Hi Jeff. Thanks for the vid. I have 2 basic questions. 1) am I correct in assuming we should upload PDF rather than Word documents? If I upload a word doc will the recipient receive a PDF or word format document?
I always do PDF although I believe you can do word doc as well. The recipient would just get a form to sign, it wouldn’t be pdf or doc it would go through DocuSign.

Hi Jeff. I am setting up a docusign document, the sender is blue fields and recipient is yellow fields. When I enter all the text, I get a problem when previewing. When viewing as the recipient, ALL text fields that i filled in as the sender (yellow) are blank in the preview. And vice versa. When viewing as sender, all the text I filled in on the recipient side (blue) is blank. Isn't this a problem? Then the recipient can't see any text fields I have filled in when reviewing to sign?

This is for signing Contracts, Agreements, Acknowledgement of receiving an order etc., basically any document that needs to be signed by two or more parties and will be done thru an electronic paper (as per his sample) and can be sign electronically without them having to print it out into a paper or sign by a pen. Two people from opposite corner of the globe can agree in writing not just verbally in seconds once the details were agreed. That is why we can save paper/trees on this innovation.

For a Text field, you can select "Validation" and choose "SSN" so that the signer is guided to input only 9 numbers. Moving to Formatting for that SSN Text field, you can also check "Hide text with asterisks". On the resulting PDF, only asterisks will show. This way, anyone getting a copy of the PDF won't be able to get the SSN value. However, you the Sender will be able to get the actual SSN number in the DocuSign web app.

You would insert blank text boxes where you want the recipient to fill out the spaces. It can be found under Standard Fields called “text”. Hope that helps!

Hey, So outside of the signature add-ons and other text that you added, is the recipient able to add their own text to the contract or document as well?
If you assign the signer a text field to enter the text in, then it is there for them when they are in the signing experience. There are also other field types you can use (checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, etc.). You can even use a "signer attachment" field to allow the signer to upload and attach a document (photo of insurance certificate, etc.).

all well and good. you did not mention that you are dragging the signature box, the initial box, the text box into the document. not having used it before, i feel that is the most important thing to tell someone and not move so quickly. it i don't know the program how would i know that that you have to number the box of recipients in order. so this is a brief video, but you are missing the basic of how to use doc u sign. explain the the screen and what the items mean. dragging and making a text box.

Jeff, Thank you for making this!! I am researching what “cloud” type company to use for our business. I manage a small RV park with long-term residents. We are about to open soon and I need to create our lease agreements and also a Rules and Regulations that I’ll need our residents to initial and sign. We like the idea of cloud storage because we don’t have an office per se (I live on site and work from my RV) Would this type of thing work for what I need? Would I have to create the documents first and then import them into DocuSign? Or is there a way to create documents within DocuSign once you have an account? thanks for any info you can offer!
Yes you could use DocuSign for this. I would create the basic document first and then import into DocuSign. Also, probably a long shot, but if the owner has any interest in selling the RV park I could be interested, I’m looking for different types of parks like that.

Log into your DocuSign account, go to your avatar on upper right (picture or initials), choose My Profile. In your profile go to Signatures and delete the old one and add a new one.
The "envelope" isn't active until it has been "sent". During the creation process, you are free to modify it with all the tools available. You can add more documents, replace recipients, delete a document, etc. Once sent, it is very strictly controlled. As a signer, you want assurance that the documents you signed did not get modified by anyone after the fact.

When you click on the left side panel on the signature part it will prompt you to create a signature which you just type your name in.

When you create an account on docusign, it gives you the opportunity to create your electronic signature and initials.

Why can't you sign the document first then send it to Bob the seller? Why do you have to send it to yourself first?
