THIS is real Rally!. Nothing to do with nowadays competition!. I'm not minimizing todays drivers, but there was so much fun following the rally in that days!
Ik mocht deze rally mee maken als monteur in de service ploeg van Equipe Jan Bak/Hans Groenendijk, die met een Porsche 911 gr4 en start no 43 van start mochten gaan. Dit was voor mij een onvergetelijke ervaring.
Rohrl was surprisingly much better with 2WD car than 4WD. He was superb with Fiat Arbath and Opel Ascona and good with Lancia 037 but was usually beat by others when he sit into 4WD Audi.
Walter Rohrl was successful driving the 2WD Cars. He should have been successful driving 4WD cars also, but he had some bad luck during the 1984 to 1986 seasons, plus the fact that His Audi Quattro was outdated by the time the Peugeot 205 T16, Lancia Delta S4 and Ford RS200 Arrived...

Waldegaard`s Porsche`s gearbox was broken at last stage and he drove backwards towards finish but was forced to retire.
My favorite part of this video is 5:34 to 5:58. Just what the WRC today needs...
Opel ascona 400 ❤❤❤
This is how rally cars should look and sound . Nothing sounds like a Porsche 911 or an Audi Quattro
Opel Ascona ❤❤❤
