Hey Bestiesss! I hope that you all enjoy this video...I know that it is late but betta late than never 😂 My apologies for low energy...I was just sooo tired but really wanted to record this video... Energy will be up next video 🥰. Don't forget to comment below, how we can help overcome a spending addiction...
I’m an emotional spender-when my youngest graduated high school-I started buying a lot from online boutiques. I don’t know why that is where I went because I’m not even big on clothes. I’m a jeans and tshirt/hoodie girl.
I had a spending addiction because I was lonely. It gave me something to do to fill the time. Once I figured that out I stopped "browsing" in stores for no reason and do more intentional shopping. I stopped watching videos about makeup and clothing trends and figured out who I am and what best suits me personally. I made a PROPER budget that included an allowance and made a vow to stick with it. Thanks for the tips ❤🙏
Thank you for this. You don’t know how many times I’ve unconsciously pulled up at Target and sat in the parking lot asking what do I REALLY need here. I’ve been pulling out of the parking lot more than walking in the store.
Y'all are my support group!! Yay! The aisle before the cashiers is the place my daughter refers to as "the aisle of temptation". She says it every time and we just laugh. Hahahaha; we don't have enough money to have an addiction. Our biggest expense is car repairs. Keeping up older vehicles does cost but not as much as a car note; ugh. And yes! I have known folks whose conversation was all about the "things" they have. I just realized, as you were talking, that that is probably the reason we no longer talk as much as we used to. Hmmm. I don't buy hardly anything online because 1) getting hacked once was enough and 2) I really like holding a product in my hands before I purchase. And it also helps that I intentionally stay out of the stores. I have never been much of a window shopper. And it feels good to truly go shopping, with cash in hand, to buy that thing you saved for. Thanks Jazmine. Blessings to all.
YES, I completely understand this, and it is for this reason I have limited myself to not buying yarn unless it is made from 100% natural fibre because it means that I have to spend more time searching and can't just impulse buy the pretty rainbow acrilic yarn from the reject shop.
What a great video!! I think we all go thru a phase in life where we believe that certain things we buy define our success. But as I've gotten older it's so clear to me that its just not true!! The wealthiest people Ive known of in my life appeared to have nothing!! Now I understand that, for me, financial success is reflected in things that can't be seen. Helping people, our home paid for, no bad debt etc etc. Nothing we can buy will ever be worth our peace of mind!!❤
Friend, your comment is filled with wisdom and am right there with you. The things that we now value can’t be seen….I remember when I didn’t want to pay off my house…now, I can’t wait to start the journey of truly being debt free with a peace of mind 🩷
This video really hit home for me. I used to struggle with impulse buying, especially when I was stressed or bored. The 24-hour rule helped a lot-waiting a day before buying usually made me realize I didn’t need it. Also, budgeting everything keeps me mindful of where my money goes. Small steps like these have made a big difference. Thanks for sharing🥰!
Thank you, can I be honest for a moment I don't really dare to share this but I am currently working hard on this but it is quite difficult to break that circle. I have even followed therapy but it is not really working yet. I'm still looking for what works and inspiration. Even the no spending challenge is hard for me I'm ashamed😅
I used to spend a lot of money on take out because i was bored. I entertained myself by looking at tv and eating take out. I budget and paid all my bills and would eat up the rest where i had no savings. I had to wake up by watching youtube channels and saw that i had to seperate my savings FIRST and put it in an hysa that i couldnt get to easily. I learned from you to give myself an allowance which i use for takeout if i wanted it. I pay myself allowance like its a bill. If i wanna shop for something i write it into my budget ahead of time. I dont go into stores and shop on line cause i will overshop.
Look on line for the closest library to you and it's hours. Make a plan and schedule a library stop just like any other appointment. If its been a while since you've been to the library, be sure to talk to the librarian as soon as you enter. Tell them its been a while and you would like a library card, help in learning how to use the catalog, and learn how to reserve a book or other material. Then give yourself a good 10 to 20 minutes to wander about and look around. Be sure to check something out. Some libraries are huge, some smaller, some offer free classes, most have far more than books, and thenlist goes on. Consider setting yourself for a library date or appointment once per week or so. - Also, most libraries can be reached to one degree or another on-line. Check them out on-line once you've done your first visit too.
I was an over spender even though I was getting “deals”. I have gotten much better and am enjoying saving my money as much I did with shopping. I loved shopping because it was how I cared for others because I was getting way better deals than what my family was spending. But I have really pulled back and just tried to show them how to get deals on products they use themselves instead of me doing the shopping.
You have a giving heart and that’s tough to pull back when u enjoy it. I love that you showed the people who you care about how to save money as well. Everyone wins
I struggle with spending money on fragrances. I get motivated to cut back or go on a no spend and that's when the deals come. I need to get it together 😩 I'm weak for coffee and perfume 🤦🏾♀️ let me take notes
I'll assume you have an assortment of fragrances already at home .... Consider giving them a space put in the open so that you can see them all lined up all at once. Optionally give them a box (s) that sits out on a counter, a top a dresser space, etc... Just being aware of what all you own, having them out so it's easy to use them, and visible so you can enjoy them. This can help stem some of the underlying reasons why fragrances are appealing.
@@terryhenderson424 thank you for the suggestion but I collect many fragrances and have an actual fragrance wall with them all neatly arranged. So that doesn't quite work
@@Miana_Techelle Make a list of all the fragrances you have in your collection and start by saying that you will buy another bottle until you finish using one from your collection. Also think about what else you can do with your money if you didn’t buy fragrances. For example I can save for X or invest in Z if I don’t buy that bottle of perfume…..
You are amazing and an inspiration. I have been following you for a little over a year now and I love your vulnerability. It is amazing and has helped me feel better on my debt journey. Your last two videos on what you will stop paying and continue paying has made me realize that it is ok to still keep some self care luxuries. For a long time I have stopped certain things because I felt that I didn't deserve it because all my money needs to go to other savings, to bills or to debt. But you made me see that it is still ok to treat myself to self care so that I am not miserable. And it is nothing large, for me it is a pedicure every two months-ish and other small health care items. Thank you so much again. -From a SoCal Bestie ~Dany :)
I’m so glad you’re sharing your experiences about why you were overspending. It’s so relatable! Thank you for telling us about your reward system. I’m going to try that.
I am definitely an emotional spender. I often have to try and distract myself to not go buy something/anything. It doesn’t matter what it is either. It could be $1 or $1000. Just as long as I bought something 😢
Girl, still waiting to see your fragrance collection!😂 Loved this video. Prayer, in particular, is incredibly powerful. Also pay in cash as much as possible. I use the Cash Envelope system for so many things…Fragrance being one of them. You can literally put $10 a month aside and at the end of the year, have enough for a full bottle of fragrance. I only recently started a Footwear Envelope. I have, for years, had a Clothing/Footwear Envelope but the money all seemed to get spent on Clothing….with barely anything left for shoes.😂 So I am now putting $40 a month into my Footwear Envelope.
Wow the timing on this video is perfect. I have been tracking my spending (by paycheck not month it does help my brain) and omg my spending is out of control. Mostly on food and it’s not the cost but buying more food when we don’t have enough room for what we have (apartment pantry). I’m completely an emotional spender and buy things to show love (on categories outside of food).
Often food, babies, and pets are seen as ok to spend money on and become areas we overspend. I will suggest you begin to work with meal planning. But also you bring at least one meal's worth of food down out of your cupboards and assemble it on your counter, table or eating space, or even the coffee table if necessary. Maybe even take down 2 or three meals worth. If a meal will take some refridgerator or freezer contents to go with, write down the full menu and ingredient list and put that note on top of your assembled cupboard foods. Then wrote which day of the week you will make those meals. - Try making a full week's worth of meals out of what you own and a limited fill-in grocery list.
I’ve recently made a commitment to myself since my cousin opted out of the Pat that I had that we were not going to shop other than groceries and essentials to live and she broke the pat im still holding on strong no fashion nova no apps until Black Friday been staying home also no outside I cut that back also
Great video!! I had to delete shopping apps- Amazon etc. boredom scrolling- or thinking of things and searching internet for those items. I do need to unsubscribe. Although I did remove my email from my phone. That helps as well!

For me I get a 100 visa card for gas and groceries which helps at the end of the month

I am an emotional spender and i also have ADHD where i hyper focus on new projects/hobbies/etc and go overboard. It takes a lot to break bad habits.
