Hmmm what a strange, dark and mysterious man
For some strange reason...Id bet money the "like button" hates him
You beat me to it, lol. Awesome to see Mr. Ballen on blade HQ, two of my favorite things!
@@garym51124😂😂😂
St8 BALLEN
Yes, he has a personal vendetta against that button. Some friends and I took it for a "Hike" We went 12 miles into the middle of the wilderness and then left it. 😊
My man Mr ballen
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😎😎😎😎
So i wasn't tripping?
He was just on the Shawn Ryan show, pretty down to earth, seems like a good dude.
It's actually Mr b Allen. The Mr ballen thing just stuck
@@Murdoc2080 WeLl AcTUalLy….shut up nerd.
Shit that seal be ballen 😂

Seals carry whatever knives they want to.
The only answer.
As do any rational adult, really.
@@Rensune Unless dictated by state law or unit...
@@CornFedMF Nope, they carry what they want
@@CornFedMF nope they grab what they want from the armory sign for it amd away they go
Hell yeah, Mr. Ballen!!
Love that they used Mr. Ballen's pic in the thumbnail. At first i thought it was one of his vids but then saw bladehq 😂
I like that they knocked on the blade, to demonstrate how hard the steel is.
A lesser alloy would simply shatter under such abusive comditions
Just like I do when I fix something. If you don't tap it and say "that's not going anywhere" then you didn't finish the job.
And it doesn’t flex under mild to moderate finger pressure!
This is the way
😢
Apparently Mr. Ballen approved.
I wonder if he knows that?
Mr Ballen is an absolute CHAD!
That second knife reminds me of one the old Vets I knew once talked about. Their favourite weapons for black ops was a short length of tube with one end welded shut. Inside that was a heavy duty spring. A very simple catch release on the end so that to load, you slid the blade inside then used a wall to push it in till it caught on the catch and stayed locked inside.
It was simple and completely silent. Sneak up behind, point and push the release.
Good for single enemy soldiers.
But in a group you only got one shot before having to go to the trouble to reload it, but it was one less enemy you had to worry about as you waded into the enemy mob with standed knives and guns.
MR BALLEN‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
AYO WE GOT A FAN OF THE STRANGE DARK AND MYSTERIOUS TOLD IN STORY FORMAT
Mr. Ballin good choice
lmao all the comments recognizing MrBallen
He's the Goat so makes sense
One’ll be 40 bucks, one’ll be 200+
I have the SRK and it's a damn good knife. Mine came razor sharp out of box and the blade is THICC. Strong as hell too.
@@AeonsOfBlight SRK is a fantastic blade for real, I personally use my SRK-C more, since I would have my regular knife as well as a bigger knife on me, a good bigger one I would carry being the Cold Steel Magnum Tanto XII. I actually got some stitchwork done on some of my pants to extend the pockets, making a 12in inside pocket carry possible
Benchmade is mighty proud price
@@AeonsOfBlighti completely agree, it was my faithful companion during my time with the ICA.
He is a kind warrior & good humble man.
I have SRK its sick and been using it for the past 15 years. Stays super sharp, can chop wood with a log as hammer etc.
I'm going to have to check out the SRK , I've been using the gerber mark II since the early 80's in the Corps. Thank you for the tip brother 🙏
That guy looks like he’s got some stories to tell
My dad carried the older aqua lung fixed blade. He was in buds 82 and only in for a few years until later becoming a commercial under water welder for a bit. He kept 3 of those knives and I have one today that he gave me. Cool knife. Extremely sharp and I have no practical use for It besides it’s a cool memento from him.
MrBallen 🤘
Thank you for putting a circle around the knife so I could see it, as well as for knocking on the knife to show how hard and strong it is.
That Adamas is an awesome knife.
gerber strongarm, cold steel slockmaster, two of the best knives ive found at their price points
I have the Stongarm, it's good to go...
MrBallen😊 he kept me sane during COVID!
Yo, that guy looks strange, dark and mysterious... Damn, someone beat me to it already lol. Mr. Ballen!
i swear thats mr ballen
ohhhh he said it in the vid :l
MrBallen
I bought a Cold Steel Tanto for about 45$. As a hunter and a life time steel fabriactor, this is proba ly the BEST knife i have ever owned. One piece high carbon steel and keeps a killer edge for a long time. Cold Steel doesnt get nearly enough credit for their wares.
There is no regulations or standard issue when it comes to knives, grunts are even allowed to carry emerson knives and even others of knives too, some carry microtechs.
Jack Carr actually recevied a knife after his SEAL training and that was the SOG SEAL pup knife
A real man fights with a butter knife and a stale dinner roll!
Mr ballen thank you for your service
It's hard for me to see the seals issuing the SRK for underwater applications because it'll rust if you look at it wrong
SK5 is tough. Not stainless. But hey I don't know
They have either the San Mai or 3v
It's coated so it should be mostly protected and any rust on the edge will be removed when it's sharpened.
@@EverydayBladeCollector the San Mai would be better I have the 3v SRK it's a little more resistant to corrosion than sk5 but not much. It's cleans easier though
your belief is not required.
@@HerculesEinstein it's not a belief? Sk5 will rust even with the coating
Might want to mention that one of those costs 5x the price of the other.
Well thats also pretty obvious considering standard issue, and what seals might purchase themselves i dont think they would go out their way to buy even cheaper product. Also just when its benchmade knife pretty much everyone knows its going to be pricey. I personally would prefer just the srk as knife, but in that sort of "tactical" role carrying in the vest i guess its the slim profile thats more important
Can get a great Ka-Bar without the butterfly tax
@@Wheelzthtdude4twiz I hope you don't think the OG USMC from Ka-Bar is better than anything else. It breaks if you step on it. Looks cool tho....
@@lalli8152 like you knew exactly it was 5 times the price? exactly 5 not 2 or 3? internet mouth breathers man..
@@ashadowintime7305 its pretty close estimation. 270 dollar knife, and about 50 dollar one. People also can be hyperbolic obviously, but in this case its pretty accrurate
Lol, THAT'S the picture they settled on? That's allot of rubber bands on him there. 😆
Hey if it does the job 🤷🏻♂️
@@Osama-Bon-Jovi-01 welp, when you're right, you're right.
That’s how a lot of us do it. The stupid over-expensive TQ holders and other gear accessories just are too finicky and we use rubber bands because they’re easier, more reliable to deploy, and easy to find.
I’m not SOF but I am a Marine and every single SOF group I’ve trained with uses rubber bands, including our Raiders.
Edit: I get cringed out when I see LARPers wearing full kits with the most expensive gear when nobody really does that.
@@coalymoley8396 larping is.... Different. Lol, what I find funny is the guys that do airsoft in $2k-$3k pieces.
@@coalymoley8396 Seems like paracord would work better.
Just remember military buffs, if you carry those same blades, it doesn’t make you a seal
Im glad we're all on the same page
Ayo Ballen 😮💨
MrBallen, we love and respect him , he’s the only reason I’m give you a like !!!!!👍 😊
That Benchmade Adamas is, dare I say, Ballen
love me some cold steel. Been carrying one of these for 20years now. love the master hunter as well, and for kicks one of their tantos. Awesome blades.
The Benchmade Ballen ⚔️
Ohhh....that sounds like a mysterious knife.
This commenter looks familiar for some reason haha.
Nice shout out to Ballen! He's awesome. And I've bought knives from that website
Almost any knife will work opening MREs or cutting 550 cord wich is what 99.9999999% of knife use in the military is about.
I’d still want a good capable sturdy knife just incase things go really south. Maybe you survived a boat crash and your weapon went over board and u are the only survivor stranded in enemy territory with just a few tools . That knife attached to u is gonna be real useful. Could use it to make a spear and hunt for food. Could use it on a soldier taking a piss way from his buddies and take his gun and ammo and any other useful items you can find. Yes a rare scenario but possible

I love my SKR but My Cpl that I traded a knife for added a better retention slive on the side by using a hot knife to melt the side of the SKR sheath. I would love to show SRK my sheath so they can improve the design because I love my knife and have used it on my deployments and use it as my bushcraft knife now
They use to carry a SOG seal knife many years ago.
Mr Ballen, big man💥
Used to carry two knifes,
1 upper body, 1 lower body.
1 was heavy for chopping etc , 1 light with a sharp pointed end for "cutting"
1 on the left side of my body, 1 on the right..
Benchmade knives are amazing
Yes the knock test 😂😂😂😂 I'm convinced
Seals carry whatever they want, and it’ll probably be a winkler because damneck started that whole thing
Winkler blades (and hawks) are awesome.
I got both knives, and that benchmade adamas is no joke. I used mine to split hardshell blue crabs for redfish bait. I basically used it like an axe. I put that edge through hell. Obviously it’s a bit dull, but if you saw how I was abusing that thing…. Blood, guts, metal truck bed, dropping on rocks… I can confidently say I really use these expensive knives, and benchmade delivers. I’ll probably grab another eventually, but it’s hard to justify because I know this thing won’t quit. Overpriced? Absolutely, but they are DAMN good knives. The SRK is great to, but the adamas is a workhorse beast.
He looks like he could tell some amazing scary stories
Can you please deliver this video in story format?
I like one for camping & the outdoors !
Same knives I issued my grandsons for when defacation hits the cooling apparatus!!!!
The standar issue knife is minimalist, the advantage is . . it's easy to clean.
That seal knows where Bells Canyon is
That Navy Seal Who Is Scary, Now Tells Stories about scariness
Ballen!
There's hundreds of good knives to choose from.
Cold Steel, my favorite knife brand!
A dark and mysterious thumbnail
I wasn’t an operator at all but when I was active Army I had a gerber strong arm in coyote brown I carried on my plate carrier.
We had seals on the boat several times, can’t remember ever seeing either one of those knives.
like the video states, the srk is a bud/s knife which is before they make seal. the other is just a knife of choice of mr ballen when he was a seal. so it makes sense that you saw neither.
You could say the knives are… “strange, dark, and mysterious” like a story
Mr ballen a real mf g, ayyyy love his story telling.
Man, john is Ballen
I carried the folding adamus for my whole military carrier best large utility knife I’ve ever had
The SRK is a REALLY bad knife btw. I have it and the blade is already wobbling in the grip after 2-3 uses in the woods.
A classic example of: What military picks might not be good(for you) at all.
You got the sk5 version I'm assuming
@@moshpitmachine Yup
@@JohnZ556 It should withstand some batoning though. Its is used as a military survival knife after all
This video certainly made me appreciate the strange, dark and mysterious delivered in story format.
Man looks like he could tell some strange stories
They used to be huge proponents of Spyderco. I have a couple but prefer the Benchmade. There are tons of fantastic knife forgers out there now including several former SEALS and other veterans.
Can you guys do a video on special forces? Please.
Mr Ballen the GOAT himself
I have the cold steel srk 6-inch headed for 3 years now very happy with my purchase
The ones I know all carried Winkler Belt Knives and Winkler Crushers. Couple also had Winkler Combat Axes. The Adamas is a great knife. The SRK is the best. Utility and cost? Can’t be beat. Would I rather have my Gucci Winkler or Spartan Difensa, maybe even my Yarborough (Green Beret) by CRK? Sure. But the SRK is a solid choice for anyone.
Well said!
These knives are great if you’re a fan of the strange dark and mysterious delivered in story format.
Knuckle bump, is what truly convinced me
hmmm, he looks like he would tell strange, dark and mysterious stories delivered in story format
The Cold Steel SRK is my EDC knife. Love that knife and i own 2 of them. Its definitely an excellent knife with a tough blade that holds an edge well. Cold Steel makes some great knives
Mr. John Ballen. Love his channel. 😊❤
If you're a fan of the strange, dark, and mysterious, you'll love this knife.
hey i carry that adamas in coyote brown when i was overseas. i’m a pog but i used it to cut hoses on some of our systems
Talk about retention... I have the Ka-Bar BK2 and no matter how much use, that thing holds almost to a fault. It takes 2 thumbs on the retention tab pressing with near full force to unsheath it. I keep it far from body parts!!
hell yeah!
For even less money the Glock field knife should get a shoutout.
I’ve never see mr ballen in his seal gear before 😂
I wonder why they did not mention the price of the benchmade😅
The rat 3 is another great one
My grandpa gave me the second one one day out of nowhere with no context. Cool to see it on youtube
Cold Steel is legitimately the best knife company going between their quality vs price , paying 100$ for a knife that’s comparable to 500/1000$ knives is just wild. You can punch that knife into armor plate and hang your flak vest on it , try that with a K bar 🤣
Finally someone that knows what they are talking about. Well said !!
Not gonna lie, my $40 Luzon XL has been beaten like it runs its mouth and has came in clutch dozens of times when it mattered most.
Lynn Thompson is the man.
I’m sensing something strange, dark, and mysterious about that guy.
Extrema Ratio is one of the best military knife at today.
I own both, they are great
I have the cold steel Srk-C but I wonder how good is the Benchmade adamus if I spelt that name right I’m trying to remember, but is it good because I like Benchmade spyderco And Cold Steel but I also like Gerber Buck And Boker some of my favorites but yeah, I kinda want to get the Adamus again if I spelt that name right without looking at it, I just wanted to know from your experience how good of a knife it is. I like fix blades and I like tactical knives like that. It looks very awesome.
SRK is a kickass knife and not overly pricy
Got an 30yo Coldsteel SRK. Use it always when outdoors. I have abused it in so many ways still great.
The cold steel SRK is a awesome knife. I have the one that’s made with carbon V steel about $120 knife if I recall.
Mr. Ballen. Hell yeah
Has the same energy as women wanting a pair of shoes those favourite singer wore
I have no idea what the seals do, or even in the navy. But the army doesn't issue knives. Your units supply might get some knives that theyll give out to people but usually not everyone and they were almost always Gerber when I was in. You're also free to carry whatever knife you want to carry. I'm pretty sure in uniform you can carry whatever you want regardless of state law as well. Thats just my .02
A lot of guys are carrying Benchmade SOCP daggers now. Mostly as backups or deeply concealed but they're there.
