Saw J Mascis and the fog in early 2000 I believe maybe 99 either way that’s the bass he was playing. Mike Watt is a real deal dude great live performance fellas ✌️
I've been an almost lifelong fan of The Minutemen since about 83. Of course everything has been said about Watt. The introduction of the organ is great. But what I don't get tin these comments is the accolades paid to the drummer. Yes, he is superb: but he is doing (pretty much) what George Hurley was doing thirty years ago. But I did enjoy this set! D. Boon RIP.
Jerry's the man but he and Watt have had their tensions over the years. It's something that seems to have had some closure now though. Watt chronicled it in his hootpage journal entries in the early 00's
And today (Dec. 22, 2020) marks the 35th anniversary of d. Boone’s death at the age of 27 in a traffic accident. The axel fell off of his van while he was resting in the back. For punk rock in Los Angeles, that is the day the music died. Mike Watt did amazing work with fIREHOSE (and other bands) after that, but it definitely broke a part of his heart forever.
At first I was like what the hell type of stuff of this guy running his guitar through. I was like cool sound definitely different then D's. I have seen Watt with the Minutemen, firehose, Banyan, and a solo gig. But never heard this done with this arrangement it's great using on the organ in there is genius on a couple levels.
@@Wynterspop NO! Unfortunately the Miinutemen lost their bassist in a crash of an Econoline Ford van. Only EdFromOhio is still alive from the Minutemen.

Watt is simply legendary, and that drummer is an absolute beast.
who is he ?
@@DerekHundik Jerry Trebotic. San Pedro's finest.
@@henryortega9653 Yeah, all Pedro dudes as seen in the documentary We Jam Econo. OGs
Well, it misses some fills before the "chorus" to equate George's version.
Imagine being in a video with Mike Watt and everyone talks about your skill. Congrats to this drummer!
exactly
Minutemen tune played on a Hammond, I LOVE IT! Excellent!!!
Sounds like Deep Purple!
Good christ that drummer is just otherworldly!!
dmorin74 I guess you’d have to be to play with Watt huh. He looks possessed
He's easily the closest I've heard to George Hurley. The crazy part about George, though? He would look RELAXED playing the exact same thing!
@@jaygilbert4546 hahahhaha good!
All of his drummers are gods. I guess when you're Mike Watt, you get the pick of the litter.
Check out Nick Aguilar, one of his current sidemen. That kid is next level.
The best thing g on the Internet
Never ever thought someone could pull this song off on the drums. I was wrong This drummer is amazing!
Jack Bruce and Mike Watt are 2 major reasons why I love the EB-3.

nothing wrong with appreciating the guys talent, whats the issue?
Rocket science?

George did it 30 years ago, but nowadays you don't see this much soul. This is why we appreciate it a lot.
Wow what a blast from the past! Excellent!!!!!!
Dayum, that drummer is hella good!!!
Wow. This is awesome.
Great organ donation!
Saw them in Petaluma CA at McNeer's Mystic Theater with X on 8/29/16! Amazing show, and thanks for all the great music, Mike!
Cool. I saw Watt/fIREHOSE with X in 1987 at the Universal Ampitheater in Hollywood.

I thought his girlfriend was driving and she fell asleep at the wheel. That’s what I’d heard

The drummer obviously has issues, looks like a typical genius.

This is not possible. Mike Watt is always in tune. That is the way.
If it goes out of tune it's only because Watt broke said out of tune string
