One thing I rarely see people do is clarify the reason _why_ they were called The Pendulum Wars instead of “the resource wars” or “The Great War.” It may seem self-explanatory, but I was certainly stumped by it at first, so here it is: The Pendulum Wars were named so because throughout the entirety of the conflict, no one side was ever able to achieve a crushing victory over its rival, and thus the state of the war was constantly shifting as the UIR took one place, then the COG took another, and so on so forth. The war kept going, and the status quo never changed. Back and forth, back and forth, the hands of favor cradling first one nation, then the other, their fates entirely up in the air as the balance shifted… Like a Pendulum.
Could have gone better or worse. The UIR seemed a lot less coordinated/centralized at times compared to the more organized COG forces. They also may have been lacking in other areas as the COG was stated to be made up of the main imulsion powers which also had powerful economies. Meaning the UIR could have not been as well off in that regards. On the other hand their guys seemed far more ruthless and militarized as a whole Garosnia being the main one we know off. I expect they would have liberally used the hammer of dawn on the locusts once they took over too much of a city which could have made the grubs start rethinking their grand campaign
UIR mostly surrendered to the Cog. Gorasnia kept fighting. (Paduk's home nation) 6 weeks after the armistice. E-Day happened. While Karen, led the massacre on Gorasnia. Other Locust wiped out most remaining UIR forces. And the hammer strikes did the rest. Glassing most of the super continent.
or like the GOW4 Proologue, diferents stories within the Pendulum Wars from the perspective of differents Gears and UIR Troopers, imagine going from conflict to conflict, seeing and playing, the whole 79 years of war, from both sides, it would be awesome!

Absolutely insane war; stuff they’ve never even seen before, fighting them relentlessly. And then a wave of orders on top of orders, trying to defend your home planet. these dudes are among some of those who have it the worst in fiction
That’s the crazy part, they fought almost a full century of war, it finally ends and everyone thinks things can finally go back to normal only for six weeks to pass and now you’re fighting a war of survival from a enemy, who won’t show any mercy, empathy or compassion and want to exterminate you to the last man, woman and child.
I loved the UIR armor design. Seems to consist of strapped on armor pieces that allow for major protection and flexability. That a green industrial look and the helmet. Also the magnets on the back for weapon storage. It looks so practical. And let's not forget the Markza. It is not a rifle. It is a *Comrade*
You should do a video on the Pendulum Wars era Battle of Anvil Gate. Not only is it the start of Hoffman's rise through the officer ranks, but it sheds some light on the conflict in the generations before Marcus and Dom.
Y'know, I've been in love with Gears of War since GOW 2 and I've always been interested in the deeper story so this has just been pretty amazing to learn
The should make a Gears of War game that took place during the Pendulem Wars and were YOU as the player can CHOOSE your own faction to join. C.O.G or U.I.R with complete deferent campaigns, that would be epic.

Theres a lot more hints of battle from the Pendelum wars that could be in here that we get bits and pieces of. You could do a whole course of the war video on them. Or maybe a few if you really dig into them.
I know the COG has the main GEARS as heros, but I'd side with the UIR, mainly because we know of more of the COG's dirty secrets that makes the COG the overlooked villains.

It did end at gears 3, since Epic and Cliffy B ended it at 3. He said that was the true ending they were never gonna make more so they sold the rights why not make that extra money. I dont count anything after 3 as canon( not including Judgment of course). Microsoft ruined Halos story and Gears by making sequels we didnt need. They shoulda made prequels instead i would have love to seen Eday happen they had 14 years in between Eday and the first game but know they had to fuk up the story with a sequel.

It'd be cool if we got a Prequel to the Gears series that takes place during the Pendulum Wars, mixing it with a bit of MGS and Spec Ops The Line themes of Anti War and the Horrors of War and the cycle of Violence.
I'd certainly be interested in a Gears of War game or 2 set in the Pendulum Wars. One* certainly in the classic Gears of War game style. And another in the Strategy genre. I'd like to know more about the UIR and how they fought. Because the COG was based around Infantry, it be interesting if the UIR was focused around vehicles or infantry. And also what sort of vehicles both sides employed and how they used them. Not to mention aircraft as well. Not sure what sort of Strat game I'd go for though. Company of Heroes style or something else. Maybe Empire at War minus the space combat stuff of course.
The Coalition should have made prequels instead of sequels, i dont count Gears 4 and 5 as canon they ruined the story with it in my opinion just like 343 ruined halos story by making a sequel. Both games had so much lore they could have made so many prequels. Hell there is 14 years of war from Eday alone the first game takes place 14 years after Eday. I would have like to seen Eday happen in a game than the sequels we got.

Although they then backtracked from that at about Gears of War 3. More so, given the locust are clearly too culturally and technologically advance to be just a few decades old. With their own language, writing system, and organized religion.
@@KSmithwick1989 I think they do mention that a lot of the creatures we meet and fight on the Locust's payroll are native to the hollows, that gigantic cave system the rift worms made, but the locust drones themselves (the bulk of the locust army) as well as Myrrah herself are the result of genetic manipulation. I think the Kantus species specifically was native and built temples to worship the worms!!
I think the whole super soldier gone wrong thing was stupid why didn't they just let the hordes origins remain a mystery also doesn't make sense how they populated that quickly in a short amount of time and build there society that would have taken hundreds of years it was implied many times that they were here longer than humanity and there was myths and legends from over 100 years before the pendulum wars about those creatures

When you dig into the lore and learn about all the atrocities committed during the wars, you start to really understand the stranded and why they hated both sides. I still don’t know if I’d have to guts to turn my back on both governments after the grubs showed up though.
Humanity probably would have lost. Prescott basically concluded after a few months and after trying to drum up support for a major counter-offensive that everyone had given up, and that every nation were fighting by themselves and saving up their weapons of mass destruction for the end game, namely to go out in a blaze of glory. Which was what led him to do what he did.

It's not, in lore it's mentioned that socialism exists but was brushed aside in favor or ultra right wing ideologies. So essentially fascism. The UIR is the one where people call each other comrade and stuff so it's obviously meant to represent Russia or at least partly, though they use fascist imagery a lot too. Both sides were fairly similar though the COG was slightly more xenophobic and centralized from what I can gather.

both sides were heavily invested in armour and infantry but the uir was also invested into their space program and navy but mostly armor and men

When you dig into the lore and learn about all the atrocities committed during the wars, you start to really understand the stranded and why they hated both sides.

Humanity probably would have lost. Prescott basically concluded after a few months and after trying to drum up support for a major counter-offensive that everyone had given up, and that every nation were fighting by themselves and saving up their weapons of mass destruction for the end game, namely to go out in a blaze of glory. It's not, in lore it's mentioned that socialism exists but was brushed aside in favor or ultra right wing ideologies. So essentially fascism. The UIR is the one where people call each other comrade and stuff so it's obviously meant to represent Russia or at least partly, though they use fascist imagery a lot too. Both sides were fairly similar though the COG was slightly more xenophobic and centralized from what I can gather.
