      @@JoeMACofNACgood drumline drums are nothing close to "flat". Multi-tonal bass drums and tenors form entire melodies. Different timbres of the various cymbal sounds (simple crashes versus fusions and other techniques most people have no idea about.) Snares are the most well-known and in your face, and a good line will have them tuned crisply and precisely. Look up WGI or DCI drumlines and you'll see that it's anything but "flat"!

    I grew up on Blink182, they're my favorite band and have been now for a long time. I grew up a broken home, abusive father, abusive mother, in and out of foster care, in juvie etc... I guess I identified with their music and it's the first music I remember loving. Now as a nearly 40 year old dude (im 39 and how dare you!) I still love them. I put 182 in most of my gamertags etc... as a tribute to them. Something about their music just really spoke to me as a kid and I've just loved that unique style ever since.
    Edit: i realized this seemed depressing. I work in mental health now, I've done years of therapy myself and addiction counseling etc... I love my job, I love to give back and use my experience to connect with people who are struggling. Blink182 is still my favorite band.

    • @toddvandell85
      @toddvandell85 25 днів тому +1

      Even just doing this demo for the interview the stick tricks just pop up. They're embedded deeply in his DNA. I love that. As a fellow drummer who hasn't played much in a few years? I taught myself how to do your basic stick spin? Which, by itself, looks kinda cool-ish? But as soon as I sat behind my kit & tried to incorporate the spin seamlessly so it fit in? Discovered I'd taught myself to spin it in the opposite direction of where it would look cool slipping it in during the songs. Any of them. And as you can probably imagine? I've been unable to break that habit & change the direction so it would just fit in perfectly. I think it's nice when drummers have their own stage show & do flashy tricks so the audience doesn't just ignore them. Some purists seem to hate stick tricks. Their loss. In my not very humble opinion.

    I think that’s my favorite song by them. Definitely had a short Blink 182 phase about 12-13 years ago doing lots of driving and listening to their greatest hits on the drive and I played I Miss You a lot.

    This was my FAVORITE BAND when I was in High School. I was OBCESSED with their music. I had FINALLY FINALLY gotten tickets to see them in Chicago and I wrote the date on the calendar and was sooo excited. Then one Sunday morning I see an article about their show they did the night before in Chicago. I'm like wait.... I look at the tickets, I look at my calendar and I missed the show. I wrote down the wrong date. I was sooo upset and disappointed that I stopped listening. I was soooo upset.
