  • You can call it the universal background. It's great for both coloring books and Original art. Here is a simple eight step tutorial on achieving a blurred background. You can use both oil or wax pencils.

    Thank you so much for being such an excellent teacher! I've only started watching your videos but have learned SO much! I stopped drawing my freshman year of high school because of a discouraging teacher. I have since retired from work and went back to my love of drawing with pencil. I recently signed up for a few one on one classes to teach me about colored pencil. It's been fun but I'm seriously wanting to learn and not just be there to socialize. I always struggle with my backgrounds until watching your video. Now I'm not disappointed in drawing again. Your instruction is just what I needed. Thank you once again.

    When I first started coloring as an adult, three years ago, I rushed to finish a picture. I had no concept of what "layering" meant and knew little about colors, pencils, coloring techniques, or anything else. I have been watching you tube tutorials for about 6 months now and can't believe all the things to learn about coloring. It really blows my mind and I love every minute! You have opened my world up and I can't stay away from all you teach in your videos. Thank you Lori. You have opened my eyes! Can't wait to try each thing myself. It's finally sinking in my feeble brain!

    Fascinating. I’ve struggled with backgrounds, this method is awesome. I bet it also works well with soft pastels. Thank you x

    I love technique videos; this background is gorgeous.I tried one a few months but after seeing this I realize I didn't use enough variety in my colors or enough layers. Thanks, Lee

    How about using Zest It or nail polish remover?

    This is so time consuming and elaborate, I cannot see doing something like this unless it is an original drawing , not a coloring book drawing! Have you ever done tutorials on watercolor pencil techniques, or are you strictly colored pencil artist?

    • @ColorMyWorld

      I don't usually do water color but I was sent a whole bunch of supplies from Arteza to try out and one was a 72 watercolor set. I am going to do a water tutorial next week that I will use the watercolor pencils for. I have several sets of water color pencils and admit I don't take advantage of the wonderful things they can do. So yes I will be using them. My Daughter is an amazing water color artist and the pencils are usually up in her room so I forget about them. I have 3 videos that I am working on and then I can start the watercolor one.

      Things sometimes look more complicated when you break them down. When you are actually working on it the steps come automatically. It's actually a really easy background to do and a lot of people have trouble on backgrounds.

    Is layer five light or medium pressure?

    • @ColorMyWorld
      @ColorMyWorld  5 років тому +1

      Anything after layer four is medium. I would go with a medium light. You should be able to see a difference in the thickness and color saturation than you did with the first 4. The last layers should be medium to hard because your last layer will be your burnish layer.

    What colors did you use?

    • @ColorMyWorld
      @ColorMyWorld  5 років тому

      All the greens, all the browns. Just keep picking them up and putting them down. Don't try to copy exactly where I put things. It's impossible to do. Just know you pick your pallet and use everything.

    I would totally mess that up, there would be so much mud!

    • @ColorMyWorld
      @ColorMyWorld  5 років тому +3

      Melody, if you make mud make a pie. You will never do it until you do it and the paper will not burst into flames if you do screw up.

      @@ColorMyWorld LOL 😁, I will have to try it, you know it. I'll try it on something I don't care if I mess it up, like one of those crappy books
