It was a magical era growing up, the blocky graphics, announcers who knew what they were talking about, and original music. Now it is nothing but athetictainment and glitz overload.
One thing about the era of the NFL, there was no 6 day overage of the league on cable networks or internet. It was once a Sunday and anticipatory as you would not see the NFL games again for a week (except Monday night). Now it is absolute overload of NFL news talk coverage all week blah blah talk and lost its luster. Now they ruined a good thing just trying to report on every facet of the players, teams, innuendo, and rumor............Rinse and repeat.
Love Listening to Tom Brookshier
CBS in the early 80’s had the best intro music, I didn’t realize how great it was at the time
The CBS coverage in the 70’s and 80’s was just all-star.

It was much more interesting and watchable, hoopla free and no clownish halftime shows.
tom blanchards final nfl game, a underrated nfl punter
The ubiquitous something / someone is "underrated" comment on You-Tube...
What makes this run-of-the mill punter "underrated"
?
Tampa Bay went 9-7 in 1981, first in the NFC Central Division and at Bears came in last at 6-10.
My research indicates Tampa Bay was 1-1 before this game.
They beat Minnesota in Week 1.
They lost to Kansas City in Week 2.
Good catch, I corrected it.
