Arctic Explorer room tour | Alton Towers Hotel ❄️
Hi everyone and welcome to our latest vlog!
In this weeks vid we venture to the Alton Towers Hotel ready for Oktoberfest celebrations!
We absolutely loved the theming of this room and would definitely stay again. We did pay around £390 in total for 2 nights so not in our usual budget for hotel stays, but this room was the next up from the standard Explorer room and came with a fridge and air conditioning which made a huge difference given the current heatwave (standard rooms have no air con but you can ask for a fan!).
We did make a bit of a mess when booking so here are our tips for the future:
❄️ Be mindful of how many times you search for a particular night. Like all holiday/hotel bookings Merlin work from a live system so the more popular a certain time appears to be the price will likely increase
❄️We booked at a time when an offer was on and paid £250 for a standard room for the Saturday. A few months down the line the price had gone down by around £100! We reached out to the hotel to have a (polite) moan and we were able to upgrade to the Arctic Explorer room, the staff were really accommodating but you can never guarantee this as an outcome - the moral of the story is if the price appears to be good and in your budget, just get it booked!
❄️ If you want to stay more than one night be sure to book it together where possible. We decided to add a night on last minute and again the pricing for this fluctuated between £97-£141. The downside is by adding a night is you get a separate booking - for us this meant we had to ask to have the same room number (as initially we didn't despite both nights being in an Arctic Explorer room) and you also have to check in the first night, check out and then check in again. Fortunately as we headed into the park Saturday morning guest services just renewed our room keys - this also meant we had to pay the £5 room deposit twice

Keep an eye on the hotels, the prices change constantly. We booked ours only a couple of weeks before we went because the price dropped massively 😁😁
