It’s like a Shinto shrine that serves coffee as part of a ritual offering to others. In his face I saw no regrets and complete satisfaction during his reflection. Quite the man and shop you found.
Bro bro bro, idk why yt never recommended me to you, but now as I got to your channel today, I am loving every video, can't wait to see what comes next
@@thebuccilistoh thank you for answering! Btw, I applied for the editor role you‘re looking for. Is this still available? I‘d be very interested to discuss concepts with you :D
Thanks for doing these videos. There's a lot of big stuff out there, but I love these kinds of sincere takes on neighborhoods where the feel is more homely and endearing :)
Just came from your Reddit post mate, wanted to comment on your excellent film making. You hosted this entire video very well. I too have encountered amazing stories across my travels, especially Japan. I toured all of Kyushu last year, and came across truly beautiful stories and sites.
Thank you so much for these really kind words, it really means a lot. Isn’t Kyushu a wonderful place? Where did you go? I’m glad you had a great trip there.
@@thebuccilist second time in Japan. Went to all the main tourist sites back in 2020. But this time, in 2023 I went all around Kyushu, Kumamoto, Kagoshima , Aria city, Miyazaki, Fukoaka, Nagazaki, Saga. Everywhere. I make videos too. So I know the long slog of editing 😭
wow seems like a great experience! thanks for putting this video together. I hope to there in the near future. Can you please consider uploading the full footage of him brewing the coffee without any edits or music I would love to see that.
Absolutely, I’ll take a look at what I have and see what can be done. I did ask him to brew a cup start to finish and explain what was happening. Thanks so much for watching btw!
It’s pretty wild and scary to watch a man in his 80’s reflect back on life..wondering if he did it well. It makes you pause (at a much younger age) and reevaluate things.
What a beautiful story. It’s certainly more than coffee that he’s serving. He seems to know how to live. I’m curious to know about his family and community. Who are the people in his life?
That’s such a great way of looking at it. And I totally agree. I’m not sure about his partner situation, but I know he was two grown children. One is a doctor, and I can’t remember what the other does. His energy and fulfillment leads me to believe he probably has a nice social community. He seems happy.

@@thebuccilist congrats on the video, it was amazing! and thank you, i've been trying to find a sugar that looks like that but no luck, i also imagine his blend is top secret haha
Great video 🫶 For everyone wondering, look up V60, that's the kind of brewer used here, costs around 10 bucks give or take. It takes a bit of practice, but you can achieve a great cup of coffee at home too. Wabi-sabi :)

That’s such a great way to put it! And I totally agree. Was very lucky to find it.
If you ever go back with him you should ask him the most valuable lessons about the samurai´s, it looks like he knows a lot about japanese traditions

Great video. The importance of rituals of health along with faith and pride in his work will stay with me. How did you find this master?
Absolutely! I honestly stumbled across it walking last summer, with a little help from Google maps.
What is his coffee blend? And would Sensei like to try my blend from Indonesia?
@@octaviustjiantoro554 I’ll have to look through my notes for the blend. Will round back. And haha I’m not sure. If you visit, you could ask!
These japanese stories of an old man really sound like pulled out from an anime lol. Maybe its a thing in their country to be a master in a craft.
