Reminds me of a friendship. He had problems so did she. They felt they needed each other, but it was unhealthy. He was toxic to her. He did nothing but bring her down, underestimate her intelligence. He would make excuses for his actions, his lies. “Oh it’s just a little white lie,” it’s best for both of us. She believed his lies, knowing what they were just to keep the relationship. She was tired of fighting, tired of it being “her fault” so she went along with it one more year. Every time i hear it i get a sense of him saying he's lied to survive like you have too. Then he says that its just another lie and asks if you would still believe him. It begs the question- does lying everyday truly help you? Would you believe a lyer trying to survive?
This is the one of the most moving songs of heard in my 60 years of life.. props to the younger generation for being brilliant....
