This Could Be THE GENIUS HIRE to Turn Tennessee Football Around (They Hired Josh Heupel)

- Josh Heupel is going to be the next head coach of Tennessee and i absolutely love this hire. He was a great OC with Missouri and a marvelous head coach at UCF and i think this hire is very risky, but it may turn out to be GENIUS for Danny White and the Tennessee program, enjoy!

I LOVE THIS HIRE!!! What do you guys think of the Huepel hire?
Ok they could have done a lot worse. He has done good in developing qbs and has had great offenses but defense is huge question mark.
He really really needs a recruiter that can recruit in the SEC or it doesn’t matter
I loved him as a QB for OU. I’ll leave it at that.
No I’m sorry I can’t. Good luck with him running the program 😂😂 he kinda sucked as an OC for OU even though we remember him as a wonderful QB.
All jokes aside I honestly wish him and yall the best!
A giant "meh". T
As a Tennessee fan I love it. him plus Kevin Steel Will be dangerous
Dude!!! You are way better and more informative than actual Vol talk channels on UA-cam! You are literally the best College Football talk channel on UA-cam. Super underrated, but great content! You should have way over a million followers for this content bud! Keep it up. You’re the best out there.
The one thing that stands out to me is that you’re getting a head coach and AD that are already on the same page. Therefore, it’s likely that there won’t be any conflicts with the front office (i.e. Jimbo Fisher at Florida State). So Heupel would have presumably no problem getting his requests approved. That, alone, is a good sign for Tennessee.
If the Haslams will stay out of the program things would be a lot better than they are…..but their money is EXTREMELY green
I'm a bit skeptical. Felt like UCF has been trending down the past two years after his first season where they went 12-1 and mostly with Frost's kids. My feeling is his tenure will either be a complete mess or the bridge to a longer term coach.
I think it could be good! We will have to wait and see
Me as a UCF fan I think Josh needs to be more strict as a coach he’s more of a player coach
He will have better talent at TN
I agree
@@kmeadows78 he will also be on probation less scholarships less talent they have lost like 20+ players ucf was a better job than this
This is an absolute fantastic hire!. I live in Oklahoma and I'm a lifelong Sooners fan. I watched Josh play as a Sooner and the most impressive trait that he possesses is his football IQ. He certainly was not the most athletic quarterback to ever play at OU but he was by far the most intelligent. He knows football, and he will bring his knowledge and experience to Tennessee and I think he's going to make a fantastic coach for the Volunteers. If the fan base and donors will give him a couple of years to get a staff in place and get some recruits in there, Tennessee will be good. Keep in mind, Josh is from the Mike Leach coaching tree so you're not going to see a smash mouth SEC type offense with Josh. He'll most likely bring a fast-paced no huddle offense, with a running back that plays heavily in the pass game. Tennessee fans may not like this kind of offense, but if it wins games that's all that counts. I love my Sooners but I'll definitely be rooting for the Vols and can't wait to see them on the field over the next couple of years!
Sooners recruiting went in the toilet with Heupel and Norvel.
Lincoln Riley did more on the recruiting trail in his first month and a half on the job than Heupel had done the previous two years.
@@StuUngar Recruiting self involved highschool kids AND their parents is like spitting into the wind and hoping you don't get wet.
@@forlornhope1521 That’s a horse shit excuse. Cale Gundy has never had a problem with it. Nor did Brent Venables. Lincoln Riley has zero problems with it.
But Jay Norvell, Bruce Kittle, and Josh Heupel cant recruit their way out of a nutsack. Jay Boulware actually ran off players and recruits.
@@StuUngar Was Mayfield already at OU when Riley took over? Riley choose Mayfield as the best QB to run his offense for like 3 years...Next was Kyler Murray was a transfer that started at OU...Next was Jalen Hurts was a transfer that started at OU..Its good to finally see a Riley 5 star recruit run his system instead of a transfer Running it for 1 and gone...
Awful hire. He underachieved at ucf
The negativity around the fanbase is insane. 🤦♂️Personally, I think this is a great hire and Tennessee fans need to give him their full support.
He is a terrible hire
You're the kind of fan that thinks EVERY hire is a great hire.
@@garypulliam3740 The way I see it is he's 0-0 for UT. He's done nothing good or bad at all yet. You can either back him and give him your full support, or you can belittle him and criticize him from day one.
@@everetthatfield7663 😂 Or you can realistically and objectively critique the decision to hire him. I mean if you weren't so shallow in thought, you'd notice that THAT is what this video is all about. But you've probably never had an original thought yourself so you are incapable of thinking past the length of your nose. This IS a terrible hire.
@@garypulliam3740 Can you tell me the powerball numbers too? Since he is FOR CERTAIN gonna fail?
as a neutral i think this could be a horrible hire. Heupel's teams went from 12-1 to 10-3 to 6-4. He is NOT an elite recruiter and this just feels like the new AD bringing in a familiar face.
absolutely gutless hire in my opinion.
As an OU fan, not only is he not an elite recruiter. Hes a downright awful recruiter. He became the QB coach in 06. But Sam Bradford came in the 2006 class and his recruitment in 2005 was mostly Chuck Long.
Heupels best recruit was Landry Jones. Also, if you look at his recruiting record and guys he was the leas recruiter, he would pull in 1-2 per year.
Look at OU’s recruiting under Heupel as OC and it was the worst under Bob Stoops. When Lincoln Riley was hired, it immediately upticked. Riley was hired in January and before signing day in Feb, Riley pulled in 3 highly ranked recruits.
He’s a safe hire with the turmoil that Tennessee is facing, but your recruiting is about to fall to shit unless he hires some ace recruiters for his assistants.
Exactly!!! Same 💩, different hire!!!!!!!!!
Covid year shouldnt count and 7 of the 8 losses while at UCF were all by less than a td. So even the loses were competitive. Also his offensive production went up every year while at UCF so it’s all gonna depend on who he gets as Defensive Coordinator. Gets Steel on D and Vol Nation will be back on top of the East
@@Pccartman1983 i want nothing more than Vols to be competitive but Heupel isnt the answer. i get covid is an odd year but it IS STILL a regression. he inherited a great team and has dropped off its production even by G5 standards.
even if steel becomes DC how well can Heupel or his assistants recruit? obviously the Vol name will help but Heupel hasnt really demonstrated he can recruit
@@headintheclouds6935 his offense didn’t regress . His offense got better every year he was there . It was his defense. And it looks like he is putting together a pretty strong defensive staff at TN.
I am a Tennessee fan and student on campus. Imma just say the only people that don’t like this hire are people not on campus and not affiliated with Tennessee besides being a fan. Every student I have spoken to loves the hire and is on board with what we are doing. I am also happy with this hire. Those who don’t like it were expecting us to hire Lane Kiffin, Hugh Freeze, or Luke Fickell. The same unrealistic delusional expectations that makes our fan base look terrible. Everyone on campus and involved in the university (including the players I might add) are excited about this hire
If the players are so "excited about this hire" then why are so many of them entering into THE PORTAL? I`m a 65 year - old man, and a life-long Vols` fan. But, I`ve never seen it look so bad for UT football. Sad thing that slime ball Pruitt got a job with the Giants after screwing this team up like he did.
I'm going to support coach heupel I love Tennessee Ive been a fan for 43 years And I want whoever's at Tennessee to succeed Can't wait to watch the Vols next fall go Tennessee I will always love and support the Big Orange
Btw I try to watch all your videos and give them a like as much as I can bro! I really want to see you succeed big time. Keep grinding
I actually graduated from A&M twice, but after attending a game vs Tennessee a few years ago, I’d say that their wildly passionate fan base deserves a winner. They also deserve 100% clarity from their administration. That is a very attractive school. The SEC needs them to regain their prior form. They will get there, but the Chancellor, President, AD, Coach and fan base need to all be pointed in the right direction. I watched my school become plagued with weak and politically minded administrators. That cocktail produced some of the most bizarre hiring, firing and contract decisions. I can’t say that A&M is out of the cloud of politics yet, but can say there has been a transition away from politics and toward results. Tennessee will be back. I’m confident in that.
Tennessee gets the players but cant develop, this is a good hire for the program especially with the quarterback play these past few seasons.
But can this guy develop talent well enough to be successful at a place like Tennessee? I mean, UCF regressed a little every year he was there.
Nice profile pic lol
What players per say? The ones they cheated to get were mostly busts! Think this dude can recruit better? He better find a good def coordinator too that can coach and recruit as he is an offensive guy!
@Bennie Boy profile pic is nickado avacado

I've heard that TN is headed in the right direction each time a new coach has been hired since Phil Fulmer was fired. We've seen this movie before. Hire a coach who has been successful at a lower level, coach has some initial success, coach gets fired, back to square one. What's worse is that this time TN's best players are hitting the transfer portal and TN is waiting to see what penalties they will be handed which will crush recruiting in the short run. I hope that TN will be successful. But, it's hard to see how.
Fulmer has to leave one way or the other. His 2 yr extension began last month before he "retired" with full payout. His being gone will eventually pay off in TN being back in the 3rd in the SEC East which will be middle of the pack for the SEC as a whole.
He’ll be fine as long as UT gives him time to get his players in and over any infractions. It’s going to take more than 4 years though.
Guys a team killer ,,proof is UCf
Honestly I can see their offense immediately being good but defense will be a let down more then likely. If, and that's IF he can produce a good offense in his first year I can see Tennessee being a deep team within 2, maybe 3 years.
They won’t give him time one bad season and our stupid fan base will want him fired thinking we’ll get Nick Saban or some other huge coach. I think it’s a good hire especially given the circumstances at Tennessee right now like you said have to give him time and get a good d coordinator
It's in his contract that they basically have to give him an extra year for every year they enforce scholarship and/or bowl bans. So those years don't count on his contract. I agree though our fans well the loudest ones aren't reasonable and could hurt his chances to build.
@@redrckt24 We were loud about the Pruitt hire and the Fulmer rehire. How were we wrong?
You’ve had tremendous growth in your channel. It’s crazy to think you started just last season.
SC, Mizzou, and Utenn are all heading in the right direction. The SEC east will be fun to watch over the next few years
Heading in the right direction? Bruh we're garbage. This was an alright hire, but I mean we still have pending sanctions, plus it seems like every player is leaving this program. I wish I shared your optimism
I'm not really that impressed with Missouri. Last year they finished 5-5. The last three games their D gave up 148 points. Plus recruiting was only #27. I think they will struggle to get to 500. SC and Tenn are not going to make it to 500. The only interest I see in the 3 teams is if any of them can improve in the next few years.
I don’t know about SC
Sc and Ut ain't heading in the right direction mizzou is
Delusional. Dozens of players left ut and probation is coming.
You must be a TN fan also.. if your not, thanks for the videos! I do my share and am pretty good about staying current with the news surrounding tennessee but your videos go more in depth and i appreciate that! Subscribed man, keep up the good work
Great call on the hire, you look like a genius so far!
Once I saw the Danny White hire for AD at Tennessee, I figured he'd give Heupel a look. As TN fan, I feel optimistic about this hire because I've wanting an offensive minded HC for years. Pruitt was a great coordinator but leading a program that was this broken was not his calling.
My only hope is that he can bring the excitement back into Neyland. In addition to Tennessee being horrible, our brand of football under Pruitt was so boring to watch. His defenses were mainly so underwhelming because he never could keep our offense on the field or put up points in my opinion.
Watching this video, I learned of his role in high powered offenses and even coaching a Heisman winner in the past. Hopefully, he can recruit well in the SEC. Obviously, recruiting will be hard due what will likely be coming down on the program but I hope he has an eye for talent and can spot diamonds in the rough. Also, when it comes to coordinators, I hope he allows the DC to have free reign with that side of the ball.
I'm excited about it. The one big problem UT has had for years is lack of QB development and I think Heupel can help us change that trend. I agree with you, It's a risky hire, but it could pay off big time.
I personally like this because he’s a guy who has showed he can put up points in the SEC (Missouri) and to pair him with Kevin Steele, I’m excited
@Bennie Boy we expect this to happen. He is a great offensive mind.
@Bennie Boy Heupel beat Kiffin's ass twice wtf you talking about?
Gonna need a defense though and some of their best players transferred plus likely punishments for cheating will make things even more difficult. Not saying its impossible but dont find it likely he will be too successful. Also UCF's record got worse every year he was the HC.
Liam Shipley some of our best players who have transferred have been on the offensive end except for Lawrence who didn’t even start last year. Crouch and To’oo’to have reenrolled. Steele if he stays will be amazing
Bennie Boy no one is expecting us to beat them...
I agree this could be an outstanding hire! I really like that UT was willing to try something different. I am really really excited for this fall, I think we will surprise a lot of people this fall!
I’m staying positive. We will see tomorrow, and though it isn’t an SEC-SEC game, we will at least see how Heupel and the new program is thinking about our offense and defense. I think Vol fans like myself should pay attention to the in game decisions he makes directly, like plays and timeout usage and whether he throws or runs when and where. We will almost certainly win tomorrow, so that’s where the real information on the capability or lack thereof he is bringing to Rocky Top will be observed.
Hate that gray is leaving for the sooners
i personally love the hire i know us UT fans have been through a lot and maybe this wasn’t the top guy on your list but he’s the right guy for the job. he is what our player want and he’s a good fit for what we need at the moment. in reality guys like kiffin or franklin didn’t want to come here. this guy puts up points and his players love him. can’t wait for this season go vols
If you content with winning but 8-4 mostly maybe 10-2 once in great while maybe he is guy for you. I can't see him winning SEC or playoffs though, sorry.
@@brettk9316 U T won't win 8 games with heupel 10 is just not happening at Tennessee no coach wants to go there they suck
Hope you’re right about my vols 🍊.. appreciate the effort you put into this
The background music is so soothing and keeps me interested 😌
I like the hire but it is definitely a risk to it as well. Unless there is a possibility of keeping Kevin Steele at a Defensive Coordinator/assistant HC and let him just worry about that defense and building it to what he envision. If Coach Heupel can just focus on the offense and if they keep Steele focused on defense then things could change quickly in Knoxville. But there has been a ton of hate on this hire but with how much he fell off from 2018-2020 at UCF. Tennessee is in a position where we can't get a big splash hire. This hire could turn out to be amazing or it could turn out being a terrible choice but it is just a wait and see. We haven't even played a game yet people are saying that it's the worst hire of all time lol. As a lifelong Tennessee fan, people have to have patience.
Steel seems to have coached everywhere...I remember his days at Baylor as HC...I would like for Heupel to secure Randy Shannon and his pipeline of Dade County and Florida recruits...Recruits will line up at UT to play for Shannon...Recruiting to UCF is not as attractive than playing for Tennessee...Chaney and Steel should just rent or lease homes when there hired....
I like it! As a Tennessee fan myself you hear the big names and the negative comments about this hire but like you said Tennessee needed to take a risk and I believe this was a good risk
would love to know what you said to your best bud when Pruitt was hired.
@@robjohnson8861 I didn't want Pruitt I wanted Mike Leach. Offense wins games Defense wins championships.. but you cant get the recruits for a good Defense when you are losing every game. Heupel is what we needed to win, now if he can get some D we can beat bama and UGA
It's not a good sign when the fan base of the team you hired a coach from is celebrating him leaving.
UCF fans are something else. Heupel is a great coach IMO
@@ScottFisherCFB I disagree, but this isn't really the place to adjudicate his time at Mizzou and how he left.
@@anondescriptobserver6774 Im fascinated by this hire. I don’t blame Heupel for leaving Mizzou for a head coaching gig
@@ScottFisherCFB I blame him for leaving without telling anyone, while Frost had stayed at UCF to coach in the bowl. Heupel could have stayed for Mizzou's bowl, even if just to call plays. Heupel would have been considered last year on our side if he hadn't left in that way. I also think Heupel's reputation at Mizzou was built in part on running up the score against weak opposition.
You are not wrong!!!
Good call, I imagine this video is getting some boosts right now...
Tennessee fan here.. I’m on the fence about this hire. Though he does seem like a great coach. I still feel like we should have went after some bigger names. I mean Jeff Fisher was interested and with NFL ties, I believe that would have helped with recruiting some top level players! But, I’ll still be behind this decision and cheer on the VOLS win or lose. 👍
I was thinking the same thing it definitely helps bigger names NFL coaches especially Jeff Fisher players love him and it would have brought in way more shot after recruits
Still on the fence
I like the hire. Looking forward to who the D coordinator will be.
Kevin Stelle will be unless Huepel will fires him which I don’t see him doing that, but I can’t wait to see who the OC will be
I Love Josh Heupel! What a Great year for his first year here at Tennessee! I am very satisfied with his style. Go Vols!
I bet you are really satisfied now :)
@@volbound1700 omg Yes!!! Haha Love this Team so Much!
The was a Weak Hire. Josh Heupel took over a team that just went undefeated. The last 2 years his record has been 10 - 3 and 6 - 4 So basically when UCF was at there best it was with Scott Frost Players.. In 3 Years Heupel will be fired and they will start over again..
Scott Frost was at his best with George O'leary's players.
@@dmoney4206 O'leary was an awful human who none of the players liked.
Man! I am so excided about UT football upcoming this year. I been a Vols fan forever and I'm 64 years old. Just go back to J. Majors. I really think we are finally on the right track this time around. I like the coach they picked. This is the start of something big, I just fell it in my bones. Look forward to the year 2023 when we latch onto the Manning kid. That's right another Manning. Arch Manning is coming to the Big Orange. I said it. Go big Orange!!!!
I don't know they said they want him to pick his team freely and he's been interested in Texas and he pays visits to Clemson also.
I don't think he's ever paid a visit here, idk. I would love that if he did because he's already awesome & he's already NFL ready.
This aged like wine.
Just to correct you, Mckenzie Milton went down in the War on I-4 against south florida, a week prior of the conference championship game
I think it's a great hire! We have not good qb play in a very long time!! Huepel will develop the qb and from there you never know what might Happen!!
Good call!!!
This is a good bridge hire- he’ll stabilize the program and consistently get you to bowl appearances. But he’s got a definite ceiling and it’s not competing for a conference championship or a playoff spot
Well no Tennessee coach since Fulmer has been any good you'll be on a bowl band + scholarship losses UT will suck
I love this hire, we may actually play 4 quarters now!
I like the hire. He has won a Championship and he coached a Heisman Trophy Winner. We need what he brings to the table. I think the NCAA will insure all the players in the transfer portal will leave. We will not be able to play a bowl game next year. We will put this behind us quickly. You watch Tennessee get ahold of their Governor. They can’t let there be vast differences from States where we play on Covid. That is a opportunity for rich fans to buy Governors off. You watch us win 7 games next year counting Pittsburgh. I think we will keep this new HC. I think we have our new identity, we stole UCF’s identity. This is brilliant.
I just want to see a quarterback hit the receiver's hands...instead of the tuba player. It's tough being a VOLS fan
Good Hire, Keep Steele and may the offense score tons of points and D up with Steele!!
Sounding like Steele is gone
You proved to be a Prophet Scott. Please pick lotto numbers for me.
This is going to either be really good or really bad.
I know my vote and it isn't good.
I'm a VFL, I'll always support The Vols, but can you say Butch 2.0....
Hell idc I would take butch Jones right now. Overall he didn’t do a horrible job.
Go Dawgs. But I think this was a good hire considering the situation up there. I would like to see what he can do with his recruits after the "rebuild) phase
I’m gonna sign here
@Ranthony Jones yeah this could be ugly
One thing a lot of people are overlooking is the fact that Josh Huepel is by far the most qualified, most accomplished coach that Tennessee has hired since Johnny Majors. Even Phillip Fulmer, who had never been a head coach before, was less qualified when he stepped in as head coach. I'm very hopeful that Tennessee will get back to where they belong amongst the better teams in the SEC.
It's looking like a good take so far.
I with ya, I think a step in the right direction. Tennessee got some talent at skill positions, should b have good O- line. Hopefully defense will b decent. Could b a surprise to everyone, I definitely believe UT will b exciting and fun to watch on Offense
Great video very informative please keep em coming on Tennessee
Underwhelmed as a UT fan. We are like the battered housewife and heard “it will be different this time” too many times. I am hopeful but we’ve been though 15 years of hell.
At least you guys dodged the mike leach bullet
The writing was on the wall in 98. What a fluke season and never truly relevant afterwards.
1) 19 pts from 13-0 to 9-4.
2) benefited from the Ark fumble.
2) faced MSU in the SEC champ. MSU98 is tied with Ark 95 as the 2 worst teams out of 60 so far. Both finished with 5 losses and unranked.
3) faced FSU w a 3rd string QB with 1.5 games experience and eeked out a 7 pt win.
I love the hire. I think he's going to do great things here.
As a UT fan, I am going to wait and see how he does. I know that UCF wasn’t as good after awhile, but their defense also progressively got worse as time went on. Our fans need to also remember that no big name coach with a brain cell wants to touch a program that is under NCAA sanctions and also has one of the most toxic fanbases in the entire nation
This is a better hire than Tennessee could have expected.
For 4 million a year , yes.
They could have done better probably. But that would have taken more money.
Richard Bishop i agree let tennessee fans give this man a chance, I dont know how the fans could have expected to hire anyone with a proven record in the SEC not knowing what penalties the program is facing, i am optimistic i think he will get it done. First step is getting the players to buy into his style of coaching.im not expecting a great season his first year but i do believe it will get better.
Some folks think that Tennessee fans are nuts. We are nuts, and for good reason. Every year, we expect the Vols to play like the teams from the past, and we are disappointed every year. Tennessee has the 13th most wins all-time in college football, and are second in the SEC all-time. For decades, the Vols were an elite (yes, elite) program, and all of that started to change under Fulmer. The team's culture started to change, and a few players seemed to spend more time in orange jumpsuits than orange jerseys. Coach Fulmer tried to bring the discipline back, but it was too late. It all starts with discipline. I'm really hoping that Coach Heupel is the one that can instill some pride and discipline in the Big Orange. Go Vols!
I hope we get Jeff Lebby at UCF. All the players want him. As for Heupel, Tenn can expect to be winning significantly than have the lead blown.... he's bad at clock management. He also doesn't know when its a good time to go for 2 or not.... we lose by 3 points or less, its on him
Exactly. He had no clue in critical situations throughout his time at UCF.
@@areguapiri facts half the losses at UCF in the past 2 years solely on him
I think its a good hire. When I Googled Joshs offences I was blown away by the number of points and yards at ALL the schools he's been at. BTW I sub'd to this channel cause it sounds better than all the other talking heads that wouldn't have been happy with Saban, so tired of the negativity...GBO
As a UCF fan, this was such a dumb hire by Tennessee. Thanks for the buyout money, but you guys will be back on the coaching carousel in 4 years MAX.
You are correct about that.
I think they know we're about to get in trouble by the NCAA so they just needed a coach to suck it up while we lose for another five six years
😁😁LOL
@@rushevents So he will implode next year so bad that they will fire him?
I like him as a coach, but he's not enough of a name to get the long list of guys in the transfer portal to come back. That will make the next few years lean ones. But if UT fans don't run him out of town after Year Two, and that's a big "if" if we're being honest, he' will turn things around enough to stabilize the program. From there, anything can happen.
Seems to be doing okay 🧡
THANK YOU for not being negative. GBO
Go Vols! Love the hire given the situation.
meaning on another sober "non situation" day, you'd say WTF?
Do the 2014 Georgia tech team that almost beat Florida st but won the orange bowl vs a very good Mississippi st team
his wins at ucf came with the kids scott frost recruited. his wins and losses been down trending since his first season.
as an admitted mizz fan I appreciate your fairness in the assessment!
I'm not so sure about this hire. Somebody else already said it but it's worth repeating:
UCF regressed just a little every year he was there. I wonder if the new AD only hired him because they worked together at UCF. It would be an easy hire for him and someone he knows he can deal with. That's fine to hire someone for that reason but it better not be the only reason.
UCF returned to there norm. Going undefeated every year is completely unreasonable anywhere,m
This video aged well.
Am a big vol fan I and always will and I am really happy now but I wish they could have got gus malzone

Yeah
@@cheaterverk1004 You wouldn't have got gus any way he has no reason to go to UT while getting paid buyout money from auburn

I'm not really sure about JH myself, but I am optimistic that we have QB commit Kaidon Salter and Hooker coming in.
Its one thing to lose 6-8 games a year, but it is so much worse when you struggle to score 20 points.
So if he brings some life back into this team's offense I will be happier than I was.
Ima UT fan and even I will tell you…..UT fans/boosters/THE HASLAMS make it extremely difficult to be a Ut head coach. UT needs to DUMP the HASLAMS and forget their money, we can do it without them.
Well it ended up being a damn good hire
I'm optimistic about this hire!
He's got a good shot at being a success at Tennessee. They weren't going to be able to bring in a superstar coach, and it's not like their other rumored targets were sure things either. UT has a good roster and can compete now, although they won't threaten Georgia or Florida any time soon. Pruitt had good players and lousy coaches imo, so I'll see where Heupel goes with his staff before I'm too optimistic. But this is not a bad hire. Give him a chance and see what he's got.
Love it!
Well considering the Vols latest history Josh is a great hire. I feel empathy for Tenn - just no stability anywhere. Upcoming NCAA problems too. But the offense should immediately be much better. Vol fans are great but they have been really frustrated for a long time now. It's gonna be tuff in the SEC
Now they can claim to be sec champs next year
😁😁😂😂If we can get past UGA
I expect Fulmergate to have lasting negative effects for the next 3-4 years. However, I think Heupel can improve offense and quarterback play enough to at least make Tennessee competitive. If he does well enough, then I think within 5-6 years Tennessee will be back to being a threat in the East. But it won’t be easy.
I am sure that there is a lot that is unknown, but the thing that bothers me the most is the way this happened. I did not see them hiring a firm to help with the search to hire the guy that Danny White already knew. I have also seen comparisons been made to Derek Dooley, so that is not comforting. However, I will be interested to see how he handles his introductory press conference.
Can’t believe that OU title was twenty years ago.
Only time shall tell!
I absolutely love Josh Heupel!
We all have no clue it's all spectaculation to many Variables out there,Like they say "Let's wait and see what happens"
Don’t love the hire at all. The Fan base with is mostly done. Players are leaving.
The coaching search should have happened immediately after the GA state loss. Gurantanno was the downfall of the program.
Still hate the hire?
In 2024 this video ages well.
He is a super good guy. My humble opinion Coach Stoops sacrificed Coach hype to save his brother for a few years. All worked out in the end though.
I’m an UCF fan and I can tell you , this hire is not as good as you may believe. Huepel’s teams the past two seasons have been undisciplined. Many fans get annoyed by the lack of passion he has on the sideline. And of course, let’s not forget how much Scott Frost did before he left UCF. Honestly I was thrilled seeing he left for Tennessee and a think a lot of the UCF fan base feels the same way.
I don’t like the hire I feel UCF started declining when he became their head coach
100% true
What happened to Connor Shaw? He outplayed Manzel at Cleveland in pre season, was leading a third string bears comeback before he was hurt. Politics?
Do you people ever learn??? Just look at over the last decade. Tennessee keeps firing coaches left and right.
Looks like the "GENIUS" ain`t gonna have a team left to coach. They`re all entering into "the portal" and leaving Tennessee high and dry. One sad thing is, Pruitt still got a job with the Giants, even after screwing Tennessee up so bad. I shouldn`t have laughed at Vandy and their female kicker. Tennessee might have to look around for a few female players in order to be able to have a team!
Look what he has done with what he had, your mind changed yet or does he have to beat bama frist?
I don't hate the hire I do think the most important hire for Heupel is defensive coordinator
If I was a fan of any of Tennessee rivals, I would love this hire. He was trending down at UCF and he was playing weaker opponents.
Yeah, I'm an Alabama fan and I'm pretty excited about this hire. I can see Bama's 15th consecutive win against the Vols coming up and quite possibly more than that.
Well you called it!
Now that I think about it, if Nebraska didn't offer Scott Frost the job and stayed, I think no doubt UCF would've eventually crashed the CFP
looks like a great hire now
Heupel underperformed at UCF.
Underrecruited as well... There's no way Cincinnati and SMU should be out recruiting UCF every year...
@@RobotRebelCinema Cinn and SMU handed out more money in MCD's bags......
@@22trem no they didn't you did you lost to ga state while cheating 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@lennythegumpsummers8889 I lost? Where did I say I was a UT fan? Stroke another one...
@@22trem I wasn't meaning you literally
I just don't get how alot of fans think Lane Kiffen would be a better hire! People seem to forget that Heupel beat Lane Kiffen both times they played!
