I first heard it in Hebrew School which I left in '66 so it was before that. From My Son the Folk Singer. I still have the album but haven't had a record player in over 30 years!!!LOL
When I was in the dating pool I would always start a message on a dating app with "how's by you?", knowing eventually I'd find the person who knew what that meant. I did, and we've been together 7 years. 😊
I didn't even hear about this song until long after I'd heard its parody (yes, a parody of a parody) "Harry's Jockstrap". It's pale blue, it's pale blue.
This isa bit older than Kennedy's assassination. My Son the Folk Singer was the fastest selling record album of all time, until the JFK Memorial Album.
A promotional 45 EP (WB PRO 145) with this title was issued at about the same time as the LP, but it was only sent to radio stations and was not available to the general public. However, it's not hard to find on eBay. WB 7112 is a "Back to Back Hits" release, but you're probably correct that it was the first time for this on a commercially released 45.
In Allan Sherman's Bio, he stated that he knew he was famous when he heard that John Kennedy was heard singing Sarah Jackman. How cool is that!?!

Born many years after this but I have always loved it! A great slice of a time in history
This was much earlier like late 1962. It preceded "Hello Muddah" which was a huge hit in 1963.
Hilarious! I love this tune!
Listening in 2018.
Genius!
brilliant
Good song I like it
Love it!!
I remember being about age 3 listening to this not knowing what too-da-loo meant or what was a Lolita.

MJ....Yes...It was recorded in 1963 but was not released until 1968. Warner Brothers single # 7112. Thanks
The album was actually recorded summer 1962, and released Nov that year. As for the release of the single, I will defer.
THIS SONG SARAH JACKMAN IS FROM THE ALLAN SHERMAN RECORD ALBUM MY SON THE FOLK SINGER FROM 1962 NOT 1968
How;s your brother Bentley? Feeling better, mentally.

It's so sad that JFK's assassination ended Allan Sherman's career. People stopped buying comedy albums.
@@MrTrashcan1you should've told Bob Newhart, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Rodney Dangerfield and several others that nowone bought comedy albums
It was recorded in 1963 on a LP. Yes you may of heard it in 1966 but it was NOT release as a single until October 1968. Warner Brothers # 7112

This sounds so much like Frère Jacques!
Tesla Turret Of course it does. Most Allen Sherman songs are spoofs of classic songs
Tesla Turret Duh.......
Tesla Turret It's a parody of Frere Jacques.

DeutcheeEE BA ALL EN SHE MA NN ZZZ.
Wonder what's so funny that they're all laughing in the beginning? Cultural reference, or just silly on stage?
bet they did somthing silly, which we can see unfortunatly
What are these people maniacally laughing over? It’s like there are a lot of punchlines that I’m totally missing.
If you weren't at least a teenager in 62-63 , you would not get some of the lyrics.
