    Great illustration of how staying in time is more important than striking every note completely cleanly.

    • @yrrahyrrah
      @yrrahyrrah 4 роки тому +52

      It's extremely hard to get clean notes when trying to get that funky "striking multiple strings hard" feel that's used here. And if it sounds good in the mix, it's good.

I think it’s the same here, the missed or dull notes are all rhythm based to keep up with Flea and Chad. A teacher would wince at the imperfections but a master would appreciate the self expression.

      It was hard for me in the beggining but I've got it fine now. Just keep practising with the muting of the strings. Try to avoid playing the first two strings at all, that way even if they're not completely muted you still won't hear them. But yeah, practice. It's so fun once you've got it.

      But he can shred with some of the best, he's actually incredibly technically skilled, he just has decided to play this way cuz its more musical and interesting.

      Do this with most guitar tracks on that were recorded on tape and I'm sure you'll find the same thing. We like to think of a piece of music as finished or clean or perfect when it has been on the radio a million times, but breaking down tracks like this will reveal so much. That's what makes rock so good. Its human.
