This video explains the TERM® Underslab Water | Termite Barrier
    TERM® Barrier System
The TERM® Barrier System, built in during construction, blocks entry of termites and insects into the structure. TERM® Barriers consist of waterproofing membranes with a sealant which has been upgraded to act as a physical and non-chemical barrier to termites and insects.
100% of the ground level slab surface must be protected, because concrete joints, cracks and future cracks, plus other gaps, provide insect entry points. 100% horizontal protection can be provided by installing TERM® Underslab Barrier below the slab, OR on top of the slab using TERM® Sill Barrier tied into TERM® flooring underlayments. Special detailing materials (sealants, screens, and stone particles) are used to block entry at slab penetrations and drainage points.
Below grade foundation walls, with their joints and (future) cracks, must also be protected by TERM® Water|Termite Barrier.
Above ground, TERM® Barriers protect sill and flashing areas against moisture and insects.
TERM® Barrier System, when properly constructed as part of the building envelope, acts as a barrier to almost all pests. Because almost all pests are excluded over the life of the structure, the need for pesticide treatments should be greatly reduced.
    TERM® Foundation Barrier for ICF
The TERM® Foundation Barrier is a non-structural barrier which when properly constructed as part of the building envelope, blocks both termites and water. TERM® Foundation Barrier is a strong, pliable, self-adhesive sheet made of a 4 mil high density polyethylene film integrally bonded to 64 mils of barrier sealant. Total thickness is 68 mils.
    TERM® Flashing Barrier
The TERM® Flashing Barrier is a “peel and stick” barrier membrane used where waterproofing, energy sealing, and insect exclusion is needed. TERM® Flashing Barrier is applied where the horizontal concrete slab intersects with exterior sheathing. This area is a frequent entry point for termites which have come up on the outside of the foundation wall.
TERM® Flashing Barrier is a non-structural pest barrier which, when properly constructed as part of the building envelope, acts as a barrier to Termites and other insects, Energy leaks, radioactive Radon gas, and Moisture.
    TERM® Sill Barrier
The TERM® Sill Barrier protects framing from moisture, air leaks, and termite penetration. Recommended design would use TERM® Flashing Barrier tied into TERM® Sill Barrier.
Proper construction requires pre-measuring the widths and lineal feet required. Concrete surface should be clean, smooth, and dry, and temperatures above freezing and rising. Prior to application of TERM® Sill Barrier, the area to be covered is primed. Installed Sill Barrier should be rolled, and any penetrations treated with TERM® Termite Sealant.
    TERM® Termite Sealant
The TERM® Termite Sealant is a sealant barrier, applied with a caulking gun or smoothing tool, and used for both waterproofing and insect exclusion . TERM Sealant Barrier is a component of the non-structural TERM Barrier System which, when properly constructed as part of the building envelope, acts as a barrier to almost all pests. Because almost all pests are excluded for the life of the structure, the need for pesticide treatment should be permanently and drastically reduced.
TERM® Termite Sealant blocks termite entry points at slab penetrations. Because termites are almost the smallest of insects at 0.02”, they often work their way into the structure by entering through the gap between the pipe penetration and the surrounding concrete. Proper construction requires having a clean, smooth, and dry concrete surface, with temperature above 32°F and rising.
