    While Harley debated on whether or not they wanted to make the Bronx, Indian made it, called it the FTR, and they offer it in 5 or 6 different trim and equipment levels. Harley needs to pull off a miracle to get in on that action at this point.

    Your attacks on owners hurts my soul. Your criticism of the company are spot on. From killing buell to ending the vrod to killing the bronx, Harley seems determined to continue thumbing its nose at younger consumers. • @davidbrayshaw3529
      @davidbrayshaw3529 Місяць тому +1

      Everyone is fair game when it comes to their choice of motorcycles. You get used to it. What you never get used to is corporate incompetency of the highest order. Young customers
      and more importantly new customers are the way to build any brand. You can't sell someone your second whatever it is until you sell them their first one. Harley just doesn't get it.
      Meanwhile, an ocean and a half away, there's a crusty old Indian biker (yes, he rides!) fronting a little outfit called Royal Enfield that out sells Harley Davidson at 8:1.
      And he sells them to new riders and young riders. I'm betting that he also sells 8X in parts, as well.
      Low life high school dropout dead head drug dealers know that you've got to make the first sale to a customer. You've got to get them hooked on your "stuff". Royal Enfield get this. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki get this. Not the senior executives at Harley Davidson, though. They're too busy getting high on their own supply.

      The owners are partly to blame. They produce the bikes people buy. So far people don’t buy Harleys that aren’t the traditional cruisers. At the end of the day money talks. Something like the Bronx would be relatively expensive to produce and not sell for as much as some big bagger.

    I’m a brand new rider. I chose the Nightster S as my first bike. It’s been great after 500 miles. I liked the tech the Nightster Special offered over its competitors. While the Rebel 1100 was a contender I just couldn’t get over how ugly the bike looks overall. You criticize the left side of the Nightster, but, to me, the Rebel is all “left side.” The Nightster was the best balance of classic styling and modern tech to attract me to the brand. Now, had I waited a month I probably would have considered the new Indian Scout lineup. However, I don’t like forward controls as my short little legs do not find that riding style comfortable. To each their own, but it is clear that HD hurt you at some point Yammie. It’s ok to cry brother. Doesn’t make you any less of a man.

    The smart move for HD would be to offer something with the proportions of a FXDX or FXR with a higher ride height and inverted front forks, and use a tuned up revo max motor then sell that under the Bronx name. They can make an up market version of the se Bronx by throwing on an FXRP style fairing and bags, an ST badge and and people while buy it as a mini Harley sport tourer. 10 year old FXDXs are selling for insane prices, Dyna T-sports especially. A modern T-sport would sell like hot cakes, but a HD branded sport naked wouldn't compete against the literal dozens of other competitors. Plus, reworking the existing Sportster frame could keep costs down.

    • @slonlo364

    • @CheckOutIntlo_HNL
      @CheckOutIntlo_HNL Місяць тому +1

      @@slonlo364 I’d agree with you 3 or 4 years ago, but HD discontinued the Dyna in 2018, then turned around and made a Dyna-like bike out of the softail and sold it as a street bob, then again as the low rider (both previous Dyna models) and they’ve been selling those models left and right. And the softail frame is meant to be a low slung lazy cruiser, imagine taking the Sportster S chassis and massaging it into a modern Dyna? The Buell super cruiser is basically a modern FXR and there’s a ton of buzz surrounding that, I’m willing to bet HD sees all what’s happening and is working to make their own version. Younger HD buyers want club style HDs that handle in corners, but are forced to buy a softail if they can afford one or a 15 year old Dyna if they can’t, but Dyna prices are through the roof. Imagine a modern option with modern amenities at a decent price? That’s the niche that the Bronx could fill.

    I’m glad it’s not been made to be honest. I’ve rode nothing but Harley’s (mostly older shovelheads) for a decade from 18 to 28 years old. Then I didn’t ride at all for about 6 years. This winter I started shopping for a bike again. I knew I wanted something pretty capable and sporty. Like 100hp+ and a more aggressive riding position than a sportster. Had the Bronx been available, that is without a doubt what I would’ve bought.
    Instead, I got to spend six months really doing research, looking at soooo many different models and categories of motorcycles. It opened me up to a whole new world of riding (and this channel!) to explore and enjoy. I pretty quickly got an idea of what was going to best suit my wants and needs. My shortlist is gonna be pretty obvious for someone that would’ve bought the Bronx. Only three bikes made the shortlist and they were a Triumph street triple, the Yamaha XSR900, and the Ducati Monster. I kinda knew I wanted more than two cylinders as well, and so with that, I popped on over to the local Yamaha dealer and picked up their last ‘23 XSR900!!
    So thank you HD for not making the Bronx and allowing me to purchase one of the better, more exciting, and great value bikes out there right now. A bike that @yammienoob himself compared favorably to an MV Agusta! And MAN do I love to hear that CP3 triple sing now! 😁😁

      Harleys have lots of torque. My old fatboy had around 90 ft lbs. At normal people speeds on normal roads, they can hang with middleweights. It was fun to blast on straight roads. Take it to the twisties and after 2 corners you'll never see that rider again. I traded my fatboy for a trident 660 with half the torque and about the same hp. The Bronx was one of the motorcycles I was actually excited for. Because in theory, it would’ve been so light in terms of maintenance. Hydraulic lifters and a belt drive. That the 975 would’ve put out power proportional to the 1250. It would’ve sat somewhere around 80 to 90 hp 50 or 60 pounds of torque 550 pound bike which would’ve been a great bike for me.
    Of course, it likely would’ve carried the Harley Davidson price premium, which I would’ve went looking for one a year or two after it actually dropped, but still it was on my radar 0:47

    One thing that I haven't seen anyone talk about when talking about Harley Davidson is the dealership experience. I have a Nightster Special, and I really love it. It's fun, it's fast, and allows me to ride "sporty" even with my bad back. I liked your video! I like all of your videos, fwiw lol. With that disclaimer to the side, the reason I was convinced to even LOOK at Harley Davidson was because of the dealership experience. I walked into three other motorcycle dealerships in my area that sold a variety of bikes and no one took me seriously. No one let me test ride a bike. (I had been riding for 3 years). And I showed SPECIFIC interest in certain bikes. I walked into HD with my brother in law who was buying a bike and saw the way HD treated him and I was impressed. They let me test ride 3 different bikes, and I didn't like any of them. I explained my reasons. A few weeks go by and I personally get called to say "we have this new bike, I think it matches your criteria"...I ended up signing the papers as soon as I was done test riding it. Ever since then, I have been treated like family whenever I walk into that dealership. And any other HD dealerships too. It may be an HD cultural thing but there's a reason it has a fan base.
    IF HD were to come out with the Bronx, whichever younger rider would come in and buy one would end up an HD fan for life, because of its ability to build comradery with its buyers.

    Harley's attempt to become a luxury brand reminds me of a clothing company I used to work at called Ruehl no.925. It was Abercrombie's attempt to move upscale and generate higher margins on its products. Turns out, you can't slap the luxury label on something and expect consumers to blindly follow along, and the brand folded after a few years. Harley had fostered a blue collar appeal for decades, and I don't see them successfully upscaling into the luxury segment anytime soon.

I truly believe that Harley Davidson is a great motorcycle for people who really don’t ride motorcycles the way that motorcycles would be intended to ride? It seems as if you use them on a regular basis or use them aggressively they either wear out prematurely or just break. While I am in favor of advancement and improvement, I feel like HD dropped the ball by killing the air-cooled Evo engine by doing so too quickly and, among other things, phoning in the design for the Sportster S. I mean really, it looks like a Fat Bob and an FXDR had an incest baby. As for the Evo engine, I think they should have kept it around as a lower-cost backup or beginner option for younger riders.

    The profit numbers don’t tell the whole story. Some of that profit is through inflation. Harley Davidson, like other manufacturers of other items had purchased, and had contracts, at the pre-inflation cost/rates. Then turned and sold the items they built at the inflated rate.which shows an accurate accounting of the profits. So the profits are due to inflation not because of good business.

      @@NBSV1True but the same can be said for any premium manufacturer such as Ducati and BMW.
      BMW has cruisers priced higher than a Sportster S and has less features and performance. But no one calls out BMW for it.
      Also in the US Harley is the top selling motorcycle manufacturer.
      So Yammie Noob is right that Harley doesn’t really have to change. When they do release something different like the Vrod, Sportster S, FXDR, Pan-Am and such. People complain and just buy the bikes with the more traditional styling.
      The Sportster S outclasses most cruisers in its same category and your response is they should make it better.
      The current lineup has more variety than they ever had. They have the high reving, sportier bikes packed with tech and Harley’s latest. They have bikes with more traditional engines and styling, they have bikes in the middle, they have electric motorcycles.
      And like the Vrod and such people say they don’t like it and then Harley discontinues the line. Everyone suddenly thought it was a great bike.
      It’s why many call the Sportster S the Vrod 2.0
      It’ll likely get discontinued and then UA-camrs will claim they’ve always liked it.
