Great lesson on pentatonics! I've seen a lot of different ways to move this scale around the neck but your example is one of the easiest and quickest to learn. I also really liked your lick examples, very cool and easy to move and change up. Your playing is great and the your tone on that guitar is killer. I'm going to check out some of your other vids and your jam tracks.

I know this lesson is quite old. But it's Killer. I totally clicked with your way of teaching this. Even the tip about the lower string popping out during bends was great. Your way of teaching is Fantastic.
Earned a follow for sure. I would certainly pay for lessons from you.

Hi and thanks for watching our lessons. Jeffrey Paul Ross is fine - he moved a bit further away so he is not available to teach as much as he was in the past. But he is still playing and gigging regularly and making all kinds of great music. Hope to see him soon - he is a really good guy and great player - take care and keep on rocking! -David T, NLG

Minor amusing tidbit on your bending technique: Steve Vai advocates the same "pivoting" approach :). On a totally unrelated note, what neck pickup do you use on that Charvel, and is it split on this vid? Sounds _killer_.

Really good content, I'm at that stage where I'm trying to understand what I'm playing, I can string bend do pentatonic scales, and I've started to move about the fretboard etc.. your vids are helping me to churn out licks. I'd be interested if you could send me info on any paid courses you have online cheers.

if you use these scales to solo, what are the chords played under it? I've used these scales to make some little solo ideas, but I've no idea what the chords are

Timothy Conti Thank you!!! Yes this helps me! Like a 12 bar blues in A? I've never learned theory, or learned tabs well ( I play just from what I pick up by ear or what I see other folks do). Thanks again...

  • @foxhound5702

Hey John really good lesson again dude god damn i love your lick lessons. I've practiced fairly hard and can comfortably play in multiple keys now. Am, Dm and Em are favourites of mine. I'm getting to the stage now where I can kinda just go along with a jam track and just play what i "feel" although yes i still have this issue of getting myself stuck in the same area of the fretboard repeating the same licks over and over but im slowly building my scale vocabulary to be able to create new bits and pieces... I can't imagine how many countless hours some of these guys like Hendrix and SRV must have spent just practicing this...
