I visited for my first time ever a few days ago! Ride of Steel is super underrated and one of my all time favourite coasters, Tantrum was pretty great as well, and Predator was also awesome but the transitions from Titan Track to Regular Track was so weird but cool 😂
Along with the Ride of Steel Plaza improvements, I’m also thinking Ride of Steel is next to get refurbishments by getting a second train and repainting the track fully red.
Hey I just went to Darien lake today I’m a HUGE fan of your videos. I’ve been watching you since WNY Coasters 2020! Something that Darien Lake is in desperate need of is an indoor air condition show. I have 2 ideas in mind both great , which one do you think is more likely / better ? A: a 3D super hero themed show similar to the Disney 3D shows like it’s tough to be a bug or Mickeys Philharmagic but obviously less themed and DC hero’s. This would be located near steel city gifts in that open lot. B: An Audio Animatronic show that is where the old grizzly rapids used to be , by the exit from the viper and the back of Roudys Ridge. it would be similar to the Disney Country Bears or Chucky Cheese and have a handful of singing critters . I feel like either show would be cheaper and more beneficial than a new roller coaster . I saw today that family’s were disappointed because the only things the could ride where either flat rides or Motocoaster therefore that’s why I feel like a new show would be the perfect piece in the puzzle!
Thanks for the your support! I find that families could definitely use more attention in the park. B probably is the better fit, but I think A is where the industry is trending. I do really like your unique ideas though!
So, since its the end of the season, i will tell you what their cooking. 1st, i am not affiliated with Six Flags/Cedar Fair/FUN or have any insider knowledge, despite being a former ride op in the park. 2nd, i got this info from a friend of the maitness crew who works at the park. Ride of Steel: If you rode ROS this year, you are the lucky. 2025, RIDE OF STEEL WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON! The ride is indeed next in line for Refurbishing, and it will be major refurbishing. 1st, its getting the predator treatment, new track to replace the old one, new paint and new trains. However, i did some research, and Intermin DOES NOT SELL That model train anymore, and it is confirmed we are getting a second train. So, my theory is the ride's controls are getting ripped out and fully replaced to use the new Intermin trains with the Over the Shoulder lap bars, being more comfortable, hopefully modern indicators so the ride crew can easily see who is not secured, and should prevent tragedies like the one on July 8th, 2011. (Coaster college did a video on the incident that i remembered here: ua-cam.com/video/7Vx4pIK0F9Y/v-deo.htmlsi=HqiCLzkTbBCCY9KB ) Predator: Will Close in 2026 for a refurbishment. mainly structural work, full wooden rertracking or full hybridization or a mix of the 2. a 2nd train is confirmed and i saw physical evidence of this last year. I hope it will also fix any ride programing bugs causing it to be a maintenance nuance (just a computer error thinking a block was occupied when it wasn't. Riders were safely held in the brakes before the station. the computer did work as intended even with the glitch) due to how expensive it was to titan track, i dont think RMC is in the picture, but we'll see 2027. (its actually my favorite all time coaster as of now) Motor coaster: I don't remember the year, but it should also be line for refurbishment. Probably be converted to use Linear Induction Motors for the launch system, or keep its flywheel launch, but i bet the former. 2nd train confirmed as well. However, knowing Cedar Fair, i bet my $1 that viper will return to 3 train operation. Mind Eraser: OPENING 2025. It will be interesting to ride, and i am making plans to visit. *Remainder is speciation* Operations: Since Cedar Fair will be "Taking over" ad the end of the year, i suspect we will see an emphasis on fast operations at darien lake in the future. I will compare the timings next years Food: Cedar Fair is also know for better food. The pizza was good, and i cant wait to see if it better next year (side note, also the frozen custards, because Darien Lake, Key Bank Center and Anderson are in a 3 way tie for my favorite ice-cream place) Boomerang: I wasn't told if they had plans for Boomerang, but i hope they also give it the love and cares it deserves as i actually got a concussion riding it this year, and is as bad as boomerang is back in 2023. SIDE NOTE: I remember Big Kahuna being closed ever time i visited since 2014. I was 100% shocked to see it opened. i though it was on the chopping block to the scrap yard!
Is there any source/proof that the titan track has caused problems for the trains? I also do not see any trims that have been put in place so maybe you just caught it on a cold day
I don’t have a direct source, but I’ve heard from those familiar with maintenance that the trains/track are the issue. It definitely was faster when I rode it more recently so I think I may have been incorrect about that
I js went yesterday and I gotta be honest I didn't realize predetor running slow, got a front row ride and it was flying over the bunny hills at the end. I never get airtime on them but I did yesterday.
I was on the predator yesterday and It got stuck and I was in the front seat and I was cooking in the sun but they said something about the chain snapped
It's a lot of fun! I have a six flags pass and has got its charm. however a lot of the rides make it worth it. Especially the water park but be warned the water park is separate now. I definitely recommend checking out the laser light show as well! Truly unique to Darien Lake from the other 6F parks! It's a night show so once the park closes for the night everyone heads over to the campground and watch the show!

Just went to Hershey Park and rode wildcats revenge. If Six Flags could do the same thing with predator that'd be freaking amazing!

Totally agree a show would be cool. B sounds more family friendly. A sounds like it’s for older kids .

Rode Predator in a middle seat of the train, which used to be a super rough spot to sit.. much better now with the track upgrades!

It's a lot of fun! I have a six flags pass and has got its charm. however a lot of the rides make it worth it. Especially the water park but be warned the water park is separate now. I definitely recommend checking out the laser light show as well! Truly unique to Darien Lake from the other 6F parks! It's a night show so once the park closes for the night everyone heads over to the campground and watch the show!
Wish the owner would sell it to six flags so we could get more rides
