Robot Quest Arena was our family's favorite game of 2023. Our son (age 7) loves it. It is a simple deck builder with a battle bot theme. There is no player elimination; the bots respawn. It's so so good.
I am a big fan of Harrow County. It has such a unique blend of mechanisms (and is the first game I have played with a cube tower). I love the “capture the flag” style gameplay where you have to balance aggressively pursuing your goals while blocking your opponent from reaching theirs. Game times can vary greatly based on your play style, the decision space is huge, and there is a lot of variety in the setup. I hope you enjoy it!
I got to meet, chat with, and even play a full game of Dice Throne with Manny Trembley at last year's PaxU. It was the absolute highlight of the show for me. He is one of the nicest people in the industry (and that's saying something)! Carly, you're going to love Neon Reign; I backed it on KS, and have been playing a lot of it. It's fantastic!
How on earth did you two manage to get this many games when you were only there for a day?!? I was hoping to make it to PaxU next year, but it's the same weekend as the Philly marathon and prices and crowds are going to be NUTS. So I'll look for another convention to be my first board game convention!
@@happykimmiedesignsYou leave the safety of the Castle at night and hunt humans along the way, the farther you get the more points you earn per kill but you have to make it back before dawn or you burn up and score nothing, that’s the Clank like part… the humans have varying abilities and blood effects that can help or hinder as some have “Spicy” blood that impacts your abilities until you cleanse yourself among other things! I love Clank but with this theme and additional gameplay mechanics I love The Hunger so much more!
Ah I missed Combo! I didn't realize it was a retheme of Surfasauras. I was there for all three days and feel like I couldn't see it all, I don't know how you did it in one day!
Pax Unplugged has been my only consistent con for the oast 3 years, but next year, it's during BGG con (which was one I was debating). Pax has become WAY busier and closer to a Gen Con versus a playing games con as well and really want to prioritize getting a "playing games" convention back on my schedule. Anyways, I didn't get to bump into for your quick visit at the convention, but hopefully sometime in 2025!
