Such a lousy question at 24:19, considering that he was born in the USSR and moved to the US in 1999.

I am very much distressed for the question posed by a journalist about the nationality of one of the winners of the prize.

They should let science journalist or even youtubers ask the questions instead of the general press, the questions were very bad and they were mostly interested in the drama and not the scientific discovery.

😂 Especially the one asking why it is chemistry instead of physics.

@@rae-everything @camila-kp8sf Yes youtubers like Tom Scott, Sabine Hossenfelder, Destin Sandlin (Smarter Everyday), Veritasium, Minute Physics, etc.. just to name a few. even general science and technology youtubers like Mark Robber, vsauce, adam savage, sci show etc.. would have respected the subject more and asked more valuable questions than what did you have for breakfast, when did your mom know and why a russian who is been living in the US for 25 years win the prize.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry! I would very much like to ask the young lady from the Swedish TV4 : Does she think that this man, Alexei Ekimov, is responsible or has anything to do with the war in Ukraine? Does she think that every living Russian on this planet has to be punished simply because of the current politics of the Russian Federation?

Especially in this particular case - he left Russia in 1999 even before Putin came into power

In my opinion the question on the winner's Russian nationality is utterly outrageous. Not only did Ekimov make a great contribution to world science, but he also moved from Russia to the US in 1999, whilst Putin became president only in 2000.

I think, this attitude against Russian scientists helps Putin propaganda so much. As Russian, who emigrated 5 years ago, I can say: Russia performed had 20,000 political arrests in 2022 year, following protests, and pressure against Putin's war could be much stronger, if West could be against government, and Z-Russians, but not each Russian overall.

Particle size, wavelength, color, energy... are the basics of the standard model known for long, e. g. smaller ones reflect high energy blue light like blue sky while larger ones lower energy red light like sunset. So the prize may be just for the making and precise control of their sizes, hence the related properties, i.e. the technology side instead of sci side of it.

@@keepcalm7453I'm a Chemistry undergraduate but I'm looking to merge physics and chemistry in a graduate/Ph.D. program. I love both fields and I even attend some lectures (on Quantum Mechanics, general relativity, Particle physics) from the physics department which lies next to the chemistry department. Are you aware if there are graduate programs focusing on quantum mechanics and its applications on molecules? Maybe a chemical physics program?

I am Ankesh Kumar an 15 years old high school students from India . I have been studying this quantum mechanics from from very young age . I can't say that I understood quantum mechanics. It is totally mind wrenching subject that goes beyond my logic. But I shall say you that I have huge passion for this subject. I want to be a quantum scientist and would like to work on this . Sir / Mam please provide me the platform to do so . I want to change the world . Let's not only award noble let's create noble

You can consider many physicists who are currently researching various properties of a multitude of nanocrystal species. NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) researchers Art Nozik, Matt Beard, and others are doing fascinating work on MEG (Multiple Exciton Generation). Also, Dr. Tara Dhakal at Binghamton University is brilliantly researching many facets of solar energy applications in these 2023 Noble Prize concepts (in both physics and chemistry).

Many scientists will be willing to let you help them out in lab if you send an email displaying your interest in their work and their study. Building a relationship with a professional in the field may help get you onto that stage one day🙏

The question if a Russian scientist is worth of Nobel prize and should be invited to the Nobel banquet is an absolute DISGRACE. Discrimination based on the nationality is against basic European and American principles. Ekimov has left Russia in 1999 and has worked in US ever since. He and millions of other Russians that live and work all around the globe, including the ones at the front edge of science and technology have nothing to do with the horrific war led by Putin.
