I notice this is from 1944, & "No Buddy Atoll" from 1945; I wonder if in the later years of the war Snafu had become so popular with the soldiers that they used him less as a cautionary example?
Kudos to those intel officers who picked up the can of fish and rice likely came from a Japanese ship, especially from an otherwise long, dreary, and monotonous report.
