Thank you so much for this !! I really needed to hear it. I’ve been in homeschool for a year because I had to leave school and looking at universities is even more daunting when you’re not in the system. Sussex is at the top of my list and I’m looking to do English so it’s incredibly lovely to hear that it’s so welcoming ❤️
Just finished my first year at Sussex and agree completely with everything you have said! I am in love with the Uni and I can't imagine studying anywhere else!
I want to study at Sussex and this really helped me feel better about wanting to go there. All my friends aim for Russel groups / oxbridge and I worry I’ll look bad in comparison. But the course I want to do is so good at Sussex, and they just gave me an offer. Super excited now, thank you!
I'm so glad that I found this!!! I found you from Alice's channel and I've really wanted to go to Sussex Uni for a while but I haven't found any people who have videos about it. It's nice to hear someone's opinion who has gone :)
I am planning to come to Sussex in Sept 19 for Msc Engineering Business Management program . Hope that’s good too and will enjoy my time there like you did .
Hi. I want to do my year abroad at Sussex uni, but what really makes me hold it back is the fact that the student accommodations I've seen are tooo expensive. Can you please tell where you stayed or let me know economic places, halls( I don't mind) that are decent and cheap alike. T. I. A
I went to Sussex, and then to Brighton Uni. Sussex looks pretty, has nice facilities but from my experience is a naval gazing institution. It trades on its name and is essentially an academic institution (although there is nothing wrong with that, in itself). Don't expect it to be focused on training you for anything outside of education. Conversely, Brighton is less pretty but will provide useful training that you can take to the workplace. I now make 80k a year (not bragging, just pointing it out), and I use the skills gained at Brighton Uni EVERY day. I don't remember anything from Sussex. So, if you're looking for a nice place to study, Sussex is great, but if you're looking for training leading to the workplace, Brighton Uni is unquestionably better.
I’m the frantic year 13 trying to figure out my life. I’m looking for a university in/near a city, so is it convenient to get into Brighton/London from the university? I love the idea of a vibrant social life but I’m worried Sussex is TOO campus-y
Oh it's super super easy! 9 minutes on the train or like 15/20 minutes on the bus. In 2nd and 3rd year most people live in town and alllll the social life is in the city. It's a great mix of campus and city and the social life is super vibrant!!
How is diversity at Sussex? I want to study Neuroscience at Sussex for Sept 2021. However one of my parents’ main worry is the fact that I’m Muslim and female. Also does Sussex provide female only/ non alcoholic accommodations. I have a friend who’s going to go to Brighton and Sussex medical school, do you think there’s a possibility of her being given a Sussex accommodation rather than Brighton?
Am a little scared because I want to go there but am from America I want to be an historian on English/French history and I feel like I should live in the uk for awhile so I can learn more about the history... what should I do?
A take-away paper is a 48 hour exam that normally consists of a couple of essay questions! So you have 48 hours to complete it and hand it back in. An essay you have several weeks (depending when the titles/topic gets announced or when you start it!)
Thanks for making this, it's got me so excited to start! I just found out I got into sussex after retaking my A levels :) Do you remember what the park houses accommodation was like at all? Was it sociable? Thanks!
Ahh congrats!! So excited for you! I never really visited them tbh with you! But accommodation is what you make it - so just chat to everyone in your house, and your neighbouring houses and you'll make it super sociable and fun :) Have an ace time!! xx
What accommodation did you stay in? I have applied to Sussex and when i looked round Northfields was the one that suited me best, however I’ve heard that it is a far walk from the central campus and is very quiet and unsociable? Is this true, or just a myth? :)

What's the difference between these assessment modes: take away papers vs essays?
