My problem with certain inserts is when publishers don't give consideration to people who sleeve cards. When my sleeved cards don't fit into the inserts, into the garbage the insert goes. It can be frustrating at times.
I have a problem with the publishers that say they have space for sleeved cards but do not say that it's true only if you the thinnest, cheapest sleeves (not industry standard sleeves)

Yeah that always seems to be a divisive thing is see.
@@hermanturnip3984 Right on! That’s how I got into 3D printing. Game Developers that are confident about their games should know that we would care for it and sleeve it. Would it kill them to add a 2 to 3 mm to the inserts?
It pisses me off even more, when people don't use timestamps in their top10 lists. And not even include cover of the game or something when they talk about it (Man VS Meeple)

i wish something to SHOW me at times. doesnt have to be a lot
I don’t mind if timestamps are just numbered. At least I can always scroll forward. But here‘s another one as we are approaching the season again: what pisses me off is that everyone thinks he needs to put out a personal Top 100 - and then splits this up into 10 (!!) separate videos which are released over a few weeks. WTF ? Just get it out there all at once. Or at least break it up into fewer videos. It‘s not that UA-camrs need to copy the release schedule of new TV series where they release an episode a week only.

OOOOOOHHH. I wanna do that! although...i'm kinda lazy. maybe like a super fast 100-76, 75-50, 49-26. Then more detailed 25-11 and 10-1. or maybe just super fast all the way through
I love stretch pay!..it’s super convenient with cost of games getting higher and higher. I’m also one that doesn’t let FOMO bother me. I only have 1 game being paid for at a time usually cause I don’t buy a lot. It was really helpful for Ravaged Star where I spent almost $1000 and was able to space out payments.
You say you don't let FOMO bother you yet you are here spending $1K because you can do it with stretch pay? It's super convenient for these companies because they get people buying stuff they otherwise wouldn't
I use stretch pay but not for why most people do. I don’t like giving hundreds of pounds up front to any company. I split up the payments so if they go bust or run off with the money I’m not potentially exposed to the whole amount Heroes of the pacific by devil pig would have been a prime example of it was on Gamefound
@@NeilY1000 how does this work??? Since as far as I know, you already paid everything at the time, when it should go to delivery. You just dont pay immediately. But if they will f*** you up, it doesn't matter if you strech payment
@@tadej.vengust not sure what you mean. I pay by credit card, and the provider (Gamefound) takes an instalment which is usually 1/10 th of the final amount. If the company goes bust 1 month after the crowdfunding ends then I can call my card company and claim a chargeback. If after all my payments are taken then yes I’m still screwed but this gives me a lot more breathing space and reduces my risk. And I should also add that my money is still in my savings account rather than in someone else’s earning me interest
@@tadej.vengust Rule number 1. Only pay if stretch pay is available from start i.e. gamefound. Ideally don't back at all during the initial campaign and only back in the pledge manager. Stretch pay is normally about 10 payments ...so if you do this you pay 1/10th ish of the final amount. If you do back only ever go for the lowest pledge available especially on kickstarter If the company goes bust in the meantime or does a mythic games then you can request a chargeback and dispute the rest of the payment. If you have paid all your installments well then your stuffed but at least you ..... keep your money in your own savings account earning you interest. during the whole process I have no debt, and use stretch pay purely to reduce risk of being screwed over. Its a tool. Never borrow money you cant afford to repay immediately.
#1 -- Totally agree and I am the person who clicks through not finding any game I am interested in and never visit that content creator again. Maybe that is what they want? #2 -- Inserts have sucked forever. Most inserts are there just to pretect components during shipping and do a horrible job for organization. They should be designed to get the game to the table faster. I also hate the 3rd party inserts that cost more than the game that were designed to solve a problem the publisher/creator should have solved in the first place. Another trend, games are no longer coming with plastic bags so now I need to purchase my own bags so I can trash the insert which sucks. I agree, if you need a video to tell me to rebox the content, you are doing it wrong. #3 -- Expansions in many cases are just another way to get more money. Many expansions are not good value, and many times not required. I wish the expansions had their own box so instead of one box it is just two boxes instead of four boxes. I typically only purchase the base game before I decide I need the expansions. Many of the expansions are not just not necessary. #4 -- I agree with all your opinions on this point. I can afford to pay it outright but use Strech Pay because I hate they take my money for two years without getting anything so i rather they just take a bit at a time. I have a separate CC just for crowd funding, so I know exactly how much I am spending, and I do not go over my budget for the year. I liked this video. I hope you do more. My #1 complaint is the rulebooks and how trash many of them happen to be.
“Inserts that cost as much as the game” Literally the worst. I’m tired of “upgrade” components, including inserts, becoming significantly more expensive. When it costs more than the game itself… like cmon!

Oh you know that is already part of another one i've filmed. RULEBOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKSSSS
MIcroloans (IE - Stretch Pay) is sinking people under 35's finances. It's in every aspect of life and it's ruining people's finances, which means they are experiencing more anxiety and depression over the future. It would be great as a society to reject these microloan strategies. I recognize there are always unique situations, but I believe the only time you should be taking out loans, real or microloans, is for things like houses, vehicles, those things you need to work and provide. It's a divisive topic, but especially as these are luxury goods, more discipline is needed.
It is not "Stretch Pay" that is causing those problems, it is self-control and choosing your priorities. Nobody forced you to use Stretch Pay or buy now pay later or whatever else is available right now. People can just stop buying "things" period. There is nothing that you are buying, that is not essential, that you will care about in 10yrs but you will care if you are in debt that causes you emotional distress. People can just stop buying.
@SamBalducci I recognize it's not just Gamefound, it's on Amazon, Walmart, everywhere. Hopefully, we can prioritize people and interactions more and things less.
@@Chris-tp2sc "MIcroloans (IE - Stretch Pay) is sinking people under 35's financesIt's in every aspect of life and it's ruining people's finances, which means they are experiencing more anxiety and depression over the future" -- It is not Strech Pay that is the problem or the cause of "anxiety and depression". People have a choice. You can choose to use "Strech Pay". You can choose to go into debt for board games or you can choose not to go into debt at all. If you can't afford something that is frivolous, do not purchase the item. What is it exactly am I missing? The context as this is a UA-cam channel about board games. We are talking "board games" stretch pay.
The resurgence of "layaway plans" but made to work with the internet shopping. Probably far more widespread and pervasive than layaway ever was because you eliminate all the potential difficulty, shame, and hassle of dealing with layaway.
Agreed on the timestamps… so frustrating, I often just bother when I see that and I close the video too… too bad, not losing time on that, will spend my time on Chanel’s that care about real timestamps like your channel! 😬🎉
Personaly stretch pay is just a nice tool that i pay down way before schedule. I am selling a lot of my collection and that takes time. So the new stuff i want from crowdfunding i can sign up for and then pay down immediately when i have sufficient funds in my slush-account. But like any creditcard there are a LOT of people who probably shouldnt be dabbling in it. Currently have just 1 project thats not paid down (2/5) but that one will be finished later this month as soon as a couple of payments are in. Do I NEED stretch pay? Nope, can pay it all immediately, its just convenient not to draw on my savings account. I think there are a lot of problems popping up in crowdfunding these days. Primarily i have problems trusting companies that start having issues with delivery and have many projects that are not delivered and they keep starting new ones (looking at you Mythic Games and YOU Peterson Games).
I hate it if timestamps aren’t named and if there is no segmentation of the time bar, or - if that is too difficult to do - if people only briefly show the box and not keep it overlayed for the whole duration while talking about it.
Hahahaa. About the inserts I fully agree. We recently got a super fancy insert for a big box for uprising and it was really cool, but it just wasnt better than just having a big empty box full of bags.
#1 I hear you brother! Just infuriating and totally disrespectful towards the viewer. #2 Don't get me started!! #3 Sometimes it feels like expansions are just a way for the packaging industry to get their fingers into our hobby. I recently received the all-in for Dark Venture, core box, three large expansion boxes, two card deck boxes and a cassette expansion. Gathering and sorting out everything for a specific setup is just an absolute pain. Ruins the fun for what otherwise is an absolute banger of a game. 4) My gripe with Strech Pay is the absence of a "one page" managment system where you see all your plans in one place with dates and amounts for payments still to go. As long as this doesn't exists it's just predatory and anti consumer.
I completely agree with #1 and #2. I thought I was alone on #1, and baggies are still the undefeated king on #2, but I’m always hoping that they’ll be replaced some day (insert lids are a step in the right Direction).
Expansions used to be a way to introduce new concepts, AND correct flaws in the base game. Now you have to back everything, all in - sight unseen - because it might be exclusive to the project and/or it will be a little cheaper before the PM opens.
I think Stretch Pay is great as long as you’d also pay for the same thing in one lump sum. If that’s the case, there’s good reason to just stretch your payments over time. Pay the same amount but don’t tie it all up up front. Give you some flexibility and cancel without losing 10% of everything. Give you some risk mitigation in case of the next Mythic Games bottoming out. So many positives to it, if you do it properly. Agree that it can entice you to buy too much if you’re not smart with it.
I was feeling down today because yesterday I had the insert problem + taking too much space in table with two big box games that recently came, one the same game you are tailking. It's my first time that I was thinking "I prefer my baggies". I kind was stressed the entire game not because the setup was long, the setup was short enough, but putting the game inside agame was long. But just having a lot of plastic out there taking space while playing after taking things out was stressing for me that I didn't enjoy the game myself. Maybe I will sell it and get the retail edition.
I hate Unconscious Mind's insert, is the worst, the plastics were already scratched when I received it, they are juts a lid, a very bad one. As you said, "hey, you need to grab all the base game stuff from the bottom of the box, after you remove the insert for the expansion and the other for the deluxe components (yes an insert just for those!!)" and god forbid that you missed a piece.
There is no sacred cow. Once you've paid for something, you're 100% entitled to say what you want about ut in regards to opinion and review. Totally agree with you in these videos. This industry needs a shake up. Too much cancel culture on people that speak out and not enough consumer regulation on companies that are juicing them with marketing psychology
You are right on brother! All three points! The expansions really piss me off and having it fit in the box it’s so desirable how hard is it to design inserts? I end up throwing all the inserts away and 3-D printing my own so it can’t fit in one box
This! So much of this! Inserts aren't hard to do and don't need to be fancy and expensive! Make them functional, and make core boxes able to store the expansions!!!!!! As for expansions, for crying out loud, if you just out out a board game then why do you need an expansion already? I just received a game a couple of months ago and there is already talk for an expansion for replayability. Seriously? The game just came out! My biggest pet peeve is that creators need to put some effort into their components! We don't always need anything fancy, but I just got a game and the boards are nice, the score tokens and building tokens are nice wooden pieces, the cards are good stock, and then the currency is HORRIBLE! It's like cheap, tabloid style, thin paper that has already wrinkled as I was counting it out. They couldn't do better? Then, then the rulebook states that you need to keep your currency secret. So how do they expect us to do that when there are no player screens included in the game. You can't tell me five small player screens and decent currency, even if it was printed on the same card stock as the other cards, is too hard to do. It's so frustrating, and I don't want to even get going on how crazy expensive board game Inserts are becoming on the market. A board game insert shouldn't be as expensive or more expensive than the game itself!
I think Stretch pay as a 0-interest paid installments mechanism is not too bad, but it too easily allows people to rack up too much debt to comfortably handle. I think the only way for it not to feel predatory is if they had income & credit checks to ensure that you're not taking up more risk than you can comfortably manage. But that would seem like quite extreme measures for buying a boardgame lol.

Right. its a cumulative budget thing over time to mask the amount of spending
I have eclipse and suburbia deluxe, both with crazy inserts, but here they are working well. I own arcadia quest games (not all, but if you have faceless campaign for sale PM please), and lack of any storage solution kills me. I just moved from bags to some plastic boxes - helps with the setup. I know you don't want to finger point too much, but please put some pictures of ridiculous examples.
I agree with everything except the stretch pay. Sometimes, it’s a matter of budgeting but not in the sense of “can I afford this”. As a person who budgets and allocates a certain amount of money each month for “entertainment”. A feature like stretch pay allows me to flex that portion of my budget. Instead of all of it being bogged down for the month because of a crowdfunding campaign, I can spread it out and still go see a movie. It alleviates the all or nothing problem in the crowdfunding space.

I mean thats fair. like i titled right, unpopular opinions on some of these
I really enjoy this series. :D I also think that stretch pay is not the best idea and only imitates customer service. I really feel the microtransaction point. When a new game goes to kickstarter with an expansion right from the start i will always see it as cut out content that could/should have been in the base game. :D
I agree with the first point. I also agree that if you can't outright buy the game to finance it. However, i like to use it because it's like 10 years before we get our games, so it seems like a lesser time from payment to getitng the game haha But i also like late pledges. I bought Elder scrolls the last couple of days, it was open.
When I got into the hobby I was wowed at how much fun I could have with cardboards chits, dull theme, and a regular sized box. I sleeve and pay extra for deluxe tokens. I’m the problem.

Thats one reason i like the japanese games sometimes, the minimalist approach is occasionally refreshing
Regarding inserts, I want storage spots for everything. If the cards are separate, the should be stored separately (even if its a larger card separater. I hate flipping through a stack of cards to find the ones I need for a particular Scenario. The tokens are the worst!!! I hate digging through a pile of random tokens!!! Make a spot for each!
1. Timestamps - yeah I agree, what's funny is if they do it to get better statistics - it doesn't work in my case, I noticed that I'm not watching youtubers who don't put timestamps as often as the others that do. 2. Inserts - yeah, any mass produced insert is a waste of our money. My hobby is designing 3d printed inserts so I know a bit about it. Problem with mass produced inserts is that they take a lot of space (and they need to to be "cheap"), so in the end if someone gets also expansion or two - they need to throw the insert away. So in the end we're paying for bigger box, insert and custom insert from 3rd company. It's a joke! Unfortunately people are stupid and they want inserts as a part of KS... World was a better place when storage solutions were only plastic bags. There was a time where inserts were meant to speed up the game + make storing of expansion in base box possible. Now base box is just a lot bigger (sometimes 3-4x times - big box, to fit all expansions) and instruction for box organization is needed... The biggest joke for me was recent campaign for Euthia, they proposed 3 box storage solution, each box much bigger than the base game box! And okay, it's a lot of content, but I was able to store everything (including the new expansion, that I don't have yet, but I'm 99% sure that it will fit) in 2 much smaller boxes. 3. Totally agree and unfortunately I'm the guy that has FOMO, on one hand I'm not buying a lot of board games, I'm doing a huge research before buying it + it fuels my second hobby - making inserts, but on the other hand - I'm just fed up with "expansions" that -offer minis, but don't offer meeples or acrylic standees, -offer 2nd campaign, that is not much different than the 1st one, -new cards, tokens, that don't differ much from the ones from the base game, -any other expansion, that should come out in next 2-3 years if the game becomes much more popular... 4. Stretch pay - I think that the core "rules" are great, in my country we got stretch pay in popular shopping site (like Amazon) few years ago. It was great (and still is), because we're paying X money in 0% installments, so in fact we're saving money (because of lack of inflation). There are 2 problems here, first - customers need to buy something because they want / need to and not because they "can afford it" (because of stretch pay), personally when I'm buying something via stretch pay I'm allocating all funds into something like separate account, 2nd - some companies are charging more because they offer stretch pay. In the end in my opinion it's not a problem with this tool, it's a problem with people, "don't hate the game, hate the players".
Uprising: CotlE was probably the best Kickstarter campaign there was, evvaaaaar. Andromeda's Edge was the last Crowdfunding I did by a big/established publisher. Only small ones or newcomers since then
1. Annoyed more than dislike 2. Inserts have traditionally been to get the game to the consumer vs function. I throw them out 9 times out of 10. 3. I generally beleive expansions are there to fix the base game and not to add. 4. In the middle. I used it already but i can see people that are not able to pay have 10 fomo projects on stripe and not afford it later
1. I tend to not to use the numbers in the way your saying, I watched the vid and then if I liked any of the games in the list I can easily just check the numbers instead of searching the vid for the games I liked. 2. Personally the Andromeda's edge insert was fine, the one that sucks is Unsettled were I sleeved all my cards and then found out that you need to throw out parts of the insert to hold sleeved cards lol. So I agree but I feel like many have different tastes when it comes to inserts. 3 I am 50/50 on this, because it can go another way as well. Like my biggest issue is they throw in solo or 5th player expansions in the core box, were you don't really need it. I would rather have it separate cause how much more money is it adding to the core box. I had one Narrative game were they had Solo play in the core box, people wanted it separate and they did, reduced the core box by 35$. 4. Yeah, I agree, I used it for Dragon Eclipse, and I forgot I did it and 4 months later it went off and lowered my funds I was going to use for something else lol.
At first, I was like >( when listening to point four, but then as I listened more and was like "Hmmmmm". By the end, I realized "yeah, you're right. That's dirty."

It’s just tempting people to live beyond their means
It is totally. Honestly, I was like "Sweet a way I can pay for it, broken down over a series of installments. Nice!" It's like Lay-a-Way but dirtier. The temptation is certainly strong. By supporting it - that creates a trend others will soon follow in which everyone will note and start doing it too. Unsavory business practice.
Good rant! I think of game creation- especially kickstarter- is the modern gold mine. Everyone is hurrying to get their “crappy games” out- get lots of paid positive reviews and extra do-dads to make a dollar. There is a read why many games only live in kickstarter- not surviving the true market place- game creators and publishers are becoming the modern snake oil salesman but only with unintelligible rules and printed cardboard
I'm not saying I like or dislike stretch pay but crowdfunding as a whole is usually a way to separate people from their money (especially the big companies like CMON or AR, which aren't trying to make a game designer's dream of having other people play their games). In this regard I can't say that I can agree with you on stretch pay. You can make an argument that it's a bigger problem because.... xyz, but you didn't. Also I don't think it has ANYTHING to do with black Friday discounts.

I must have been good on this one regarding stretch pay because i have a lot of people disagreeing with me. So from the video standpoint of unpopular opinions I nailed it!
I can afford to pay it all at once but if those suckers want to let me pay it with inflated dollars over time, jokes on them. Granted, if you cant afford it, dont finance it, even at 0%....
I've thrown out (to recycling), many useless inserts. It's a real issue since purchasers have paid for the expense of 'designing' the inserts, & it's a waste of resources (raw materials). Let's hear it for the humble zip-lock bag!
Stretch pay just reduces the amount of free loan you give them. I'll use stretch pay any day even if its 5 dolllars a month for 6 months over paying 30 now.
I'm starting to think you are my spirit animal. Numbering : Full AGREEMENT Inserts: I like inserts, but Odin yes, make the inserts make sense... CF Expansions: Yeah, right out of the gate like that? Cash Grab Stretch-pay: Ugh, if you are gonna back, pay it right up front
1000% to your first point. i haaaaaaaaate it when content creators spoiler-hide their videos' section headers, to the point where i will actively stop watching videos if i see them do that. no idea if i am in the minority here (since i enjoy long-form videos), but if your content is good, i will watch all of it without fast-forwarding. but if you hide your sections to soft *force* me to watch everything, i will bounce.
Depends, I like to hear people talking about games, see their point of view that why I'm watching top N vids. In the end any top list is just an opinion.. I don't go there to learn something about games, if I'm interested in game then I will note it down and search for in-depth vid. In the same tone I'm here, hearing your opinion.

Reminds me how all the campaigns on crowdfunding make sure to show that each game comes with a copy of the rules. Can't wait to see the first campaigns that eventually just say they'll email it to you or you can just use the QR code on the box instead of a physical copy
Too many expansion is the main reason inserts are a confusing mess. I have got to the point where I prefer just getting a base game. There are a few exceptions of course. I would like to call out unconscious mind as another example of needing a video to re-box it. There are just too many individual components, and the miniatures + tray was a complete waste of space and money.
@@aeryellae5837 Oh, I am aware they are there, but there's a lot of different wells for the various tokens and decks. the point being there is such a thing as too much.
Expansions. I hate when they put something which should be already part of base game into extra money. Arnak with leaders is first thing on my list that enrages me. Also expansions which gives no real value to the game, just adding more stuff, only to clutter your card deck with unbearable number of things I can't memorize, in a game where planning your deck should be strategized.
The leaders definitely shouldn't be in the base game. In fact, the base game falls apart with the leaders in it, which is why they had to introduce different temple tracks for them. Arnak's base game is a pretty traditional base game. It's a good base, and if you don't play the game religiously, it's all you need. If you play the game frequently, you may want the leaders expansion to give yourself more variety.
I wonder if your issue is less with stretch pay and more with a lack of financial eduction for most people. I use stretch pay all the time. No I'm not strapped for cash, no I don't have issues paying my bills. It's just an easier hit to allocate 20-30 a month for a few months than drop 200+ at once. I have a monthly budget and I know what my expenses are. So a small hit over time is easy to plan for. That big hit would strap me financially for that pay period and it isn't necessary. That's a me thing, I know. But stretch pay isn't the enemy here I don't think.
I dismiss not including informative tags as just laziness - maybe I'm too generous. A useful storage insert is great, but I usually just use baggies. By the way, what's the big deal with tops not closing totally - so what.
Місяць тому
i personally don't care. but if you're designing an insert where part of the objective is to help prevent that and it doesnt do it....then we have a problem
Stretch pay helps with the cope. I would never use it if I didnt already have the money to pay for it. If CTGs Elder Scrolls game didnt have it, i still wouldve back, but id rather not have the one big charge and instead split it up over 12 months(which is the longest ive seen strech pay set up for). Stretch pay is also available for plenty of online game stores with afterpay or if they take paypal, paypal has their own pay in 4 option. But ive never heard anyone bother to talk about that even though its a similar premise, but just less hype/homo
Agree with most, but I think you are missing the point on stretchpay, at least in my opinion. Compare it to a budget - you put aside a but for when that big bill comes in 6 months or so… same thing here for me. I put aside some for my games, but being that boardgames and boardgame companies are bloody impossible to plan for timewise, when are they putting new stuff out, how much, what do they cost, etc. Stretch pay makes me able to plan both ahead, and “catch up” in a few months afterwards if needed. Or you might decide that you need to save up a bit more and buy it secondhand in a few months, no problem…. Again, something that not all of us have the choice of doing. Just get it in retail or from their store later then? Far from always an option for non-US residents im afraid. So to be honest Chris, I think your opinion might be influenced by having more options for getting it later, secondhand. Etc. Options that not all of us have.

no i understand. like i said, its in the unpopular opinion video for a reason
How in the world is that clickbait. Clickbait like so many other buzzwords are thrown out there willy nilly. If the title is a top 10 then the time stamps are where you can find nummer 10 to 1 on the timeline. If a content creator does not want to spoil what the games are in those entries then he does not have to. If that is the thing that pisses you off then i dont know what to tell ya. It is so insignificant that i just dont get it. Not gonna waste my time on time stamps. Pun not intended but apreciated lol. Also people wil click away anyway. Does not matter if there is a number and they click on it then see the title or they see the title in the time stamp.
I'm sick of all the justifications people make when they sell their expensive kickstarter games. "Not going to the table enough", "making room in the shelves", "I don't have time" etc. Never do I see these guiltridden excuses when people sell other things online.
It’s actually true because the big expensive kickstarters are often massive shelf hogs and you want the latest shiny but can only retain so many before you need a bigger house!

What crowd funding campaigns are you even looking at that you're going to have the product in your hands before you've finished your stretch payments? None of them let you stretch it out that long.
Yeaah, these day, so many content creators, and work, family, etc., etc., there is simply not so much timr to listen all of those thoughts anymore. Games are also so many, soo, so many.. so I tend to check by timestamps what particular game ranks on that place and move on.. 😊
Lol Made me think of The Great Wall (or most Awaken Realms games). One of the best games I've played...NEVER gonna buy it because of that 45+ min setup with all those inserts. I know that may not be a big deal for many, but for someone that picks out and plays games on the fly, not great.

so much time of my life with that setup/teardown i can never get back
Agreed. The stretch pay is a really bad idea for this hobby. The inserts aren't a huge deal to me cause I will very quickly start throwing things away and putting things in bags. I dont care if they label and timestamp the videos, but yes, i typically click through and don't typically learn or grow from the video. So I try not to look down there.
100% agree with stretch pay. It’s predatory and will get people in financial trouble. HOWEVER, I will say that despite being able to outright back something, I do stretch pay when available because of the whole “money now is worth more than money later”. With inflation and the purchasing power of the dollar going down, despite ever so slightly, it’s smart to stretch pay (only if you can already afford it to buy outright). But again, to the vast majority, getting in more “debt” is such a bad idea. Even if you change your mind halfway you don’t get all your money back and it’s now worth less than when you paid.
Місяць тому
i mean i understand it both ways. i just think and hope it doesnt change in the future. it could potentially be a slippery slope
Instead of giving feedback to designers to bake better game scalability designs in games. pay for another game for 2 AND a game for 3-4 that says that it could be played at 2. This is the consumer’s fault. The publisher is there to make money. Coming up soon, from the same people that brought you Name of game Duel! Name of game Solo! 😂 /facepalm
I hate numbered only timestamps. It means you did the work, but choose to be a butthead on purpose. I agree with all of these except stretch pay. It’s not a problem but a choice. What’s the difference over putting it all on a CC and then making payments with interest. If anything it’s more consumer friendly. I get the abuse aspect, but that is 💯 consumer choice. All of the other complaints aren’t.
Gamefound introducing Stretch Pay really solidified to me that they don't care about us consumers. For all their "we are going to fix crowdfunding" vibe at the start, that all went down fast in my opinion with things like just copying Kickstarter with "funded in X" systems instead of innovating the space
I agree with Stretch Pay. It's very tempting as you know, it's 0% interest so you aren't overpaying, but come on, are we really going into debt for toys? If you get a new TV and have the option to pay it in installments instead, alright, fine, as long as you don't pay interest, but for a game? Nah, it's way too much and makes people spend way more than they can afford.
All legit points, but regarding manipulation, didn't you USians vote exactly for this not a week ago? So even an unpopular opinion on democrativ level.

What borders on stupidity? Canada and Mexico (saw this joke earlier this week and couldnt resist)
Stretchpay. You say you can afford it. Folks, do you realize that you will actually be willing to buy more if making payments. That's the issue. In the end, even if it is interest free, you spend more money on these games because you don't "feel" the pain of the purchase as sharply as you would if you knew clicking that button took all that cash put of your account at once.
I love Angry Board Game Man so much
He is such a gem.😁
I love being Angry Board Game Man
I don't back games anymore, I'm done with the taxes and shipping going beyond 50% of the pledge. That healed me from my fomo.
My problem with certain inserts is when publishers don't give consideration to people who sleeve cards. When my sleeved cards don't fit into the inserts, into the garbage the insert goes. It can be frustrating at times.
100%, especially when they have spots for everything else, and they had the space available to fit sleeved cards but chose not to.
Dumb question here…what’s he mean by “inserts”? The fliers? The plastic mold to hold the components?
Then more detailed 25-11 and 10-1. or maybe just super fast all the way through
Always great when the insert puts the important stuff in the bottom tray, and the optional stuff on top :(
AHHHH
I love stretch pay!..it’s super convenient with cost of games getting higher and higher. I’m also one that doesn’t let FOMO bother me. I only have 1 game being paid for at a time usually cause I don’t buy a lot. It was really helpful for Ravaged Star where I spent almost $1000 and was able to space out payments.
I have to agree with Chris on this one. Stretch pay is something that needs to go away.
I love stretch pay too. Interest free. No reason not to do it.
You say you don't let FOMO bother you yet you are here spending $1K because you can do it with stretch pay? It's super convenient for these companies because they get people buying stuff they otherwise wouldn't
@@SenseiJaewhat is the negative of stretch pay?
I wish Kickstarter offered by now pay later options like stretch pay. It is helpful.
I use stretch pay but not for why most people do. I don’t like giving hundreds of pounds up front to any company. I split up the payments so if they go bust or run off with the money I’m not potentially exposed to the whole amount
Heroes of the pacific by devil pig would have been a prime example of it was on Gamefound
If you do back only ever go for the lowest pledge available especially on kickstarter
If the company goes bust in the meantime or does a mythic games then you can request a chargeback and dispute the rest of the payment. If you have paid all your installments well then your stuffed but at least you ..... keep your money in your own savings account earning you interest. during the whole process
I have no debt, and use stretch pay purely to reduce risk of being screwed over.
“Inserts that cost as much as the game”
Literally the worst. I’m tired of “upgrade” components, including inserts, becoming significantly more expensive. When it costs more than the game itself… like cmon!
Oh you know that is already part of another one i've filmed. RULEBOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKSSSS
1st and agree on the timestamps listed 10-1 and no names, just click through and then not interested any more !
I'm guilty of doing that.
@@VampguyN85i do that whenever I have to, although do not feel guilty 😊

@@SamBalducci You didn't read we he wrote as your rebuttal doesn't even address what he said. You created a fake premise to argue against.

I do what I can
I really wanted food chain magnet. The price was a huge factor in me skipping it. The after pay situation felt predatory.
So much not as aesthetically pleasing plastic with that one
Chris, +1 to your thoughts on inserts. We just pay here unnecessary thing, that is imposible to use. Especialy if you want to sleeve cards.
7:00 kickstarter should recieve a class action lawsuit allowing scams on their platform alongside authors who created this kind of scams.
nah. they get paid so they don't have to care as much after. after long enough people forget unfortunately too
I really enjoy this series. Keep ‘em coming.
Hahahaa. About the inserts I fully agree. We recently got a super fancy insert for a big box for uprising and it was really cool, but it just wasnt better than just having a big empty box full of bags.
#2 - Everdell: The Complete Collection -- the boards are at the bottom of the stack of inserts.
ARG!
Excuse me Sir. I’m going to need you to put down that truth serum you’ve been swigging.
that actually made me laugh out loud
Stretch pay is fine For most of us.... If you dont like it dont use it.. thats it.
Yup. Like I said, name of the video: unpopular opinions
Regarding stretch pay, I disagree. I can afford to buy all my games at once, but I prefer stretch pay. Its spreading out my free loan.
lol, you said the words.
FREE LOAN!
Too true.
Lol so true about the countdown videos. I do think same if they're not time line labeled.
Thank you for highlighting the number issue. I recently complained about it on a video. Really annoying
Maybe I will sell it and get the retail edition.
yeah, you are so right! 100%
Very interesting to think about such things, that you adress.
Let it out all of your frustration^^
There will be plenty more to come
I hate Unconscious Mind's insert, is the worst, the plastics were already scratched when I received it, they are juts a lid, a very bad one.
I am surprised KS hasn’t started using Stretch Pay.
I wish they would.
They prefer their lump sums
You are right on brother! All three points! The expansions really piss me off and having it fit in the box it’s so desirable how hard is it to design inserts? I end up throwing all the inserts away and 3-D printing my own so it can’t fit in one box
Nice!
Just got my retail version of Andromeda’s edge. The inserts are CRAP!!!!
I totally have it btw and maybe even for sale
Thanks!
I agree with the first point.
I also agree that if you can't outright buy the game to finance it. However, i like to use it because it's like 10 years before we get our games, so it seems like a lesser time from payment to getitng the game haha
But i also like late pledges.
Timestamps take a lot of time to do. That’s why. Also, people put timestamps in incorrectly and don’t use it efficiently for SEO
If unpopular, now popular, must have something worth checking. Not just getting upset about it
Uprising: CotlE was probably the best Kickstarter campaign there was, evvaaaaar. Andromeda's Edge was the last Crowdfunding I did by a big/established publisher. Only small ones or newcomers since then
1. Annoyed more than dislike
Looking at you for inserts Resident Evil
Nice!"
It's like Lay-a-Way but dirtier.
I love that YINSH gets in frame
Soon...its time will come
I can afford to pay it all at once but if those suckers want to let me pay it with inflated dollars over time, jokes on them.
Granted, if you cant afford it, dont finance it, even at 0%....
The insert without instructons is a frustration i don't need in my life...Just tell me what goes where, why do I have a puzzle i didn't buy?
so agree
I've thrown out (to recycling), many useless inserts. It's a real issue since purchasers have paid for the expense of 'designing' the inserts, & it's a waste of resources (raw materials). Let's hear it for the humble zip-lock bag!
i want to throw out so many more than i do
Stretch pay just reduces the amount of free loan you give them. I'll use stretch pay any day even if its 5 dolllars a month for 6 months over paying 30 now.
I'm starting to think you are my spirit animal.

CF Expansions: Yeah, right out of the gate like that? Cash Grab
Stretch-pay: Ugh, if you are gonna back, pay it right up front
I do what I can
1000% to your first point. i haaaaaaaaate it when content creators spoiler-hide their videos' section headers, to the point where i will actively stop watching videos if i see them do that. no idea if i am in the minority here (since i enjoy long-form videos), but if your content is good, i will watch all of it without fast-forwarding. but if you hide your sections to soft *force* me to watch everything, i will bounce.
Depends, I like to hear people talking about games, see their point of view that why I'm watching top N vids. In the end any top list is just an opinion.. I don't go there to learn something about games, if I'm interested in game then I will note it down and search for in-depth vid. In the same tone I'm here, hearing your opinion.
yeah. i just dont like the "hiding" it aspect of not saying what they are as much
Rhyming with Bendromeda's Gedge? Hmmm... 🤣
Tidal Blades 2 insert drama was the real deal. Deluxe game no insert. Year later add on for a basic insert added to campaign. Inserts shouldn't be a selling feature or add on. Pretty soon we will see fine print saying "box not included".
Reminds me how all the campaigns on crowdfunding make sure to show that each game comes with a copy of the rules. Can't wait to see the first campaigns that eventually just say they'll email it to you or you can just use the QR code on the box instead of a physical copy
The most infamous are the non expansions. Dog Park set of cards. They were ordinary poker cards with dogs. Useless for the core game.
thats why i didnt back the second wonderlands war expansion. i wanted MORE, not something to swap in
Too many expansion is the main reason inserts are a confusing mess. I have got to the point where I prefer just getting a base game. There are a few exceptions of course.
I would like to call out unconscious mind as another example of needing a video to re-box it. There are just too many individual components, and the miniatures + tray was a complete waste of space and money.
The reboxing instructions are on the side of the box, so you don't need a video. But yes, it definitely seems overcomplicated.
@@aeryellae5837 Oh, I am aware they are there, but there's a lot of different wells for the various tokens and decks. the point being there is such a thing as too much.
Your 1st opinion is literally.... me!
Also, you don't suck haha. Unpopular opinions lead to good conversations. Nothing wrong with talking about these things!
I dismiss not including informative tags as just laziness - maybe I'm too generous.
A useful storage insert is great, but I usually just use baggies. By the way, what's the big deal with tops not closing totally - so what.
i personally don't care. but if you're designing an insert where part of the objective is to help prevent that and it doesnt do it....then we have a problem
Imagine if you just listed the timestamps as 1, 2, 3, 4 😂.
i know right. i totally should have done that to test how people really feel or to troll the comments section
Does not matter if there is a number and they click on it then see the title or they see the title in the time stamp.
like i said, unpopular opinion
I'm sick of all the justifications people make when they sell their expensive kickstarter games. "Not going to the table enough", "making room in the shelves", "I don't have time" etc. Never do I see these guiltridden excuses when people sell other things online.
It’s actually true because the big expensive kickstarters are often massive shelf hogs and you want the latest shiny but can only retain so many before you need a bigger house!
I mean...maybe they should? it would help with rampant consumerism and overspending habits across the board
Love the rant.
i hear that
Click bait only unpopular opinion was at the end … I don’t do it but I can see why people like it . Great video
lol. thanks
Great points
Thanks!
Love this video
Thanks!
Agree on the #1, #2 scam
I wouldnt say scam, but just seems to be overcomplicating things unnecessarily at times
7:00 "expansion" is a cut content scam in plain sight.
Preach.
Lol Made me think of The Great Wall (or most Awaken Realms games). One of the best games I've played...NEVER gonna buy it because of that 45+ min setup with all those inserts. I know that may not be a big deal for many, but for someone that picks out and plays games on the fly, not great.
so much time of my life with that setup/teardown i can never get back
Stretch pay for a $100 to $200 game? WTF
a lot apparently do it, at least based on the comments section here
Unpopular opinion : I'm getting more and more annoyed with UA-cam content creators artificially peddling "unpopular" options to me 🤷
can't tell if this is serious or joking...
Even if you change your mind halfway you don’t get all your money back and it’s now worth less than when you paid.
i mean i understand it both ways. i just think and hope it doesnt change in the future. it could potentially be a slippery slope
It’s a step in the wrong direction for sure. Next one is adding 1% interest, then 2% then 20% and so on. We get there and we are in serious trouble.
based as usual
That is me
Instead of giving feedback to designers to bake better game scalability designs in games.
pay for another game for 2 AND a game for 3-4 that says that it could be played at 2.
This is the consumer’s fault. The publisher is there to make money.
Coming up soon, from the same people that brought you Name of game Duel!
Name of game Solo! 😂
/facepalm
$$$
Timestamps without game names indicate mediocre comments. It means someone wants you to watch an uninteresting video.
Now that adds to make it a spicier take!
As a viewer, I get pissed when its just numbers with no description! I tend to move on from the video.
Gamefound introducing Stretch Pay really solidified to me that they don't care about us consumers. For all their "we are going to fix crowdfunding" vibe at the start, that all went down fast in my opinion with things like just copying Kickstarter with "funded in X" systems instead of innovating the space
i hope things continue to get more user friendly
Best dman advice in stretch pay!!!! Don’t buy it bc it’s just stretch pay
:)
