- Just getting started in West Coast Swing? We're back with a west coast swing dance lesson! Learn to dance these fun west coast swing beginner patterns. In this week's west coast swing dance lesson WCS Online brings you all he beginner wcs patterns you need to get started in west coast swing.
In this wcs video we will teach you a sugar push, right and left side pass, sugar tuck, inside turn, and a whip. After learning these patterns, you will be well on your way to becoming a west coast swing dancer!

Great videos. On the Whip on 1/2 you did back together then back and crossover. I got confused there as a beginner.
There are different styles you can do. Easiest is back together.

Please do some silent videos with the names of the moves on the screen. I am teaching without focusing on too many details, letting peoples' bodies move 'intuitively" and encouraging more freedom of styling.

Don't call a video "beginner" when you don't show the actual steps!! Patterns come later folks, WHAT are the basic STEPS??

lol, as someone who has never done this before and this being the first video I chose; I thought it was pretty clear the basic steps were six counts starting with the left going back. A lot of music is 8 beats but it doesn’t matter because mathematically 4 counts of 6 beats will equal 3 counts of 8 beats. So you just repeat the pattern backwards and forwards while staying on the tracks he talks about.
Why doesn't ANYONE on You Tube show the ACTUAL FOOT STEPS for beginners? I'm not interested in watching you swivel your hips and do fancy turns! I need the BASICS!!!
I am not sure what you mean, we do go through the footwork for both the leader and follower and then we go through how to lead and follow the move. I am sorry if this video did not give you the help you needed.😔

I'm sorry you're struggling. West Coast Swing is one of the hardest dances for beginners for sure! As we explained in the video, we were gonna show the 3 basic patterns (but show all of the rest of the 'beginner' patterns.
