I vaguely remember from some 50 years ago that that station’s complement included a Haflinger mini fire engine as there were (are?) some very narrow alleys in Soho.
I'd rather be back fighting for my life in Iraq war or Afghanistan war Kosovo war or any of the wars I've fought in than run into a building on fire these guys and girls are the true meaning of heroes very brave men and woman and so grateful in the UK to have the best trained firefighters in Europe. I think it’s activated manually because the bay doors are also opened for other reasons, so you wouldn’t want passers by waiting for the machine to leave when instead a firefighter has popped out for whatever reason. Soap drama to a minimum and no lecturing of any kind, except for fire safety etc 😂 Could even have cameos from old cast members say the actor for Colin features as an officer in the control room, still injured from his final shout. Geoff and Vernon meeting in the ship aground, George working as an instructor in the fire fighting academy gym and training grounds etc....

So the letter before the numbers in the callsign indicates the area of the city the appliance is located, we refer to that area as a ‘Command’, almost like a District in the US. ‘A’ is Northern Command, so that’s the area of Central North London. There are five commands overall. ‘E’ is South East Command, ‘F’ is Eastern Command (North East), ‘G’ is Western Command (North West) and ‘H’ is South West. London is divided into these commands for better organisation and communication essentially, since the appliances in a given command mostly only work with/encounter others from the same command. But of course trucks from different commands meet and work together at incidents. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I’m not sure about fire appliances, but I have definitely noticed quieter sirens on police cars. You can’t seem to hear them until they’re extremely close, but it varies.

Crowds of people run across the front as the vehicles are emerging. The point of this announcement is to give a pre-warning, so that people can gather and wait on either side of the station out of the way, to lessen any possibility they risk getting hurt crossing the front of the station. Since this area is extremely busy and is quite tourist-heavy, the siren activation whilst they drive out can be quite sudden given all the possible distractions. People typically wouldn’t know the moment the vehicles would drive out, so they would take the chance to cross, only to be given the bullhorn, and the opportunity to realise they almost earned themselves a trip to the hospital. I hope this helps to understand the concept a bit more. Thank you for watching

This is useless. They pull out so god damb slow anyway. Well over 30 seconds before a siren sounds. 30 seconds when someone is dying when average response time is over 7 minutes is too long. They need 10 seconds max and need to be on scene within 4 minutes.

Aerial Appliances only require two people since the deployment and operation of the ladder is the only role of the crew on that appliance. In the US, they crew more as they also specialise in rescues during fires and whatnot, they also go into the building a lot more, whereas over here they operate externally. Thanks for watching!

In my area,Herts,big stations have the 'traffic lights "to stop traffic but some idiots don't stop , I've seen a collision, when a bus didn't stop ,bus and fire truck both badly damaged, female bus driver prosecution & sacked!!😮

This is useless. They pull out so god damb slow anyway. Well over 30 seconds before a siren sounds. 30 seconds when someone is dying when average response time is over 7 minutes is too long. They need 10 seconds max and need to be on scene within 4 minutes.

As a retired firefighter, I must say the turnout times are so slow these days.

Waste of money there is an audible warning device included on each apparatus.

They need to turn up to a shout in a certain vehicle formation with the TL in the middle, or the TL first as it needs to find a suitable space to park, to then operate. Unfortunately they can’t just leave as and when they please. I understand why it might look like that though, thanks for watching!

Aerial Appliances only require two people since the deployment and operation of the ladder is the only role of the crew on that appliance. In the US, they crew more as they also specialise in rescues during fires and whatnot, they also go into the building a lot more, whereas over here they operate externally. Thanks for watching!
