Steel Pulse were a huge part of my teenage years. Inspirational, meditational music.
Thank you so much for posting this, a Steel Pulse/David Hinds fan from the first chord. A musician's musician and a universal message none can debate. Give thanks Steel Pulse for staying true and moving forward ever backward never! A true artist cutting the edge of society to take a much closer look and change focus in one love fashion. Keep shining!
Well Said.
I absolutely love Steele Pulse 💗!!!!
I met David Hinds at the airport in Puerto Rico. He is very down to earth. The dude is the real deal.
What a beautiful voice, between him and Dennis Brown, they displayed the most unique beautiful voices

A very interesting interview, and David Hinds makes it plain. He is very analytical.
where am I likely to cross paths with David? Still my dream to meet up with him before be both depart this earth Sooner or later. I have lots of questions for him on lots of lyrics and how he came up with them and how growing up was. Has had a profound impact on me with his music and lyrics. Learn a lot about this world through his music. wow!
Had the pleasure of meeting David back in JA back in the early 90's at HIGH TIMES.
Cool dude!
Thank you guys!!! An amazing interview!!!!!
David Hinds STILL has one beautiful voice...singing & speaking!
Totally agree
Great interview, great questions.
i saw steel pulse in liverpool in 1978 it changed my life!
Don't touch Dread's hair. Just admire from a distance.
Big up steel pulse..could’ve never said it better the REGGAE music is by far the best and the only music that really can unify the people and the world 🌎 for that matter 👍🏾
I would really love to see a proper biological documentary done on this group, this is one of Europe's greatest reggae bands. They deserve the respect. And rightfully earned it with hits songs that were heart felt in a troubled times. Big respect to David grizzly sylvan Alfonso and all that made up steel pulse from its early years to now. Thanks for your joy of music.
💯💯💯
I agree💯!!!!! While they're still here with us.
haha David Hinds is an excellent gentleman
Great interview with Reggae group, Steele Pulse
its not just the music people the songs are great the songs are wnderful but the composer is much more because we know anyone will try to sing your song but its a spirit that makes and compose and it the spirit that i seek and that spirit is David am i the only one commenting
When a black man with locks needs to touch a Rasta's hair. We've got a long way to go. Wow!
Masauko The first time he gets a pass and then his disrespectful ass goes and does the file shit again, it just doesn’t make any fucking sense to me.
On the other hand, it's a hell of a haircut!
Lmmfao
He is Star struck....he wouldn't even be given a chance to do this fuckery now cos these are Legends.
agreed...no touching of the hair so question should have been left alone...my all time favorite reggae band :) My fave is Chant a Psalm.
Susie Warmington i play that song everyday for my idren
The brother is a true professional has a powerful down to earth disposition. Which is why I can't really fault the brothers for acting like some got damn groupies, at least they realize their in the presence of greatness.
this is actually a really good interview!
I remember the Steel Pulse visit to Nigeria. They came to my band leader's room at the University of Benin, that singular visit changed the music flavor of the campus back then. It was unfortunate they had a terrible experience with their promoter.
YOU SMART AND HUMBLE AND ALWAYS ON YOUR FEET AND YOU'RE FUNNY DAMN LOVE U DAVID YOU ARE MY BROTHER FOR REAL AND I WISH MORE MEN WERE AS CONFIDENT AS YOU CAN U IMAGINE THE JOY THE SUCESS WOW
What's the song at the very beginning?
Handsworth, Birmingham. Not Brixton
Steel pulse the best in town❤
I just got to hail up David dread hinds this past Saturday at world beat center in San Diego. I was too nervous to ask to take photo with him so my wife did. lol ..I wouldn't ever think to ask to touch his locks!
I actually learned a lot about David and what his message is in good detail... but the dread touching and then asking if his hair was part of a costume was quite odd
Disrespectful
i would love if steel pulse could come to St.Vincent and perform...oh i wish
Thx
Why would the person who did this interview with one of the most popular man behind reggae music ask mr.hinds some of those things. I would like to know what his thoughts about the killing of blacks by police and racism in 2014.vex
I LOVED STEEL PULSE since high school, in 1988 I saw them in concert "backing up" ; INXS! Everytime I have tried since my 13th concert they have never REALLY ACKNOWLEDGED the BROTHERS in the U.S.(BABYLON) , they SEEM to PREFER the COMPANY of those they SPEAK about, in their lyrics! I STILL LOVE STEEL PULSE!
lionraw5930 they have lots of brothers, from the US playing in their band. I also saw them in LA with INXS
He said is your hair a part of you or is it a part of your stage costume ?
I love this brother and the crew.. These guys don't seem to know that you don't touch the original Rastaman hair.. Nothing costume about his hair and attire for David is authentic and deep...
David Hinds is such a cool guy, that i really love him. I wonder who's responssible for the subtitle? Learn English please!
🥰🇪🇹🙌🏾❤️💛🖤💚
Song 00:03 00:23 ???
It’s called, “find it, quick”
that and the stupid question " DO you wash you hair?!" lol
You are an interesting person indeed. I like your taste. I take it you read the Psalms.
À you 8❤
yellow for the gold that they stole
This dude doing the interview is so disrespectful. He should edit himself out of the video entirely
I came up on this video because I am pregnant and thinking of naming my son David- he would be David Hinds. I am Jamaican.I guess I will stick with the name. :-)
genius band
Respect for being yourself dread. Hail Rastafari !
💛💛💛💛💛
agree
WOW I AM STILL IN AW OF ALL THE dAVID HAS TO SAY ARE PEOPLE LISTENING NOT AS A FAN BUT AS A PERSON COMMITED TO HEARING THE TRUTH YEA DC'S OWN FRONT ROW AND CENTER 2012
I have loved Steel Pulse since my great friend (now Pulitzer-winning playwright) Lynn N. turned me on to Ku Klux Klan in the summer of '82. What a great band, what a great singer poet and lyricist is David Hinds. However the interviewer here is not good. Please try to know something about the people you interview before you put in on camera. Why did you even want to talk to him, you seemed to know so little? My two cents...
Sure, I get that, but the dude did the best he could within his own level of awareness. He meant no ill will to Rasta Hinds. No harm no foul in my estimation.
Brilliantbeing Journalist - research. Just saying. Don't mean to be mean or unkind.... I would have enjoyed the interview more if he dug a little deeper.
THATS RIGHT DO AWAY WITH TRIBULISM WOW IM SO OVERWHELMED BY DAVID DID I SPELL IT RIGHT WOH HIS SMILE AND CHARM I NOMINATED NAW MAYBE NOT BUT I NOMINATED ALL CITIZENS OF THE WORLD TO JUST LITEN FOR A CHANGE JUST LISTEN

He has got a pretty much normal english accent, with a bit of jamaican mixed in.. you will find people in any city talking like him

dude wtf type of interview is this ... ask some good questions man . Mr. Hinds dnt got no time fi ya bomboklad boi !!!but i like it lol
I don't like the questions man. Terrible questions and then to top it up with touching his hair put me off this interviewer. Anyway give thanks for the interview 'cos i love Steel Pulse. Soldiers is my favourite closely followed by Stepping Out.
Jah Rastafari!
Bad interview...The interview is very poor. Respect Bredda Hinds
What made the interview poor?
its not my place.... but i would say the most embarassing moment is playing at marthas vineyard, no rasta should be playing for and promoting elites like that, i LOVE steel pulse but i will always hold that against them
The interviewer is just an uninformed dude...
horrible english of interviewer.even david couldnt catch what he was saying...
