Kenny I bought Reaper because of you! You are the best. One of (if not the top) most talented Reaper teachers/musicians and one of the best UA-camrs period!!! Very smart and always worth watching!
Kenny! My man! I've been diving deep into midi in the last few months. Sometimes I felt like I was taking steps backwards instead of forwards. Your recent tutorials have proven my theory correct. I was going about things all wrong. Simply leveling out notes, losing the dynamic / human feel. Dude... you're a life saver. This is a game changer!
God dammit, I edit velocities every day for production music and was sure I was an expert on this. Then Kenny shows me three things that blow my mind. Kenny, I sincerely hope that Cockos has shown their appreciation for you. You're all but in technicality "The Manual" for REAPER.
I use that midi trick still all the time you showed us where you make the grid Quarter notes to make 4 hi hat Quarter notes, then turn grid into 8th notes - select all hi hat notes - shrink to 8th notes - then copy over 1 note and you can turn the velocity of every 2nd note down. I love this trick for drum editing for metal. It is great. I have the grid set to hotkeys on the number buttons then the numpad i set to be able to move midi notes around that are selected by holding Shift. I learned how to do it with triplets now too shifting the grid sizes. I think maybe you showed us that too, i forget, thanks for all your lessons!
Excellent tut. I saw the default was linear for selected velocities and thought "they need a math function in order to make it proportional" and lo and behold you demonstrate exactly that! Superb function, superb tutorial. Bookmarked and subscribed.
Oh man! This is great. I used to screw around with the velocity of almost each note. 🤡 This is so much better. There is so much in Reaper that I haven’t explored. Thank you so much, as always!
Kenny, once again, Thanks! And once again i know whiy this is the only youtube channel with the bell on in my account. The difference is the hours you spend, you know because you do, and that is clearly when i see your videos!
The possibiliy to multiply / divide the velocity is a powerfuk feature of Reaper's midi editor ! It makes so easy to compress / expand midi notes velocity !
Hey Kenny, was just wondering if you've done any videos about creating this kind of drum beat? Also what drums are they? Sounds Ace! Thanks so much for all your help man👍 I'd be lost without your videos 🙏✨..
For some reason when the filter only works on the snares for me. when I try for the kick for example, when I click the "set filter from selection" It automatically sets event type to "all events" even if I manually change it back to "Note". Except for the snares it works regularly somehow.
Another great video, Thanks Kenny! just one question on the "velocity handles", I can show and hide the handles on the notes, but for some reason I cannot see the handles on the lower section (velocity lane), is there another setting I'm missing to show the handles just on the Velocity lane?
Kind friend from the Americas, I have an electric drum set. How can I do so that every time I play the bass drum, whether it's very soft or very strong, the midi velocitys is always the same? (I mean, like in a trigger module), thanks!

Wowww. Just Wow 😯
Excellent Kenny. This is going to make editing my drum parts much easier. Again I can’t wait for part 2!
Thank you Kenny !

Very helpful - thank you!
to select a part easily, click the right mouse button on the desired note.
Thanks!

Kenny!! This is great! How can we control pitch and maybe make some ratchets.
Nice
Sounds good! Kenny, pls, make a video about Solo Defeat. I'm complicated in this issue. Everybody: Hit like, if you want video!

I prefer to set the velocity on the way in, so it doesn't go above or below a threshold.
So it clips?
@@REAPERMania the opposite it's to too high, it's not too low. Just equalising the volume of each drum.
When I die, I will go to Reaper Heaven, where I will be met by Kenny. Hopefully, he lets me in.

hey, Kenny! which samples/plugin are used for these drums? i like em
Sounds like Steven Slate Drums 5.5
Yea - I'd like to know what drum plugin he used.
Great stuff Kenny. Nice to hear a jazz tune. One question is that Justin playing the midi note to the drum track?
What midi note?
@@REAPERMania The midi drum track Did Justin play the notes to the midi track?
Бездонная штукенция
I wish I knew this workflow when I was doing a lot of sample replaced drums!
