The whole concept of the SNAFU cartoons was simple, SNAFU was a poor soldier, not because he was small, stupid, or impatient, but simply because he didn't properly follow orders.Technically accurate, most of the success of a military operation necessitates following orders, hence why much of early military training is stamping out traces of the individual.
The "Private Snafu" cartoons are all on DVD. I believe the cartoon "Censored" was itself censored because a sight gag could have been taken as a reference towards the Atomic Bomb, which back then was still Top Secret.
Your thinking of the cartoon "Going Home". "Censored" is about Snafu wanting to send letters to his girlfriend but they keep getting cut up by the censors and asks technical fairy first class to send them for him and chaos ensues when information is leaked. Both are about leaking information but "Going Home" wasn't shown because of a reference to the Manhattan Project.
Dude, back in the 40's and 50's, over 97% of the US population was Christian, and they were a LOT more devote and religious than they are now. Remember this is a World War 2 era cartoon.
yes but you fail to realize that Shakespeare was actually a time traveling communist agitator. God, what are they teaching you kids in school these days? You have a lot to learn my friend.
We need fully restored versions of all these shorts!
Finally an uncensored version of this....and it's fuzzy...
Thanks for posting anyway.
