer S, mainly for the stark difference!

Great to hear from an actual owner!
Lovely looking car. Nice work VW.
Finally a review of the 77KWhr without Dynamic chassis control, good job. Already got one on order and glad that you thought suspension was ok.

The flagship electric VW and yet they are still too mean to put gas struts on the bonnet
Is there any word on a new or remodelled ID4 coming in 2025 or 2026?
Shocking price

Is the bigger battery version enough do you think?
@
For an estate of that size I’d say no
The ID.7 Tourer should make up for the demise of the Passat Wagon in the Irish market.
You'd hope so
"Maybe I am making that up"
I don't know why but it made me laughed so hard. LOL :)
I think it is 91 kWh (86 kWh usable)
Thanks. Was there talks of an even larger 99kWh battery?

I have an ID4. I quite like the haptic buttons tbh.
They've a fair bit of catching up to do with the competition. Coming from a VW die hard through the years
With what? Would agree with the first generation of ID3 and ID4, but the ID7 is barely beaten by anything right now.
Saw my first one a few days ago.
It might be big and comfortable and technically good but it looks like a relic from the 1990's.
Such a dated design.
is it ?? if they named it Passat ??
Maybe I like dated design but I like it

gibt es de auch mit richtigem motor ? oder nur den elektro schrott???
Always enjoy your channel but forgive me when I nearly nodded off halfway through that VW video! God that’s a dull car
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm fairly dull myself
Can't beat the overall package of the Tesla Model Y
Very true too.

The price doesn't make sense. Anyway, after the 1. year It's gonna cost half the price.
Nonsense.
