Great tutorial! Just started A-level maths and my teacher made it sound so hard but the way you explained it made it seem sooooooo easy. Thank you so much!!
Long winded? I find it faster and more reliable than with the formula. It also seems to give me the exact answer as written on the mark scheme, whereas the formula gives a slightly different form.

It is long winded but the point of the video is to show you how completing the square is used.
Any C1 advice? (edexcel) :)
Practice, practice and then practice some more.
how did ur exams go 3 years ago? xD
Thankyou!
In the 2problem if -18x was -17x then what can we do??
then it would be 3(x^2 -17/3 x) + 1 = 0
then 3[(x-17/6 x)^2 - (17/6)^2] + 1 = 0
which gives 3[(x-17/6)^2 - 289/36] + 1 = 0
which gives 3(x - 17/6)^2 - 289/12 + 1 = 0
to finally give 3(x - 17/6)^2 - 277/12 = 0
Phew!
Num 2 when u said( X-3) squared instead of plus nine u said minus nine
I did say plus 9 but you need to minus 9 to cancel it out
(x+10)²=36
someone can solve it please
@@vrostml5056 u seems 2 ve a helpful person...
Then what about: x^2 + 10x + __? WELLLLP IM DYING
-27 + 1 is not 26. It is -26, your answer would be wrong.
He put the -26 onto the right hand side, so the sign changed from - to +. Which means the answer is right
he took the -26 to the other side
