I’m also a flight attendant and this is real life for us. Sometimes you get stuck being on call and not used and that’s just the way it is. No sugar coating the money struggles
Alyssa, I love watching you regardless if you’re flying or not! Your personality and positivity make watching you such a joy. I even got my boyfriend who’s a pilot into watching you with me! I know from his experience commuting can be so hard so please take care of yourself!! Also, I’m the same age as you and haven’t thought much about budgeting so taking you and Damon’s advice, I think I’m going to start trying to do better so thanks for that! Thanks for sharing your life with us, hope you’re doing well! 🩷
Being on reserve is so rough I can’t imagine adding commuting. Love that you’re still able to make videos without flying. That’s what I kinda struggle with as well❤
It’s been challenging but it’s also been fun stepping out of my comfort zone and still being creative and sharing my life in an authentic way. I’m learning that being yourself and being honest is the best way to go! I wish you the best of luck on your journey as well my friend 🫶🏼
AA FAs just ratified a new contract that not only includes pay raises, but also includes boarding/deplaning pay! Might be something to look into? Commute from AUS > DFW's a LOT shorter!!
My sister and her fiance/husband went through this - crash course in financial education and a bit of a chaotic pay schedule flying. But I will say that getting control of finances was extremely empowering for her and she really took it and ran with it. Like you said, it's a little hard to get the reality of spending etc but you can actually build from there!!
Ooh, I like the money chat! I also hopped onto the finances bandwagon kind of late, Alyssa! I'm 30 now, and I feel like I started taking money and saving more seriously about 5 years ago or so. Paying off debt is one of the best things you can do. It felt so freeing when I paid back family after college. I like how positive minded you are. You are right: making the hard decisions now can positively benefit the future. However, I do think that the flying industry underpays its employees... I saw that with my mom (who has left the business) and you're sharing some info in this video as well. $11 for meal(s) throughout the day when you have an overlay... wow. And nothing when you're on standby? Interesting. I don't know if I could do your job! Keep up the positive vibes! I like your videos! It's like hanging out with a friend! Thank you for the podcast recommendation. 🙂
Phylicia you are always so wonderful! Thank you for your continued support and sharing your experiences too! I absolutely love it. The pay is tough but I love what I do so I wouldn’t trade it!
I did Instacart for a little bit when I started at my regional. I just felt like the income wasn't worth the time but sometimes I think about doing it again. I worked with a flight attendant who does it every Sunday but she knows which part of our city/outskirts is best for it. I'm sorry that you're having to fly up to base to just sit around on call most of the time. hopefully you will get your line back soon!
that's really impressive what you are now doing for your saving Alyssa!!! I am a London based FA and not earning much now as it's coming to the off-peak seasons... May start doing some side business and just wondering you have talked about your money chat thing (?), what platform you are using? Was thinking of Premium Chat but not that willing to link with my personal social media xx
I use the app Rocket Money to keep track of all my expenses and spending as well as just an excel spreadsheet and see my costs each month and adjust accordingly:) I have a big white board in my bedroom so I’m always looking at my budget! Haha
I've always wanted to be a flight attendant. But knowing that they don't get paid that well is discouraging. I currently work full time at a food store. The pay and benefits are really good.
Yeah most people don’t do this job for the pay! It wouldn’t be worth it that way for sure but I love what I do and we have other benefits that sort of trade off. We still definitely need better contracts but we are in the process of fighting for them!
SO true! I’ve been saying that it needs to be included in school curriculum because it is so important. Thank you for your continued support my friend! 🤍

Thanks for letting me know we’re in this together 😭🫶🏼
Please share whatever you have to share. Doesn’t have to be flying, everything you share is very mindful and inspirational 🤍happy fall 🍁
I definitely agree!
Thank you Nadia, I really appreciate that! Happy fall 🌾🍁🥰

i’m just shy of three year pay and i just picked up a second job. budgeting is very crucial in this career field 😩
Yeah it can be so tough 😭 especially since the pay is the same regardless of the city you live in/ cost of living
@ exactly!
Commuting is no joke.
Good video. It looks rough being without a place to stay. Good luck
Love the background music…

Hello! Love your vlogs! I have a question, where do you keep your car? Are you allowed to keep it in the employee parking lot?
Yes I do keep my car in the lot!

Hi I'm Gary C Wallace from Columbus Indiana can we be friends
I'm 30 and I have been focusing on my finance. I wish all high schools made a financial class mandatory.
Share whatever you want, it is inspiring 🩵
Right? I also didn't learn this in school...
SO true! I’ve been saying that it needs to be included in school curriculum because it is so important. Thank you for your continued support my friend! 🤍
