- Join Karolyn in today's video as she creates an interactive spinning record featuring the Turntable Die-namics.
Creating the spinning mechanism:
Die cut a 1/4” hole in the main panel of the card, where you want to position the center of the record.
Mark the centre of the pull tab wth a straight line so you can see where to position your tab and mark the 1/4” circle opening with a pencil.
Add a mark 1/4” to the left of the circle on the pull tab and 1 1/2” to the right of the circle.
Die cut a small circle from white card stock and adhere a spin and slide disc to one side with adhesive.
Position the spin and slide disc through the hole on the panel (so the spin and slide disc is facing up) and mark the centre with a pencil. Add adhesive to the disc and adhere the record on top. Once the record is adhered, the spin and slide disc will be sandwiched in the hole with the record adhered on the front side and card stock circle adhered on the back side.
Using a small punch, create holes on the pull tab markings to the left and right of the centre circle and feed nylon thread through the first hole and securely attach with adhesive.
Create a folded paper collar to hold the pull tab in place and adhere to the back of the card panel against the edge, with the pull tab fed through.
Wind the string securely around the spin and slide disc (the card stock circle adhered on top of it, will help to hold it in place since the strong will be hidden under it) and holding it tightly so it does’t unwind, feed it through the second hole and adhere to the pull tab.

Wow! WOW! WOW! I;ll have to watch this a few times before I try it, but I am so impressed!
This is SOOOO CLEVER! Love it!
Wow. Thank You!!!!! I have the MFT For the Record Die set, just hadn't gotten the chance to use it. I cannot thank you enough. My gosh, this card is amazing. Imagine a spinning basketball, and as you mentioned wheels on a bike, a car, the possibilities are endless. I also like Laura's idea of spinning eyes for Halloween - wouldn't that be fun. Love your videos and the cards you make. Much appreciated. Thanks to you my interactive die collection continues to grow. If only there was enough time.... TFS. Cannot believe it. Here we are 2 years later. I finally was able to make the record player mechanism. Wow, it was fun and is sure to be a favorite part of future cards. Thanks so much.
WOW! You are super creative, I would not have thought of that in a million years! Love your card!
Great idea... I love records that can spin and this is a clever way to do it without adding bulk to your card. Thanks for sharing. x
Such a cool mechanism! Can’t wait to try it out. Thank you for sharing ❤
Oh Karolyn, you are so clever! Thank you for sharing this with us!

Genius!! Thanks for the very clear, concise tutorial!
I created this card today - it was easy as I followed along - I thought it would be very difficult to create - NOT!!! thank you!! so - happy I had everything to follow along -I had fishing line and it worked great! Thanks for this great tutorial - this card has been on my bucket list for 2 years!~ So Happy I created one today and it worked great!!
I am having so much trouble getting it to spin? I’m using fishing wire? Do you think that’s what’s causing the problem? Wish I could see the video in slow motion.
What a clever design! Love it!! Thanks for the inspiration Karolyn!!
What an awesome card, love the that it turns, tfs
I was dying to see this video and all I can say is: You're a genius, my friend! This is absolutely amazing! I've never seen an interactive card with an element that spins 360 degrees and does it so perfectly! Hats off to you! 👏👏👏😍😍😍
Laura Dovalo thanks sweet friend! Once I figured it out in my head, it was easy!!
Fabulous! I just adore interactive cards and this one is magnificent! You make it look so easy and your instructions are so clear and concise. I can’t wait to try this! Thanks sooooo much! ❤️
So clever! But you don’t show how to attach the nylon thread to the spin n’ slide disc in order to make it rotate when you pull the tab. Is it attached on the top side or the underside? And how do you attach it so it stays? I’ve watched this over and over, and still don’t see it. I know this is an old video, but I bought this die set just so I could make this spinning record card, so could you please respond to the many who have asked and explain the string wrapping part more clearly? Thanks!
Hello, the wire is wrapped twice arround the spinning support. (4.34) I slown down the speed of video in order to get it! You have to use elastic thread (used for homemade jewerly)
Absolutely fantastic. I love this.
Such a great idea!! I can’t wait to try this one. You’re directions are always so clear and easy to follow. Thank you!!
Genius! I can't wait to try this. Thank you Karolyn!
Amazing card. I love the spinning record
One "like" is not enough! LOVE this! Thank you!
Fantastic spinner!
This is a great card! Thanks so much for sharing.
Clever! Got to try the spinning eyes.
Great tutorial. Will give this a try. Tfs
Thank you so much for sharing!
Awesome card! Just found you. Subscribed, liked & shared
Thank you, MFT, for adding the written instructions.
Really cute. Thank you.
Awesomeness!💜
Love it!
IT'S SO AWESOME!!! 💙❤️💙
love this video, got my pieces cut out, ordered my spin discs so I can proceed as soon as I get them.
Would REALLY LIKE to have the directions for the spinning mechanism in writing! I want to try making that too but the video showing it is too fast, not close up enough and mentions “a spin and slide disc”. What’s that? Where do I get it??
I found the discs at Simon Says Stamp. Now just need to get the mechanism working!
How do you keep the string from unwinding? Between the slider and the foam piece. My thread keeps unwinding.
Genius!
Great8888 idea. Love it1
You have such a young voice and mind! It can’t be 40 years sins you went to college! ☺️❤️
Maria Varga hahaha! Check out the wrinkles on my hands!! Definitely 40+ years since college! But thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome!
Okay I guess that I’m slow. I follow you up until the collar and you say that you wrap it around three times I’m assuming you wrap the 12 inch thread but I don’t know around what three times. I have watched the video over and over her and I don’t understand.
I absolutely love your card and would love to make it if I could just figure out how to do it.
How fun! What glue pen are you using?
I could not get my record to spin, please do a close up video, showing details of the spinning record, Thank you
what is a spin and slide disk and where do I get some please? Thank you.
Tried to make this but every time I tried the record would not spin.. I love interactive cards so will keep trying.. Thanks for the tutorial
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong….. thread is keep coming off the track when I pull. need help!
Mine too. I keep watching but the string keeps unwrapping.
Didn't understand shit
