Thank you, first of all for sharing your wisdom and experience. I bought a wild blackberry pie at a church social fund raiser many years ago. When I learned the maker was 98 years old I asked if I could meet and thank her personally. We had tea together and I asked her about life back then. The second youngest of twelve siblings who all survived to adulthood, she was the last one left. I asked her about her mother and how she managed, they were not wealthy. Her mother made remedies. She was prone to earaches and infections. She remembered mullein drops in the ear and a soft compress of salt in a cotton sock her mother heated on the cook stove.and had her hold against her ear. It seemed to draw the pain and infection out. I wish I had spent more time with her, walking from candle light to the laser light that had just recently renewed her vision. She also said she had the neighbor boy pick the berries that year.
Thank you for your videos. Very helpful to me. I LOVE it when the inner witch comes out and wants to play. Hoping to make some sagebush oil from fresh sagebush. Supposed to be helpful for arthritis pain.
Ashley ,great to see you feeling much better and thank you, for taking your time to explain the infused herb oil. Would it be the same process for lavender or peppermint essential oils? And would you know of a natural remedy for joint or muscle pain? I would appreciate any information you may have.
Lucky Gracie essential oils and infused oils are two different things. Essentials oils are made by taking pounds of plant matter and squeezing out the oils in the leaves/plants via a specialized process. Infused oils is what you saw her do in this video, adding oil into the herbs and using that as a way to extract the properties of the herbs. Hope this helps.
Beware using croc pots for oil infusions! I, as many, *assumed* the temperature was low enough but luckily I checked the temp *inside* the jars only to find the lowest setting (Low) heated my herb infusion to over *180°* ❗️ 😮 WAY beyond the safe temp & thus killing the very things I wanted from the herbs. 😖 It’s like boiling your green beans til all their colors & nutrients are gone vs. steaming. Just a tip since most of us innocently trust the ‘dials’. I always shot for 90-95° for 2-3 days then cool/dark place for a week or 2. Well done video❗️
I just discovered your channel and only have seen these two videos on herbal infusing. I love all the details you share! I'm new to infusing and soap making. I wanted to ask how much of the "goodies" in infused oils do you think survive the saponification process? P.S.- I'm from Idaho too! 😃
I love your breakdown of explaining things. I just discovered you. You did bring up somethings for me to consider. Do you have a outline of how you choose which oils, alcohol and vinegars with which works best with which herbs for what uses. Like a cheat sheet. I should have thought of the cheesecloth method instead of opening lid daily. Thank you.
Hi Ashley. I love the idea of calendula and witch hazel as a toner. I don't recall you saying what the process is before using it. Do you leave it sitting for weeks or what?....Thank you, Shirley
Do you have a suggestion for beet powder extraction I did powder and nothing happen the beet powder has not incorporated into the oil I am going on 3 weeks with this oil...driving me crazy !
you are freaking awesome :) thank you so much for the time you spent on this, every human on earth needs this knowledge

Yes! For certain herbs the everclear helps pull out some of the constituents into the oil. Arnica is one I do with everclear. 😊
