Sorry to hear it’s been such a tough year and hope 2024 improves for you, my friend. Totally agree Melchor is a future classic author and Mauvignier = if Woolf had written a thriller. Yes! 💙
First of all, VERY happy and delighted to see you in a video! Oo so interesting to hear your thoughts on the right to sex as it’s a book i’ve been really desperate to hear other booktubers articulate on. Lol i technically dnf’ed disorientation and the birthday party but really what it was is i read the first couple pgs of both and decided wrong book wrong time. I’ll pick back up disorientation when im in a kookier mood and im definitely more motivated to resume birthday after your description of it! Sending you the warmest 2024 wishes with the exact right amount of books and relationships/situationships ❤
A girl's story is definitely my favourite Ernaux ! It has stayed with me so much through the years, I'm glad you loved it as well :) I have tried The Birthday Party but never got past the first 20 pages... I'll try again !
It's so lovely to see you back, Alex! I'd like to read The Birthday Party this year. Swimming Home sounds great. Just added to my list of books to read ☺
In 2022 I read 52 books in 52 weeks. Then in 2023 I read 73 books and 14 of them fell in my top 40 of all time so the best reading year of my whole life in 2023 and so I figure take it easy in 2024.
happiest of New Years to you, Alex. How much I loved along Live The Post horn this year. It was on my top 10 list! The reading experience of The Birthday Party, to me, was so unique.
She has a book coming out this year, new nonfic…Spoon something something, that I read and liked that one too! I think it adds nicely to her nonfic series! 🤓 📚
I stopped giving star ratings to movies and books this year, it’s very freeing. Always great to hear your thoughts on what you’re reading! Have a happy new year!
was so excited to see this video pop up in my feed!! your taste is impeccable and the way you talk about books is so concise and compelling. swimming home was on my favorite list as well, and i plan on getting to the right to sex in the next few months. wishing you all the best in 2024!!
Twas such a pleasure seeing you again because I admit I'd already sent a dm asking if this was still coming😩I pray you get all the very best in 2024 because you deserve it❤❤
Wow, so cool! I picked up Mating at a library book sale this year but hadn't thought about it since, until you! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I'll definitely add it to my TBR this year. Happy new year!!
I really look forward to your end of the year list, and this year was no exception!! I really enjoyed The Happy Couple too. To be honest I wasn't expecting much, so I was surprised by how invested I got. I think the narrative structure really enhanced the character study aspect of the book. And there are so many books on this list I want to read, but you really sold me on Disorientation, which I'd only heard of but hadn't really considered reading. I'm sorry it's been such a rough year, I hope 2024 brings you all the joy and good things!
describing the Melchor over holiday break to your family must've been...a doosy. but good god what a trip that book was. 'twas very close in my top 10 for the year. loved this list! will be making sure the Rush is priority reading for 2024. also, wishing you a sexy reading year for 2024! am always delighted when a video of yours is graced upon the book world here. cheers 💫
I've also moved away from star ratings and tracking my reading online. I just have a notebook where I write the title and author and then leave half a page or so of space to jot down my thoughts as I'm reading or after I finish the book. I feel like this method helps me recall how I felt about a book better than a number based rating system.
The deadpan delivery of "And I am happy to report this white man is still struggling" has killed me 🤣
😈 🤓

I saw someone on tiktok keep a digital Notion of their reading progress, and I think it’s something I want to try next year!
