2-Step Verification (2SV) adds additional security to the account you use on PlayStation Network. With 2SV activated, a verification code is sent to your mobile phone whenever you sign-in to your account. Learn how to activate 2SV from your PS5 console or from a web browser. Make sure to save your backup codes, which allow you to sign-in to your account when your mobile phone isn’t available. You’ll also learn how you can deactivate 2SV in the event that your mobile phone is lost, or your mobile number is changed.

This crap has just activated itself on my account without my doing! I can't sign in or access anything on my account. This just happened to me an hour ago, turns out someone hacked into my account and enabled it to their app. I've seen them purchasing things now, it may be possible this happened to you.

@@K1wayne well for me they had enabled the 2fa to their phone, so whenever I asked for the code it sent it to their phone and I never got it. I also saw them making purchases with my credit card details so I knew it was a full on hack.

@@K1wayne I might be remembering wrong since this was a while ago. The 2 step verification is when you log into your account, it sends a code to your phone or something that you put in to the Playstation right? If so then it should send one everytime you try log in.

Is there a way to remove 2 step verification? I have a PS5 without verification and for god knows who someone managed to access my ps account maybe via hacking my computer or phone. I use remoteplay often so my guess is either of the two devices. So this person managed to put a 2 step verification on my account with his number swiped some games and puufff cant access my ps account I tried resetting the password a couple of times via email and also managed to block the transactions. But without a code I cant access my account again. Currently contacting support but they are not availbe during weekends. Will update.
Same thing just happened to me
I had to call play station and tell them the problem. They did a security test to make sure it was my actual console then they reset the 2 step verification. Then I set up my own so it wouldn’t happen again.

The sms is often very slow and sometimes doesn't come at all :/

What if I can't get back into my ps4. I tried going into my ps4 after a long time but my 2SV had my old phone number, and I've lost my backup codes. I can't get in and have nowhere to turn to. I tried calling: never an agent available. I tried emailing: I can't find an associated email. I tried even using the little bot and it's useless: No live agent either. Please help.

@@RBeastR in the end, after a few more attempts, maybe around my 6th time, I was able to get an agent right away almost. They ended up resetting it by asking me for a form of identification from the account (like they asked me to pull up an order number from a receipt I knew I had bought through the PSN store)

2 step verification is so annoying. Too bad the controller has no thumb print reader, that way you’d only need 1 step. Hell, even FACIAL RECOGNITION is simpler than 2 step!

@@zyraix5764 Yeah, I never do. Practically EVERYTHING is useless, including CAPTCHA. I just figure if the option were there I highly doubt anyone could hack fingerprint scans/sensors or whatever, although they don’t always work/detect right and you need a password 1st anyway which defeats the purpose.

I just want to Mass Delete old friends. I have PSN friends sense 2006, over 600 friends that I mostly want gone. I can’t even play Dying Light 2 with my friends because my game is bugged by having too many friends. PS support won’t even help.
You gonna have to just delete them manually, Sucks but just spend a couple of hours or so a day deleting them.
Mabye the ps app might be better for deleting them.
