UMA DELÍCIA the new game *is* physics and momentum based, actually. there's a dive mechanic in the game that, when swinging out of the dive, gives you more momentum than just swinging normally. you'll also start to fall if you stay in the air long enough, and that will also give you a little more momentum. as for the physics, the longer your web line, the slower you'll swing, and vice-versa. there are also speed boosts you can unlock in the game, just like in Spider-Man 2. know your facts before you make a statement like that.
Spider man 2 was one of the first of its kind. Night cycle completely open world and just the fact that spidey can go any we're in NY. Before sm2 this feeling of freedom in a video gam has never really happend before (like it feels in sm2) spiderman2 will always be my favorite Spider-Man game. But over time I will admit the games got better. More web attacks, better controls,etc (Spider-Man 3 was garbage tho. I can't dodge for the life of me in combat.) overall I love Spider-Man games and can't wait for this one!

You could aim where you wanted to shoot and shoot the Web and if you held the button, spider man would just hang there if you wanted or you could shoot one Web at one building with one hand and at another with the other hand and just hang there, or use those two website to sling shot, yes sling shot your self. It was magic. I wished spiderman ps4 would have done this, but instead they chose to follow the formula of every other spiderman games and have a one button swing....
You press the L1 button. It's a mode called Spider Reflexes, and not only does it slow down time so that you can do easy counters, but Spider Man gets a damage boost and some mode specific moves. The game never teaches you how to use it, I found out because I read the instruction manual. Treyarch must have taken a page out of Devil May Cry when they implemented this technique.
Garf Attack again, like many things in the game, the game itself never teaches it to you. I wonder if people knew the game had a lock on camera where you can center the camera on a specific enemy. Or when you can counter you could influence what counter you could do by using the left analog stick.
Webs actually wrapped and got smaller when swinging around buildings in Spider-Man 2. They don't in the new one. Spider-Man 2's web swinging will never be beaten.

Ah my childhood was owned by Spider-man 2 and Ultimate Spider-man. Good Nostalgia. Always felt that while you could get a high swing speed in 2, Ultimate's was more polished, less stiff. Even web of shadows improves in that. But lets be real, the new Spider-man already blows every gameplay aspect of every past Spider-man game out of the water just with the demo. Also consider, in that demo, thats an un-upgraded spidey which blows my mind how good the progression in the new one could be. This is polish meets depth and I'm so glad a spidey game is finally getting the devs it deserves.
Spider Man 2 (movie version. Not Electro) really opened the door for all the rest to come. Before that we had flat faces, and fog that covered the city. And the endless sewers. There was no wide expansive city. Only a couple sections. I can't wait for this game!

Because it was the best web slinging open world Spider-Man game we ever got. There were some that were close like the Ultimate Spider_Man game, but it lacked on the open world stuff. As for Web of Shadows, I think its because no very many people even knew it existed, don't think it topped Spider-Man 2 in the open world department either.
Aside from the websligning this game was just filled with bosses not to mention Maguire voiced Spiderman in the game, which no other live action Spiderman has done.

It's fun to see how much they have changed (such as in graphics) while the gameplay is pretty similar. Outside of more context based actions and smoother animation and camera, both games look to play very similarly. Clearly Insomniac has studied the past Spiderman games to utilize what works and avoid what doesn't.
Imo 2004 were simple times for gaming and living (if you were in your late teens with less responsibilities). One of the best years of gaming besides 1996, 1998,2007 and a honorable mention to 2017.
Spiderman 2 (PS2) is a great game even by today's standards. The new PS4 title is definitely going to dethrone it. It is a Spiderman game like the ones we love, with an original story inspired by the entire history, and is made with love by fans, for fans. Spiderman (PS4) is not just going to be better than any other Spiderman game, it will be better than any of the 6 movies. It just looks that good. It's reminiscent of the Activision PS1 game that was a spiritual successor to the recent cartoon and an amalgam of classic comics. A great original story that feels organic. We're in for a treat!
What I remember most about Spider-Man 04, was swinging around the city for hours doing tricks. I hope the new one gives me the same feeling like I was flying, like it did then.

I agree, am sure it'll be fun but people that are really hyped for the new one must not have played the originals, it all plays, more or less, the same.
Ultimate and Web of Shadows were great, and The Amazing Spider-Man games had an interesting spin on web swinging; however the swinging in Spidey 2 has been unchallenged for years - until now.
It's nice to see people complementing another Spider-Man game's web swinging over Spidey 2's for a change. Looking forward to PS4's Spidey!
*Added note: there has always been something so satisfying about the long swings in Spidey 2 that, even today, doesn't get old.

Spiderman 1 and 2 were my favourite ps2 games back then. Played the heck out them during the summers. Man those were the best days. 2004-2005-2006 these were the golden years for gaming and will always remain special for me. Ahh the nostalgia is suffocating.

Spiderman 2 was great and theres no question that it was the best superhero games in its generation but Spiderman on Ps4, whoa is awsome men,,, very very big improvement... after a big disappoinment on Spiderman 3 games and big success of Batman arkham series, i switch side, from spidey game fans to batman game fans but i think this game will led me back to where i belong, an Spiderman game fans.

In the old spiderman the web only attaches to the buildings while swinging. And they stay there a bit, the dissappear. This was THE game of my childhood and can never be overbeaten.

Ah my childhood was owned by Spider-man 2 and Ultimate Spider-man. Good Nostalgia. Always felt that while you could get a high swing speed in 2, Ultimate's was more polished, less stiff. Even web of shadows improves in that.
But lets be real, the new Spider-man already blows every gameplay aspect of every past Spider-man game out of the water just with the demo. Also consider, in that demo, thats an un-upgraded spidey which blows my mind how good the progression in the new one could be. This is polish meets depth and I'm so glad a spidey game is finally getting the devs it deserves.

Spider Man 2 (movie version. Not Electro) really opened the door for all the rest to come. Before that we had flat faces, and fog that covered the city. And the endless sewers. There was no wide expansive city. Only a couple sections. I can't wait for this game!
ill never understand why people think spiderman 2 has the best web swinging, he feels so slow, like a paperweight drifting in the wind, the camera is so far away, and it's so ridged in the game, you spend half of the swinging hitting buildings, i've never played a spiderman game with perfect web swinging, but i think the best (in my opinion) goes to web of shadows
Web Of Shadows makes you go way too fast and doesn't feel like you're Spider-Man at all. 2018 wins by miles because you actually feel like Spider-Man.
Because it was the best web slinging open world Spider-Man game we ever got. There were some that were close like the Ultimate Spider_Man game, but it lacked on the open world stuff.
As for Web of Shadows, I think its because no very many people even knew it existed, don't think it topped Spider-Man 2 in the open world department either.
Aside from the websligning this game was just filled with bosses not to mention Maguire voiced Spiderman in the game, which no other live action Spiderman has done.
In order for the swinging to feel more quick you have to get all the swing upgrades (they unlock through the progression of the story)
Miroslav Babic, i understand where you're coming from about web of shadows, it's not perfect (like webs not attaching to buildings) but i do agree with you though, the new spiderman game is gonna blow every other right out of the park
It's fun to see how much they have changed (such as in graphics) while the gameplay is pretty similar. Outside of more context based actions and smoother animation and camera, both games look to play very similarly. Clearly Insomniac has studied the past Spiderman games to utilize what works and avoid what doesn't.

Spiderman 2 (PS2) is a great game even by today's standards. The new PS4 title is definitely going to dethrone it. It is a Spiderman game like the ones we love, with an original story inspired by the entire history, and is made with love by fans, for fans. Spiderman (PS4) is not just going to be better than any other Spiderman game, it will be better than any of the 6 movies. It just looks that good. It's reminiscent of the Activision PS1 game that was a spiritual successor to the recent cartoon and an amalgam of classic comics. A great original story that feels organic. We're in for a treat!
