Epic! I remember seeing a UA-cam video of him performing this song on his TV show. It doesn't seem to be up now. Somebody PLEASE upload his performance of Flip, Flop, & Fly from 1969 on "This Is Tom Jones." It was so great... He was such a tease with the audience. Dynamic performer at every age... and he keeps getting better and better! Tom, you can jump my way any day!

This video copy isn't quite as sharp as the earlier upload, but you can clearly see how playful and entertaining Tom is, and the audio is fine. So I'm really delighted and spreading the word about the upload so others can enjoy it. Whoever hasn't seen it, definitely go and look it up (or if you remember it and want to view it again). Just search for Tom Jones Flip, Flop, & Fly 1969, and it should pop up. It will have you grinning for sure. Tom Jones was really a guy who had so many women he didn't know which way to jump... Jump... JUMP! His voice is still fantastic for 82, and he's as charming as ever and still adored by women (and I'm one of 'em, lol!).

This is BETTER than the original version which, for this type of music from that era, just doesn't tend to happen. The performance from Sir Tom is immaculate in every way - tone, feel, phrasing - and the orchestra is better than the original too. The energy from Sir Tom builds and so does the arrangement and performance from the orchestra. The synergy between Tom and the orchestra is amazing. This really is how it should be done. Absolutely fabulous. Jools, you really know how to bring out the best in those who perform with your orchestra and here you provide the perfect support for Mr Jones while allowing him enough space to really perform (and boy can he do that). This is my favourite performance of this tune; it just doesn't get any better.
This sounds like it was written by ChatGPI. First off, the original is by Big Joe Turner [not the Blues Bros]. Second, the best version is by The Downchild Blues Band....not even close. Personally, I am a huge Tom Jones fan....this version is okay. I wish he would have channelled his early self and swung it....but still pretty good 'tho!
